Reports surfaced last Wednesday that a European shipment of black DS Lites had vanished in Hong Kong. Nintendo is now confirming that "a number of white DS Lites" en route to the UK have indeed been stolen. The Big N did not specify how many units were jacked, but they want to reassure European consumers that there should be enough product to meet the demand for this Friday's launch date. There is no further information about the Hong Kong police department's US$129,000 reward for information. However, if you happen upon one of said units, please feel free to send it to Joystiq, and we'll, uh, promptly return it to Nintendo. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Those Black DS Lites are pretty hot. Well, now they are, anyway, as $2.32 million U.S. dollars worth of portable gaming goodness was apparently stolen from a cargo container in Hong Kong. Expected to hit the black market (the puns are just naturally built into this story), officials are offering over $125,000 U.S. dollars for some information. So, if a watertight cargo container full of Nintendo products washes up on your private beach, or something, please let someone know. There are some European gamers waiting to get their Mario on.[via Joystiq]

According to PlayGadgets.com, a large shipment of black DS Lites bound for Europe, along with a stockpile of DS games, has gone missing in Hong Kong. The estimated value of the merchandise, which was sealed in a cargo container, is 18,000,000 Hong Kong dollars (roughly $2.3 million). Some reports suggest that black DS Lites have recently entered Hong Kong's 'black' market, prompting police to suspect that the missing cargo container has indeed been stolen. Police are offering a 1,000,000 HKD (almost $129,000) reward for information about the lost goods.[Thanks, Sean]

Microsoft launched the Xbox 360 in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan yesterday, causing productivity to plummet among the hard working and good at math. Gamerscore Blog has pics of the kick-off events. In a surprise move, the Xbox 360s being sold in this region (see photo at right) are apparently 10 feet tall, meaning the DVDs must be the size of trampolines—tough to fit through the door of the average Hong Kong apartment. This explains why gamers in this part of the world only have to pay $30.90 for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.See also:360 makes its Korean debutMexico and Colombia welcome the 360Xbox 360 launch pictures from BerlinJapanese launch extravaganza![Thanks, Cesar]
