Team Joystiq has concluded its selection of last year's best games. Click here to see the complete assembly of ingenious indies and triple-A triumphs - until next year! The Wonderful 101 The boundless, ALL-CAPS exuberance of The Wonderful 101 may have been misread by its intended audience. Overseen by Mr. Devil May Cry himself, Hideki Kimaya, this vibrant action game conveys cuteness in its army of stout superheroes, but poses creative and razor-sharp challenges without taking a breath. The game's cartoonish antics and enormous bosses are beyond ridiculous, dwarfing the mechanical cleverness that lies beneath it all. The real novelty lies in drawing shapes and having your heroes congeal into corresponding mega-swords and huge hammers (also: puddings). It becomes a practiced analogue shorthand, not unlike your maneuvers in a fighting game, and the hard-earned rewards satisfy in much the same way.

The Humble Mobile Bundle 3, which made its debut last week – headlined by Vlambeer's Ridiculous Fishing – has now added three new games, available to those who have contributed more than the average pay-what-you-want price. Driving simulator Desert Bus, about a bus on its way from Arizona to Las Vegas, is perhaps the most well-known of the trio. You may have heard of it from its annual fundraising campaign called Desert Bus for Hope, which recently cleared over $520,000 for Child's Play – an organization that coordinates donation of toys, games and consoles to sick children in hospitals across the country. Alongside the game about driving a bus for hours is minimalist puzzle game and former iOS-only success Hundreds, which tasks players with tapping circles to increase their size and numerical value, with the goal being to accumulate a total of 100 on-screen points. The third game on offer is Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor – an action-adventure platformer. A sequel, titled Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon, is due in the spring. There are currently just over six days left on the Humble Mobile Bundle 3 clock.

Hundreds, the minimalist mobile game from Canabalt's Adam Saltsman and Gasketball's Greg Wohlwend, sold its 100,000th copy on Sunday, sending Saltsman into fits of sentimental, blog-based joy."I don't want to downplay, for us, the financial importance of this success; we basically went broke making Hundreds so it's a pretty big deal that it didn't flop," Saltsman writes. "That said, even if it was the kind of money where we could go buy sports cars or whatever (and it's not!), there is this other, at least for me, way more important thing going on, which is less about finances and more about, 'Holy crap, 100,000 people have played Hundreds.'"Hundreds has a simple premise and interface: Players tap various circles, turning them red and increasing their size and numerical value, in an attempt to accrue 100 points on-screen. If a red circle hits another object, it's game over. Hundreds is $5 on the iTunes App Store, optimized for iPhone 5, and for iPad and iPod Touch in iOS 5.0 or later."Folks who haven't played a game since Tetris are trying out Hundreds and liking it," Saltsman writes. "And we're getting this response for a minimalist game that we made utterly without compromise. Every value we had going into this project we carried all the way through to the end, and in spite of that, or, I am tempted to think, because of that, Hundreds is resonating with more people than we ever allowed ourselves to imagine."So that feels really good. Thank you, everybody, for trying out our game and diving into our puzzles and giving us your time. Thank you so much!"

Adam Saltsman, also known as Adam Atomic, also known as "the dude who made Canabalt," launched Hundreds, an iOS game co-created by Gasketball's Greg Wohlwend, on the App Store today. It's 40 percent off through January 10, currently running $3.The goal of Hundreds is simple: build up at least 100 points between the shifting circles on-screen, though if a red, growing circle hits another object, you lose. If you're intrigued, play Wohlwend's original Flash version for free on Newgrounds. The iOS version of Hundreds is universal and adds new modes and mechanics.

The holidays are now over, and developers aren't wasting any time getting back into the App Store mix. As is usual during the year on Wednesday nights, a number of new apps and updates are scheduled to hit the App Store around the world, and here's a choice selection of what will be new and available in the next 24 hours. Hundreds is the most notable new app this week -- it's a new game put together by Canabalt creator Adam Atomic, along with Puzzle Juice collaborator Greg Wohlwend. I've been playing it for about a week now, and I can tell you: It's just spectacular. Hundreds will be available for US$2.99. Chillingo's got two new games coming out: Catch the Ark is a new endless runner created by some ex-AAA developers, and Swing King is a colorful physics puzzle game that looks excellent. Both are 99 cents. Repulze is a racing game that's also releasing tonight on iOS. I haven't played it yet, but it looks great, and it's also going to be 99 cents. There are some solid updates coming tonight, too. EA's Need for Speed: Most Wanted is getting two new cars, in the form of the Pagani Zonda R and the Marussia B2. There's also new content, and seven new cars that are going to be rotated into the game week by week. And finally, virtual skating simulator True Skate is getting updated with a new combo system, new missions, and a new in-game currency to earn. There's a new slow-motion mode, too, that can be unlocked with the new currency or opened up for an in-app purchase. Obviously, this isn't all of the new apps on the store, but it's a good sampling. We'll have more on these new games and others in the near future here on TUAW.

Semi Secret Software, the studio behind Canabalt (the game that defined iOS games forever) has teamed up with Greg Wohlwend (Solipskier, Puzzlejuice) and musician loscil for Hundreds, an iOS game about, well, adding up to 100."It's simple," the website explains. "To win: tap & grow floating bubbles until they equal 100." The catch is that bubbles turn red when you tap them, and making two red bubbles touch (by, say, growing them) ends the game. Hundreds will be on display at Indiecade this weekend. There's no official release date, but it's "nearly done." Expect development to reach 100% very soon.
