The Wii U has only just arrived (with all of its streaming apps) and we're already discussing rumors for the next generation of Xbox. Meanwhile Comcast is letting users view TV on their mobile devices offline, and Verizon has launched live TV streaming to its iPad app. In sports news YouTube has locked up NBA D-League streaming, while ESPN continues to chase the bigger fish of the BCS Playoff games and the lure of TV money is helping shape conference expansion. We've also got news on a few new things to watch, so press play to listen in. We were having some RSS issues after the redesign, but those should be straightened out now -- if you still notice any problems let us know on Twitter or in the comments below. Before we take in Thanksgiving and all the football it has to offer, we've got this week's podcast episode. The new Wii U represents Nintendo's official entry into the HD age, so of course we'll discuss it, however with many of its TV-centric features arriving only recently or still awaiting their debut, we still have our doubts. Amazon and Netflix both continue to make moves in subscription streaming, and Google Fiber is finally rolling out across the land. Of course, it's already time for a CES preview and we're ready for the latest Ultra HD news from Samsung (and even a breaking update from Sony.) Press play to find out what's up this week in everything from 4K to Formula 1. Get the podcast [iTunes] Subscribe to the Podcast directly in iTunes (MP3). The Boxee TV is official, so what do we think of its antenna / ClearQAM broadcast-to-cloud DVR aspirations? We'll dig into that, as well as Simple.TV and Aereo's announcements in the past week. A JVC-branded HDTV is launching with integrated SlingPlayer support, and AMC is finally back on Dish Network. We'll also take a peek at the latest happenings in 3D from 3net and Fox's I, Robot conversion, before digging into Syfy and Trion Entertainment's TV show / video game combo, Defiance. While we've still got plenty of iPad second screen and streaming video tech to talk about this week, we're leading off with some old classics: FCC rulings, DVRs and Windows Media Center. While the FCC may be helping cable companies kill ClearQAM, is the sacrifice actually worth it? We've also got a look at the final Ceton Echo, and even TiVo is finally opening up its SDK. We reviewed the new Slingboxes this week, and will go over what they got right -- and what they didn't -- before we dig into what's new to watch this week. Our podcast this week kicked off with a bit of breaking news, going to tape just as pics of an unannounced box from Boxee leaked out. After we decipher the surprisingly conventionally-styled Box we move on to other notable announcements from the week including an update for SlingPlayer on Android, a release date for Netflix's House of Cards and Toys R Us' move into internet video. On a more melancholy note, it appears that the Ceton Q Windows Media Center DVR project has been put on ice -- press play and join us in mourning. After a slight... week long delay we finally have your new episode of the Engadget HD Podcast. If you've been waiting for a Fantasy Football update, existing league members should have invites in their inboxes and our pick-em will launch soon. In actual HD news however, DirecTV has finally experienced a loss of customers, perhaps the cable companies can help it deal with the disappointment. For the remaining subscribers however, the iPad app has some updates, while Cablevision is delivering channels to the Kindle Fire. We also take a peek at Verizon's FiOS Companion tablet and wonder if your TV provider should be in the tablet business, as well as recap the last few weeks of Olympics madness. Since everyone loves (to hate) NBC's tape-delayed Olympics coverage we decided to push this latest episode of the podcast back a couple of days. Naturally the action from London and all of the discussion around the way it's being broadcast leads things off, but there is other news this week. Super Hi-Vision has had its public debut, Google Fiber TV is happening and Amazon's video is on the iPad. The only bad news? We won't have a new show next week as we take one week off, and we're still not ready to roll out those EHD Fantasy Football league invites again just yet. Until then, you've already waited long enough for this one, go ahead and press play. Get the podcast [iTunes] Subscribe to the Podcast directly in iTunes (MP3). Perhaps surprisingly, there was more news to discuss last week than just the DirecTV / Viacom split and Breaking Bad season five premiere. News from Ceton about its upcoming hardware plans has us excited for the fall while XBMC is doing its part to extend the HTPC experience by supporting Android. Finally, a slick Blu-ray box set for the Marvel / Disney movies has us considering whether to push the buy button, although we can all agree that selecting "play" is the best option for you right now. Rumors that Microsoft's plans for its next console could turn it into a Blu-ray and whole-home DVR super set-top box lead off a console-heavy into to this week's podcast, as we also check out the new Paramount Movies app and Netflix for the Wii U. If speed is what you're about, Verizon just raised its limits (and its prices), while the DOJ is looking into cable vs. online video -- we'll let you know when to get excited. Apple's WWDC keynote did not reveal many directly TV related technologies, but its new Retina Display laptops are definitely in our wheelhouse so we'll start there. Of course, for true audiovisual bliss it's hard to beat the promise of either Dolby Atmos theaters or 8K Ultra HDTV Super Hi-Vision broadcasts, so we'll tell you where to find both. While Comcast is rolling out more TiVos and Sky is (slightly) updating its guide, the wildest innovation at the moment is coming from Google and Intel's attempts to brute-force their way into the TV market. Finally we've got some kiosk and digital movie rental news before we check in with our thoughts on Prometheus (spoiler alert!) in 3D and finally what we're watching this week.
