The TV season hits its stride this week and brings with it last season's episodes on Blu-ray. One that is of particular interest to us is a new HBO show, it isn't that we like this particular show as much as we just like to see HBO release Blu-rays because it gives us hope that our favorite shows may one day get the Blu-ray treatment. The biggest release this week probably isn't the best, but if you don't believe they can ever remake Robin Hood enough times, then at least one person will have something new to watch. Untitled (Screen Media) American Beauty (DreamWorks) Being Human: Season Two (BBC) Bored to Death: The Complete First Season (HBO) Calvin Marshall (Passion River) Charade (Criterion) The Experiment (Sony) Human Target: The Complete First Season (Warner) Modern Family: The Complete First Season (Fox) National Geographic: Collapse (National Geographic) Ondine (Magnolia) The Peacemaker (DreamWorks) Ride the Divide (Tour Divide) Robin Hood (Universal) The Secret in Their Eyes (Sony) The Secret of Moonacre (E1) Spartacus: Blood and Sand (The Complete First Season (Anchor Bay) Stomp the Yard: Homecoming (Sony) Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue (Disney) Triple Dog (Well Go USA) Vigilante (Blue Underground)

Next week is premier week for the big networks and of course that means that last season's episodes will hit Blu-ray. There are a few to choose from but our first pick is the third season of The Big Bang Theory. Another that will probably be a favorite to many geeks -- but not us, we couldn't make it through he first season -- is the second season of Fridge. If TV shows on Blu-ray don't interest you, then don't worry, you won't have to wait too long. In fact before you know it, all the Summer blockbusters will be coming home. Not many day and date new movies in a sea of Warner TV shows -- who knew Warner made so many TV shows even though the company doesn't own a TV network? -- bu Michael Douglas' Solitary Man looks like a solid choice. There are also a few classic sci-fi titles like THX 1138, Forbidden Planet and Lost in Space. Finally the BCC has a docu' that looks interesting with Wonder of the Solar System. Besides playing Alfred on Batman, where's Michael Caine been? We sure don't know, but he's back in Harry Brown which is our number one movie of the week on Blu-ray. Sure it didn't bring much in via the Box Office, but it does have a decent IMDB score which is thankfully higher than Sleuth. There are a number of TV shows for you this week as well, which should give you enough time to catch up on your favorite shows before the new episodes shows hit the airwaves this Fall. Harry Brown (Sony) Beatdown (Lionsgate) Why Did I Get Married Too? (Lionsgate) The Evil Dead (Anchor Bay) House: Season Six (Universal Studios Home Entertainment Jane's Addiction: Live Voodoo (Eagle Rock) Marmaduke (Fox) Sons of Anarchy: Season Two (Fox) National Geographic: Glacier National Park (Vivendi Visual) NCIS: Los Angeles (The First Season (Paramount) Red Riding Trilogy (MPI) Taroko National Park (Razor) The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season (Warner) Wild Asia : At the Edge (Razor) 9th Company (Well Go USA)

The picture above says it all, but we'll say it anyways; this week marks the release of the greatest TV show of all time on Blu-ray. Of course that is just an opinion, but one thing that can't be argued is that Lost was very popular and it would have to be for ABC to believe that someone would pay $200 for all six seasons and some toys. We can't wait to relive it all over again on Blu-ray ourselves, but at that price we'll have to wait for it to show up on Amazon's bargain collection. Lost: The Complete Collection (ABC) Lost: The Complete Sixth Season (ABC) $5 a Day (Image) 2:22 (Inception) Abandoned (Anchor Bay) Ajami (Kino) The Back-up Plan (Sony) The Square (Sony) City Island (Anchor Bay) Death Note Collection (Viz) Dorian Gray (E1) The Great Rift (BBC) The Long Good Friday (Image) Time Bandits (Image) Mona Lisa (Image) Withnail and I (Image) Machine Gun McCain (Blue) Nature: Extraordinary Animals: Africa (Questar) Nature: Extraordinary Animals: Bears & Wolves (Questar) Scenic National Parks: Alaska & Hawaii (Questar) Scenic National Parks: Great Train Rides (Questar) Shogun Assassin (E1) The Simpsons: The Thirteenth Season (Fox) Survival of the Dead (Magnolia) The Universe: Our Solar System (A&E)

We've been following the HD releases each week for years, and besides the weeks when there were no releases at all, this one is pretty much the worst ever. Now we know you might be a Dexter fan and can't wait to enjoy the 4th season, but for the rest of us, what exactly do you want us to get excited about? Cemetery Junction? Yeah right. What about The Good, the Bad and the Weird? -- yeah, we can't believe that's a movie either. No, there's nothing we want to watch this week, but there's always next week to look forward to. Black Orpheus (Criterion) Cemetery Junction (Sony) Dexter: The Fourth Season (Showtime) DOA: Dead or Alive (Weinstein) Furry Vengeance (Summit) The Good, the Bad, and the Weird (MPI) Hamlet (Warner) The Last Song (Disney) Nanny McPhee (Universal) Skellig: The Owl Man (Image) TT 2010 Review (Duke)

Its the hottest month of the year in the northern hemisphere and there's not much new to watch on Blu-ray. Steve Carell's latest comedy might be worth a look if you are looking for a laugh or two, but with an IMDB score of 6.6, we wouldn't expect much if we were you. Two we know are good for a laugh is Warner's National Lampoon's Vacation movies -- we know you can't wait to see Wally World in HD for the first time. Date Night (Fox) The Joneses (Fox) Crumb (Criterion) Death at a Funeral (Sony) The Diplomat (Vivendi) An Empress and the Warriors (Weinstein) Invisible Target (Weinstein) The Legend (Weinstein) Tai Chi Master (Weinstein) National Lampoon's European Vacation (Warner) National Lampoon's Vacation (Warner) What's Up, Doc? If you've been reading this weekly post regularly and thinking, "man when is a new kick-ass movie or all of my favorite MGM classics going to be on Blu-ray?" then this is your week. Kick-ass isn't exactly the type of movie that would draw us to the theater, but any title that hits Blu-ray with an IMDB score of 8.2 warrants our time and attention. But that isn't the only thing this week as MGM has six classics and Universal has the 80's famous The Breakfast Club as well as the 4th season of Heroes -- which we wouldn't watch again if you paid us. There is obviously more to talk about that we're missing but one last one we'll mention is Sony's The Prophet, which we've never heard of, but we always enjoy a good crime drama, especially with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%, wow. Kick-Ass (Lionsgate) Open House (Lionsgate) After.Life (Anchor Bay) Blood Done Sign My Name (Image) Blood Simple (MGM) Bull Durham (MGM) Escape from New York (MGM) Fargo (MGM) Kalifornia (MGM) Never Say Never Again (MGM) The Breakfast Club (Universal) Heroes: Season 4 (Universal) Charlie's Angels (Sony) A Prophet (Sony) To Save a Life (Sony) Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Fox) The Ghost Writer (Summit) Haunting of Winchester House (Echo Bridge) I Am Omega (Echo Bridge) Humanoids from the Deep (Shout) James and the Giant Peach (Walt Disney) Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (Kino) Piranha (Shout! Love it or hate it the top title this week is the modern remake of Clash of the Titans. And if you are worried about more fake 3D, don't, this Blu-ray Discs has lots of features, but one of them isn't 3D. But even if this one isn't for you there are still a few others worth a look like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, or maybe enjoy the extended cut of Rambo, with an extra 15 minutes of .50 action. If none of that appeals to you, then maybe you'd like Fanboys? Clash of the Titans (2010) (Warner) Batman: Under the Red Hood (Warner) Battlestar Galactica: Season 3 (Universal) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Sony) Johnny Handsome (Lionsgate) Lock Up (Lionsgate) Repo Men (Universal) Accidents Happen (Image) Steve Byrne: The Byrne Identity (Image) Operation: Endgame (Anchor Bay) Don't Look Up (E1) Fanboys (Weinstein) G.I. Wow is it hot out there right now and this week's lineup offers little reprieve inside. While there aren't any blockbusters this week there is quite a selection including a number of titles from Questar and the Criterion Collection. Warner is the only big studio with a number of titles this week with the leader of the selection, The Losers, leading the way. But two of the other three titles are day and date with DVD and might be worth a look. The Losers (Warner) Cats & Dogs (Warner) Cop Out (Warner) NHL Stanley Cup Champions 2009-2010 (Warner) The Runaways (Sony) Being Human: Season One (BBC) Best of Europe: Music Lover's Europe (Questar) Best of Europe: The Great Cities (Questar) Best of Travel: San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver (Questar) Uncle Nino (Questar) Black Narcissus (Criterion) The Red Shoes (Criterion) Evil Aliens (Image) UFC Presents: WEC Aldo vs. Faber (Image) Just Another Day (Image) Forbidden World (Shout! This is one of those weeks that is expected in the dead of Summer, and as Hollywood wants it, motivates us to leave the house and head to the theater -- almost. No, instead we'll wait for all the great Summer flicks to hit Blu-ray this fall but Ben Stiller did star in Greenberg which looks like it might be a look as well as a few other no-so-classics that might be worth revisiting. Alpha Dog (Universal) Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) (Universal) The Bounty Hunter (Sony) The Cartel (E1) Caught in the Crossfire (Lions Gate) Chloe (Sony) Gabriel Iglesias: Hot and Fluffy (Image) Greenberg (Universal) How to Make Love to a Woman (E1) In Bruges (Universal) Insomnia (Warner) Middle of Nowhere (Image) Our Family Wedding (Fox) Parasomia (E1) White Collar: The Complete First Season (Fox)

So we're a few days late on this one, but we figure it's better late than ever to tell you about this mid Summer lineup -- nothing too earth shattering this time of year anyways as we wait for the holiday season to bring the Summer blockbusters home. There are a few notable titles though like Brooklyn's Finest and A Single Man. There is also a decent looking Sifi flick called Eyeborgs and the classic Jason and the Argonauts. Brooklyn's Finest (Anchor Bay) Eyeborgs (Image) Larry the Cable Guy: Git-R-Done (Image) Love and Other Disasters (Image) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Music Box) Jason and the Argonauts (Sony) A Single Man (Sony) Jimmy Hollywood (Lionsgate) Ladybugs (Lionsgate) Steamboat Bill, Jr. (Kino)

We're always up for a good comedy or documentary and this week there is both on Blu-ray. First on the lighter side Hot Tub Time Machine fits our rule of thumb regulating time travel in movies. Then up next is the BBC's How the Earth Changed History -- which has two of our favorite topics in one show. Hot Tub Time Machine (MGM) Beautiful (E1) The Crazies (Anchor Bay) Don McKay (Image) The Eclipse (Magnolia) Everlasting Moments (Criterion) How the Earth Changed History (BBC) Kill Switch (First Look) The Leopard (Criterion) Screw Balls II: Loose Screws (Severin) Stolen (MPI) Uncle Sam (Blue) The Warlords (Magnolia) When You're Strange (Eagle Rock) The White Ribbon (Sony)

This is a very odd week for us because while there are a number of day and date titles none that we can say we've heard of, except the super terrible Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lighting Theft. As far as we can tell the beset is Matt Damon's Green Zone, but even that isn't something we feel the urge to buy and instead will wait another 30 days to watch it via Netflix. There are a few for the fairer sex this week as well, like The Last Station and Remember Me. Green Zone (Universal) The Last Station (Sony) Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (Fox) Remember Me (Summit) She's Out of My League (DreamWorks) A Star is Born (Warner) Close-Up (Criterion) Death Race 2000 (Shout! Not sure why this one stayed under our radar until this week, but we saw an ad on TV for Shutter Island and just noticed today that it has an IMDB score of 8.0 which is a pretty high score. Also on our list today is the classic Caddyshack and The Illusionist. Not a great week overall, but any week with at least one worthwhile topic is all good. Shutter Island (Paramount) Crossing Over (Weinstein) 180 South: Conquerors of the Useless (Magnolia) Power Kids (Magnolia) The Illusionist (Fox) Not the Messiah (Sony) Caddyshack (Warner) From Paris with Love (Lionsgate) Animation Express (Image) Buddha on the Silk Road (Razor Digital) Wild Asia: Between Two Worlds (Razor Digital) Happy Together (Kino) Ice Road Truckers: The Complete Season 3 (A&E) UFC: Rampage Greatest Hits (Anchor Bay)

Not a bad week considering the time of year. We have a pretty nice day and date that even the Netflix and Redbox customers will get to enjoy -- but not 3D fans. And we have a fantastic documentary from the BBC, although we were really annoyed to see that Netflix is currently only offering the crappy version for rent. Then best of all -- well maybe -- we have a number of great Clint Eastwood titles like Heartbreak Ridge, Absolute Power and The Rookie. Well the last one isn't that great. Alice in Wonderland (Walt Disney) Life - David Attenborough (BBC) Life - Oprah Winfrey (BBC) Absolute Power (Warner) Heartbreak Ridge (Warner) The Rookie - 1990 (Warner) Bad Boys (Sony) Wild Things: Foursome (Sony) Undisputed III: Redemption (New Line) War of the Worlds (DreamWorks) Class of Nuke 'Em High (Troma) Tromeo and Juliet (Troma) Someone's Knocking at the Door (Vicious Circle)

We've never seen so many Blu-ray releases in the same week where we didn't really see anything we wanted to watch. We're sure some are glad to see HBO bring the second season of True Blood nearly 10 months after it aired on HBO -- we're still waiting on a few ourselves. Other than that we're looking forward to hearing what's great about this week's lineup in the comments that we missed. True Blood: The Complete Second Season (HBO) Babysitter Wanted (Big Screen Entertainment) Beyond Sherwood Forest (Anchor Bay Entertainment) By Brakhage: An Anthology, Volumes One and Two (Criterion) City of the Living Dead (Blue Underground) Clash of the Titans (Warner) Class of Nuke 'Em High (Troma) Dark Nature (Troma) Dear John (Sony) Django (Blue Underground) Flashbacks of a Fool (Anchor Bay) Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (New Video) It Waits (Anchor Bay) Merlin And the Book of Beasts (Anchor Bay) National Geographic: American Serengeti (NatGeo) The Road (Sony) Seven Swords (Vivendi) The Shortcut (Anchor Bay) Spartacus (Universal) Stagecoach (Criterion) Surf Nazis Must Die (Troma) Tell Tale (Vivendi) Tromeo and Juliet (Troma)

Not a bad week of Blu-ray releases for mid-May, not bad at all. At the top of our list is Invictus, the true story based on South Africa's great rugby story -- but then again we're always a sucker for a good sports movie. Also this week is one of our favorite gangster movies of all time, Carlito's Way. There's even something for the fans of chick flicks as New Line brings out the day and date, Valentine's Day. Invictus (Warner) Carlito's Way (Universal) Extraordinary Measures (Sony) 2012: Doomsday (Echo Bridge) The Messenger (Music Video Distribution) 9 Songs (Vivendi) The Dukes (E1) The New Daughter (Anchor Bay) Outlander (Weinstein) The Spy Next Door (Lionsgate) Valentine's Day (New Line) Walkabout (Criterion)

After one of the great classic WWII movies of all times hit Blu-ray last week, this week is full of mediocre day and date releases like Mel's Edge of Darkness and Ethan's Daybreakers. Sony goes to the archives and brings out the Karate Kid movies, while Fox has what is possibly the worst Robin Hood rendition ever. Overall not a great week, but we've seen worse. Edge of Darkness (Warner) Daybreakers (Lionsgate) The Edge (Fox) High Anxiety (Fox) Marked For Death (Fox) Robin Hood: Men in Tights (Fox) History of the World: Part I (Fox) The Karate Kid (Sony) The Karate Kid, Part II (Sony) Legion (Sony) M (Criterion Collection) The Man in the Iron Mask (MGM) Legend of the Tsunami Warrior (Magnolia) Tidal Wave (Magnolia) Deadly Duo (Tokyo) Rock 'n' Roll High School (Shout! Who isn't excited about one of the all time great World War II movies on Blu-ray in HD for the first time ever (IMDB 8.5)? We know we can't wait to live in terror once again as the soldiers hit the beach and make a run for it. If you haven't seen Saving Private Ryan before, and enjoy war movies even a little, you have to check this one out. There are a few other classic war movies this week as well like K-19: The Widowmaker and the great Doctor Zhivago which takes place during the Russian Revolution. And if you hate war movies and hated Avatar, then there is something for you this week to as The Notebook comes to Blu-ray, enjoy.
