Chrome will make it harder to block incognito browsing
A longstanding loophole in Chrome's Incognito Mode allows websites to recognize when people are browsing the web privately. Recently, sites like The Boston Globe and MIT Technology Review have started using the loophole to block anyone browsing in Incognito Mode to keep people from avoiding paywalls and to maximize data capture. Now, according to 9to5Google, Google plans to close the loophole.
YouTube is working on an incognito mode for its Android app
YouTube is in the process of testing an Incognito mode that's destined for its Android app. It wouldn't be the first service to acknowledge that sometimes, you just want to keep your browsing history under lock and key. Indeed, Google Chrome, Chromecast, SwiftKey and the Gboard keyboard app are already armed with the protection of an Incognito Mode, so it should come as no surprise that YouTube may soon get its own stealth feature.
Google is still adding basic chat features to Allo
Slowly, Google is bringing its Allo chat app's basic functionality up to speed with the likes of iMessage and Telegram. The application's latest update adds the encrypted incognito mode to group chats (previously it was only available in one-on-one conversations). As Droid Life notes, you can even set an expiration timer for when your conversation goes out of incognito mode. Then there are link previews, which many other chat apps have had for awhile now. But hey, having Assistant in your chats from the get-go was impressive, right?
