Our brothers and sisters to the north will soon have extra incentive to pick up a PlayStation 4, as Sony announced that it will ship a The Last of Us Remastered-themed PS4 hardware bundle in Canada this week. The package includes a PlayStation 4 console, a DualShock 4 controller, and a digital copy of The Last of Us Remastered for $449.99 CAD. Non-bundled PlayStation 4 consoles retail for $449.99 CAD following a region-wide price increase earlier this year, giving the bundle added value over a standalone console purchase. The Last of Us Remastered PS4 hardware bundle will hit Canadian retailers on July 29. A similar bundle is also slated to launch in Europe and Japan. [Image: Sony]

  • Luigi finally gets his own 3DS bundle in this, the year of Luigi

As we close out the honored, seemingly endless Year of Luigi, Nintendo has one more gift planned for Mario's lanky brother. A Cobalt Blue Nintendo 3DS with a preinstalled copy of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon will hit store shelves on November 28 for $169.99. The Cobalt Blue color scheme -- a deeper shade than the platform's Aqua Blue launch model -- is a favorite among 3DS software bundles, having been introduced in a Fire Emblem: Awakening package deal but never released as a standalone product in North America. Luigi himself inspired a fan-made Nintendo 2DS mod last month, which was later auctioned off for charity. Of course, it might be more appropriately festive if the 3DS included in the Dark Moon bundle was colored green, but eh, what are you gonna do? Luigi's year is almost up, and maybe Nintendo's getting tired of him strutting around like he owns the place.

What is "special" DLC? We're not quite sure, but that's what'll come with the Assassin's Creed 3 PlayStation 3 hardware bundle when it launches alongside the game this October. We're also not sure how much it'll cost, but we do know what it looks like. It ... uh ... looks like a PlayStation 3. More info as we get it!

Nope, you still won't get an HDMI cable in the box with new PlayStation 3 hardware that arrives this September in Japan, but you will get a "charcoal black" console with decreased power consumption, a lightened chassis, and a 320GB HDD. Thrillingly named the "CECH-3000B," the new model was announced by Sony of Japan this past weekend, alongside the opening of an official website (once a retailer had outed it). Apparently a handful of visual changes have been made to the system as well, specifically applying to the power and eject buttons, but the changes aren't obvious in images released thus far. The console by itself will run ¥34,980 ($435.56), and a 160GB version of the new model will ship with a previously announced Tales of Xillia bundle this September. It should also be noted that the Tales of Xillia model is ¥37,980 ($470) and looks way, way sweeter.

Your next chance to brutally eviscerate mythological beasts without eliciting the concern of your peers will come on November 2, when Ready at Dawn's second handheld Kratosian adventure, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, hits U.S. store shelves. The PlayStation.Blog mentions the game's arrival as "just in time for the holidays" -- we assume they're talking about Thanksgiving, which, much like God of War's ashy protagonist, places a heavy emphasis on carving. Also announced were the game's pre-order bonuses, which include PSP and PS3 Themes and Avatars, the game's soundtrack, an in-game "Legionnaire Skin" and a video roundtable of the game's creative directors. In addition, a Ghost of Sparta PSP bundle will launch alongside the game, which comes with a red and black PSP-3000, a copy of the game, a download voucher for Chains of Olympus, Kick-Ass on UMD and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. It is, quite possibly, the most violent thing upon which you could ever spend $199.99.

So there are more PS3 units with special markings coming out. The release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete on April 16 will usher in this new 160GB bundle in Japan. The new unit will be bundled with the reworked and extended film from Square Enix, which will also include a demo for Final Fantasy XIII. Alongside the hardware bundle, Advent Children Complete will see release in two other packages: the movie with the FFXIII demo, and the movie without it. The film will include English voiceovers, so those looking to import won't miss a beat. There's still no word of a release date outside Japan and whether the bonus demo would appear in worldwide releases of the film.
