Google is well aware of AI's power. When it's used for good, it can help predict the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases, augment podcast apps, and even help job hunters more easily pinpoint new local opportunities. That's what Google Jobs was designed to do when it launched in 2017 for US users, and today, the feature is finally available for UK jobseekers.

Google.org is investing $50 million to alter how we think about work. For example, the internet juggernaut knows that college isn't for everyone, so it's working on a tool so people can easily compare vocational and technical training programs. Google hasn't specified how such a system will work, or how many training providers will be included, but in theory it'd put tech-ed programs alongside one another so you could find out which would suit your needs or offer the skills needed to land a job in your current city.

The company's changing that a bit with the new LinkedIn Students app for iOS and Android. It essentially pulls in all the data in the LinkedIn network and focuses it on those soon to be leaving college to help them find positions that make sense given their backgrounds.

A handful of big-shot professionals have long had the freedom to express themselves through LinkedIn's blogging platform, but most careerists have had to sit on the sidelines. Starting today, though, just about everyone can have their voices heard -- LinkedIn is opening its publishing platform to all members. Users will soon have the chance to write long-form posts and attract followers from beyond their immediate networks. Only a fortunate 25,000 have access as of this writing, but the company plans to expand publishing privileges to the entire user base in the weeks ahead.
