We're halfway through April, and Lord of the Rings Online's next content patch, Book 13, will be released before the end of the month. To tantalize players just a bit more before the free update is out, a new preview page devoted to Book 13 is now available at the official site. The preview looks at some of the previously discussed big features of the patch, including the Forochel area, the Orc Defiler PvMP monster class, the Fishing hobby, and the enhanced fellowing features. As well as this, the bottom of the page leads through to a gallery that has some new screens, and a large selection of avatars for use with forums, messenger programs and the like -- a nice touch! We've updated our own Book 13 gallery with the new pictures for you to take a look at.%Gallery-18168%

  • Azeroth Interrupted: It really is ok to play WoW

Each week, Robin Torres contributes Azeroth Interrupted, a column about balancing real life with WoW. I've noticed that there are a lot of commenters each week whose solution to every problem is "ZOMG! Get your priorities straight! Stop playing WoW!", particularly when I answer Reader Mail.At the same time, the general public (including non-gamer significant others and parents) may not buy into the media hype that video games are the root of all evil, but the best they believe about gaming is that it is a juvenile waste of time.So the non-gaming majority and some sympathizing WoW Insider readers (who presumably play WoW themselves) are working together to try to make us feel guilty about any time we spend playing our current favorite MMO.Who really cares what strangers think about our leisure time? The problem comes when the people we know get in on the act.Should we feel bad about playing WoW?

Here's one we haven't discussed yet -- how often do you play? Are you truly hardcore, using gaming as a catch-all for all your hobbies and spare time, or do you work to fit it in amidst a busy schedule? How much time a person has to dedicate to gaming often influences the types of games they play. Do you find yourself playing minigames more than anything else, or do you have the time to dedicate to mastering every challenge you can find in Twilight Princess? Tell us all about it.[We just love the clock.]

  • RC Rover runs on steam, human fear

Mad scientist Steam-powered RC enthusiast I-Wei Huang, has posted yet another impressive creation over at his website, Crabfu. The six-wheeled RC Steam Rover was born of a decidedly retro-looking Cheddar Puffin engine and two Tamiya 4x4 chassis, using a mixture of butane and propane as fuel. The videos on his site suggest that it won't be breaking any land speed records, but we're still hoping it'll eventually play a part in protecting us from these little steam-powered robots, should they go all Skynet on us.[Via Makezine]
