Redesigned PowerJolt iPod car charger with free iFill LE
Griffin Technology makes a whole slew of useful iPod accessories. The company's latest offering is a redesigned iPod PowerJolt auto charger and power adapter. The device plugs into your car's cigarette lighter and charges your iPod while you're listening to music or while the iPod is on standby. Griffin's new product announcement says the PowerJolt has been "redesigned for ease of use," and has a "stylish black industrial design." Griffin is packaging the new PowerJolt with a free LE version of iFill software. iFill delivers content from Internet radio stations directly to your iPod without cluttering up your hard drive. The PowerJolt also comes with a detachable USB Dock Connector cable for charging and syncing your iPod with your computer, and a USB to mini-USB cable for use with the Griffin iTrip or iTrip nano. The PowerJolt lists for $19.99.
Report: iPods stealing radio listeners
When I read this article at Podcasting News, I immediately saw myself. The very first iPod accessory I really fell in love with was my original iTrip FM transmitter, which I bought a couple of years ago. I have since replaced it with a RoadTrip, but one thing remains the same: It comes with me each and every time I get into the car. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've listened to terrestrial radio in the past 2-3 years. I don't know about your town, but where I live, radio programming stinks. Why should I sit through six or seven songs I don't like, not to mention all those extremely annoying ads, just to hear one I do? Plus, thanks to podcasting, I can get many of the great NPR shows that I enjoy.Apparently, I'm not alone. According to Bridge Ratings, terrestrial radio's penetration could drop from 94% to 85% by 2010. Nearly 30% of respondents between the ages of 12 and 24 stated that Mp3 player use accounted for their abandoning radio. While I'm not in that demographic, I certainly share the sentiment. iLounge gets details on the iTalkPro
It's is the one accessory I've been waiting for: A voice recorder for the fifth generation iPod. iLounge was lucky enough to get some exclusive details and photos of the iTalkPro, the upcoming iPod audio recorder from Griffin Technology. It sounds terrific.According to iLounge, the iTalkPro can manage three and a half hours of CD-quality, stereo recording on a fully charged 60GB 5G iPod. Griffin's iTrip comes to Switzerland
Griffin Technology's iTrip FM transmitter for the iPod is now available in Switzerland. According to Griffin, "Recent changes in Swiss law have opened the door to broadcast in Switzerland over the FM radio spectrum (87.9 - 107.9)." Until recently, Swiss law has strictly regulated devices that broadcast over FM.The iTrip costs $49.99 in the US (no pricing information for Switzerland was available as of this post).[Via Playlist Mag]
Griffin TuneCenter: Now THAT'S a docking station
Shortly after I bought my 5G iPod, I got a Universal Dock and remote. The dock is...ok. It lets me play my videos, music and photos on a TV, all the while charging my iPod (as long as I spend yet another $20US for a cable, and a wall charger, bringing things to a grand total of $116US). Yet, it seems to lack that Apple flair we all love so much. I want my iPod to act as a media center when connected to my television. At first glance, it looks like the TuneCenter from Griffin Technology may be what I'm after.Viewing photo slide shows and watching videos work as you would expect. It's how the TuneCenter handles your music library that really has my interest. When connected to your TV, the TuneCenter displays track and playlist information. With the included remote, you can navigate your iPod's entire music library, adjust the EQ, set shuffle and repeat preferences, plus the usual play, skip, pause, forward and volume functions. Griffin announces TuneFlex auto charger
Do the developers at Griffin ever sleep? Today, they've announced the TuneFlex auto charger for the iPod nano. With one end plugged into your car's 12 Volt accessory outlet, your nano sits at the end of a flexible arm that allows you to position it just so in your car. There's a line out for connecting to your stereo (either via a cassette adapter or a line in port, if your car stereo is so equipped), and a "pass trough" on the connector itself will let you attach an iTrip or an AirClick Remote. The Griffin TuneFlex works with the iPod nano, costs $39.99US and is shipping now.
Griffin ships iTrip for iPod nano
Griffin Technology announced the new iTrip for the iPod nano a couple of months ago. The good news is that it's now shipping. This baby is billed as the most advanced iTrip ever. The new design is sled-like to avoid bulking up the profile of your iPod nano. You just slide your iPod nano into the iTrip's slim body. Station info is displayed directly on the iPod nano's LCD screen. This iTrip also has "Smart Sense" volume control that automatically adjusts volume for optimal quality. You can select stereo or mono (to get you through rough reception spots). And you can charge or sync your iPod nano while connected through the iTrip's built-in USB port.
