Those lucky enough to have NFL Network in HD have a great Chiefs vs. Broncos matchup to look forward to, we'll keep an eye on the Arnold Schwarzenegger mini-marathon on Universal HD tonight: Kindergarten Cop, Junior and Conan the Barbarian. Our traditional high definition listings continue below.

  • BDA wants you to "Experience Blu" with new ad campaign

Now that the PlayStation 3 has launched in North America several members of the Blu-ray Disc Association (Twentieth Century Fox, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Sony and Warner Bros.) are pushing the "Experience Blu" ad campaign via print, online and television. The TV ads will be in high-def and only on Discovery HD, INHD and HDNet. HD DVD has been pushing "The Look and Sound of Perfect" with a bus tour, but according to Adweek the $150 million campaign is holding off on TV ads until next year when more players and titles are on the market. The HD DVD group recently announced it has shipped more than 1.5 million discs to market, but Blu-ray hopes to take the lead in installed base this holiday season and never look back. The creative director of the Blu-ray campaign thinks right-brain / left-brain attacks will sell the format but we see it as far more simple. While a roving HD DVD mobile experience is great, more HD ads on our TV compell us to watch any and everything (since its HD) without ever leaving the couch. Take a look at the various iterations of the marketing campaign below.Read - TV advertisement (warning: sound)Read - Print adRead - Online advertisementRead - AdweekRead - Blu-ray Disc Gets in Front of Target Market with Launch of High-Definition TV Advertising

What we're watching: No question what we're watching tonight, Panic in the Ring of Fire. Filmed during and after the devastating Yogyakarta earthquake earlier this year by a Discovery HD crew in the area, it aired in Canada just a few days later but not here in the U.S. until now. If getting a high-def look at such a tragic natural disaster is a bit much, there's also a good Sunday Night Football matchup between the Chargers and the Broncos, not to mention Die Hard on Cinemax. • Comcast adds several HD channels, Golf Channel / Versus HD due in January

Considering Comcast has been on a mild HD-adding frenzy of late, it's not too much of a surprise to learn that the firm has added yet another run of high definition options to its (arguably) robust lineup. Motor City users over at AVS have confirmed the addition of A&E HD, Universal HD (it's back?), National Geographic HD, and Fox Sports Net Detroit HD, which brings their total HD selection to 21 channels. Additionally, it looks like the removal of INHD-2 has brought about a separate, new channel that will be used to simulcast The Golf Channel during daylight hours while queuing up Versus (formerly known as The Outdoor Life Network) content at night. This will presumably solve the quandary Comcast has with needing an additional outlet to showcase all that HD-quality hockey it owns without HDNet, and should be available for your enjoyment in January. So, any of you folks not in Michigan receiving any sweet bonuses from Comcast in terms of HD offerings?Read - AVS Forum discusses new Comcast additionsRead - Golf Channel / Verses HD to land in January

What we're watching: NBC has three super-sized comedies lined up for tonight, with My Name is Earl, The Office and 30 Rock filling the space of 4 typical episodes. No Big East Game of the century matchup tonight, as West Virginia takes on Pitt, but there is plenty of hoop action with both college and NBA doubleheaders. Cinemax is also airing the first last three prequel Star Wars movies, but we don't recommend The Phantom Menace. Our traditional high definition listings continue below.

What we're watching: Tonight we find out who is the winner of this season's HD Dancing With The Stars, Emmitt Smith or Mario Lopez. The tension around the Engadget HD headquarters is palpable. If that weren't enough, we've got two different two hour season premieres lined up. Day Break, starring Taye Diggs, is a Groundhog's Day-style show about a man forced to live the same day over and over again. Medium returns with its own two hour block on NBC.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: The nightly news is finally in HD, with HDNet's Dan Rather Reports. We're sure the blogosphere will be tuned in, waiting for the first "fact". Also new tonight is the game show Show Me the Money, we have no idea what it's about, but hopefully it lasts longer than The Rich List did.Update: Also in HD and premiering tonight is 3 Lbs on CBS, about surgeons, but not Grey's Anatomy, the main characters are men. Also, Show Me the Money was not in HD despite ABC's website indicating it would be, not to mention the Dancing With the Stars finale. We are still awaiting confirmation that Dan Rather Reports actually in fact featured Dan Rather and not just some guy named Dan.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

Dan Rather Reports premieres tonight on HDNet, and the man himself appeared on The Colbert Report to talk about the show. Check out the clip on Colbert On Demand for information on how Colbert himself has switched entirely to HDTVs -- the old ones have been composted -- and asks Dan hard hitting questions like "Do we really want to see the world in crisp detail?". The show (Rather's not Colbert's) begins tonight at 8 p.m. EST, we'll see if high-def brings the commitment to accuracy, fairness and guts the lead reporter says it will.[Via digg]

What we're watching: Sorry if we're not too enthused by the prospect of seeing Texas at Kansas State or Wake Forest at Florida State on ABC tonight, but we'll probably keep watching Star Wars on Cinemax. SEC football is on display on ESPN-HD and ESPN2-HD, plus NHL on HDNet, and NBA action on INHD. What we're watching: The only thing odder than a Big East game with National Championship implications is another Big East game with National Championship implications as undefeated Rutgers faces undefeated Louisville on ESPN-HD. There's good NHL and NBA action to be had but two undefeateds facing this late in the season is definitely worth watching...even if one of them is Rutgers. With Salma Hayek guest starring on Ugly Betty we'll be sure to keep an eye on that as well. Our traditional high definition listings continue below.
