Maserati may be close to dragging its cars into the electrified era. An Automotive News Europe source says the Fiat Chrysler-owned brand will unveil its first hybrid, a version of the Ghibli sedan (above), at the Beijing Motor Show on April 21st. While there aren't many tidbits at this stage, it's poised to be a plug-in hybrid and thus have the option to run entirely on electric power for short stretches.

The complete works of animation powerhouse Studio Ghibli are expensive. As a teenager, I would save up my woeful Subway paychecks and, every few months, proudly walk into the nearest HMV store to buy another movie by famed director Hayao Miyazaki. It was an agonizingly slow process. But I gradually built up my then-DVD collection and watched the movies I wasn't sure of, and less familiar with, during the occasional Ghibli marathon on TV. Thank goodness they're all headed to streaming services.

Forgotton Anne looks like a gentle animated feature film you can't quite remember the name of, with an art style somewhere between Studio Ghibli and those curious kids' animation series I used to watch from Europe. The charming characters, mostly anthropomorphic objects called forgotlings, make for an entertaining adventure, combined with occasionally smart puzzles and surprising gameplay twists. That said, ThroughLine Games have made a gorgeous animated story where the gameplay comes second.

Here's some bittersweet news for fans of Studio Ghibli's animation genius Hayao Miyazaki: He's back in the directing chair! But, it's for a 3D CG short, not a traditional animated feature, Variety reports. Miyazaki effectively retired from feature directing with his last film, The Wind Rises, but he always left the door open for other projects. The new CG short will center on a hairy caterpillar (who's sure to break your heart somehow), and marks the first time Miyazaki has worked with 3D in a major project. It might be a while before you see it, though. The untitled film will take three years to complete, and it's being made for Ghibli's Tokyo museum. It's unclear if it'll be shown anywhere else. If you're still looking for a Miyazaki fix, and you've seen all of this films already, be sure to check out the documentary The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness (streaming on Netflix), which masterfully covers the making of The Wind Rises.
