Wanna trade in some battery life and get a bit of extra speed in the deal? Lenovo is now offering its spanking new S12 netbook with a VIA Nano ULV 2250 processor and VIA Chrome9 HC3 graphics instead of the usual Intel Atom / GMA 950 combo, which should offer a little more pep (at least in some applications) and lops $50 off the original's spendy $500 asking price. The Nano setup will draw more battery than the Atom, so you might want to invest that extra cash in another battery if you can track one down, but at least the $450 price includes a 6 cell as standard.

Camcorderinfo.com got their grubby little hands on the Canon HV10 and produced the first review. Canon's first venture into the high-def camcorder market has sparked a lot of attention from the online media but how good is their first camcorder? We won't keep you waiting as you would probably scroll down to Camcorderinfo's conclusion anyways so, it's alright. They liked it, not loved it though. Low light shooting is really bad and that's a killer for a lot of people. Plus, the upright form factor doesn't lend kindly to a stable picture. That same form factor however is highly regarded by the fans of pocket cams as it's smaller then Sony's HC3 counterpart. This is Canon's first jump into the water so expect the more from the (dare we take a stab at the name) the HV20.

We normally don't cover much of the independent filming community, but we love Sony's orignal high-def camcorder a bunch and everyone likes a little hack. With that in mind DVguru has dug up a little tutorial explaining how to convert the IAS shoe on Sony's HC1 into something a bit more universal. Basically all a person has to do is Dremal a head of a  bolt to fit into the proprietary Sony shoe and screw the other end into a screw mount shoe. They say it should take about 15-minutes. Cool. No word if this would work on the newer HC3 but we don't see why it wouldn't.Any one willing to give this a go on ether models.[via DVguru]
