Hitman: Contracts, the third entry in IO Interactive's stealth murder series, is finally available for individual purchase on Steam. Previously the game was only available as part of the Hitman HD Trilogy, which bundled Hitman 2, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money into one convenient wannabe-murderer's package. A music licensing issue surrounding a track in the "Rendezvous in Rotterdam" mission prevented Hitman: Contracts from being re-released as a standalone game on Steam. The Hitman HD Trilogy was able to sneakily sidestep this issue by replacing the song altogether; however, Steam users are currently reporting Hitman: Contracts has had its entire soundtrack and voice over tracks removed in the Steam version, so we've reached out to Square Enix for comment. Hitman: Contracts, compatible with Windows PC, will set chrome dome assassins back $7 on Steam.

Achievements and Amazon.com listings appeared for Hitman Trilogy HD this week, the US retailer detailing release dates of January 29, 2013 for both Xbox 360 and PS3. Amazon also lists a price of $39.99, along with some snazzy box art, although publisher Square Enix has yet to officially announce the collection.According to the listing, Trilogy HD includes high-def versions of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money. The compilation first popped up in the summer, when it was listed by European retailers as a PS3 game called Hitman HD Collection. The achievements list courtesy of Xbox360Achievements, along with the trophy list uncovered by Exophase back in October, suggest that for whatever reason HD Collection may be the compilation's European name. When approached, a Square Enix representative said the company cannot comment on rumor or speculation.

This week's new GameTap titles bring us a little gem from 2000 and an adventure game that totally flew under the radar earlier this year. Jack Keane (Windows) - A cartoony and light-hearted adventure game. Sacrifice (Windows) - The critically acclaimed RTS with RPG elements, made by Shiny Entertainment back in 2000, deserves a test drive. This week temporarily adds Hitman: Contracts to GameTap's free-to-play titles. We have also received the release schedule for volume two of Grimm, which can be found along with the list of gratis games after the break.
