E3 is under way this week, and early presentations from Microsoft and Nintendo has already given us plenty to talk about. Between the Xbox 360s enhanced set-top box suite of apps and SmartGlass second screen demos and the Wii U GamePad's IR control they're more a part of the home theater than ever. Also in the news is Apple TV, while we take a look at what's ahead from Ultra High Definition TV in 4K or 8K and even 3DTV. We'll even touch on our good friend / punching bag TiVo, while Lovefilm is finally in the streaming fight with HD video support. Closing things out this week are a few tweaks for the Netflix iOS app and an early peek at The Avengers on Blu-ray, followed by what we're watching on TV this summer. As we kick off the 300+ episode era, we welcome a guest, Engadget's own Steve Dent, to talk about high frame rate 3D filmmaking and why (or if) we should be excited about it. Other big news in the week gone by are new developments in Amazon streaming as it launched on the Xbox 360, while Comcast's VOD is popping up on Android and more TiVos. Ultra HDTV is also closer to becoming a reality, while LG officially took the wraps off of its first OLED HDTV. We'll also dig into NBC's Olympics broadcast plans (good news for streaming, not great news for 3D), while the E.T. Blu-ray gets a trailer and we talk about what to watch for the summer. This week the Engadget HD podcast crew rolls the odometer over 300 episodes, but it's no big deal. Especially not when we've got new hardware and software from the likes of TiVo and Comcast to discuss during Cable Show 2012. Comcast is actually all over the news this week, with bandwidth policy changes and new features. Motorola won't be left behind either, showing off a new concept DreamGallery UI, while our old friend Moxi is even in the house with an update. Also up for discussion is whether or not 96k TrueHD audio sampling is worth getting excited over, Super Hi-Vision broadcasts and a new web streaming UI from Netflix. As such, they're leading off this week's (slightly late-arriving, hopefully that hasn't completely ruined your scheduled listening plans) podcast, while we round out our Apple coverage with a look at the new iCloud-enabled wrinkle applied to the iTunes Digital Copy feature. Despite the flood of phone and tablet news coming in from Mobile World Congress we have found a few HD related tidbits for this week's podcast. Thanks to Comcast, TiVo and Moxi there's plenty going on in streaming and DVR news, while Google Fiber is preparing its entry in Kansas City. Welcome to a special President's Day Engadget HD podcast (ok, not that special) where we kick things off with last week's hot button topic: universal pricing. Is a forced even playing field between online and B&M retailers fair, or harmful to the consumer? You guys sounded off in the comments, so we took another look at Samsung's plan for its 2012 HDTVs. We've also got plenty of HTPC news, with InfiniTV access on more platforms, a new round of arguments between Boxee and the NCTA and Kinect for Media Center. It's also time to say hello to Aereo -- even if we think it may not be long for this world -- before taking a look at the latest receivers from Onkyo and what's on TV this week. It's been a busy week in HD, with surprising new streaming offerings on the way from the likes of Sky and Verizon / Redbox, while Apple and Google each also pushed more minor updates to their TV boxes. Vizio is nearly ready to release a new format of HDTV in the US, and we also got some hands on time with a new TV companion app for your iPad. Of course, we couldn't get through this week without some discussion about the Super Bowl, which includes mentioning a server outage that interrupted things for Harmony Link users. There's that and plenty more to discuss, so go ahead and press play -- but remember to vote for the 2011 Engadget Awards first.
