Grovemade has a knack for crafting tech accessories out of wood. For its latest product, the company teamed up with designer Joey Roth on a set of desktop speakers that are made from that natural material. You might remember Roth's ceramic speakers from a few years back, among a collection of other audio and industrial designs. This time around, Roth lent his expertise to Grovemade's Speaker System: a pair of speakers with a horn design and 2-inch drivers that's paired with a 2x25W amplifier. The speakers are made from solid maple and walnut to complete the look of the fully analog audio setup.

  • Handcrafted Ceramic Speakers are almost too pretty to blast

Joey Roth blew our collective minds way back in 2007 with his conceptual Felt Mouse, but now the designer is taking his creations to the next level by actually shipping a few. The simply named Ceramic Speakers boast only 10 watts of output per channel, though each 4-inch full-range driver is housed in an acoustically dead porcelain and cork chamber that should do quite a lot with quite a little. We can't say we're totally fond of the expected $400 to $500 price tag when these go on sale in October, but toss in a similarly designed subwoofer and we just might bite.[Via Cool Hunting]

  • Felt Mouse puts a different spin on ergonomics

We have little choice but to take Joey Roth's word for it, but we've got our reservations about this one. The so-called Felt Mouse forgoes the typical dome shape that most mice made this millennium share in favor of a totally blockish -- and likely uncomfortable -- design. Conceptually, at least, the critter is indeed wireless, and while you will notice a right and left click, you can forget about finding one of those fancy "scroll wheel" contraptions. The unit is said to be constructed primarily from "natural wool felt and laminated bamboo ply," and the former will apparently conform to your hand when you grab hold. Check out the underbelly after the jump -- we promise carpal tunnel syndrome can't be contracted visually.[Via YankoDesign]
