Team Joystiq is coming at you straight from PAX, and they've been doing a lot more than forcing people to do David Caruso imitations. Well, a little more. If you're looking for the scoop on Diablo III, Assassin's Creed II, MAG and others, your ears need search no longer. And yes, they brought the sound effect with them, so stop asking. These are trying times for the Joystiq Podcast, with host Chris Grant off in Seattle for PAX, while Justin and Ludwig continue to toil endlessly on their more electronic-indie-pop side project, The Postal Service. So, this week, instead of the usual Friday show, we'll be bringing you a special ... special directly from PAX on Saturday with Chris, the Xbox 360 Fancast's Richard Mitchell, Kevin Kelly, Griffin McElroy and some very special guests. It should be noted that the guys haven't actually told us there will be any special guests, but we're hoping we can goad them into finding some if we say it in a post. Don't let us down, guys.

Sure, there's more Batman: Arkham Asylum, you have to expect that. But there's also price drop talk, a first-hand account of GamesCom madness from our own Alexander Sliwinski, some sad news for Maxis and, of course, your emails and voicemails. And sorry to disappoint, but we skip the Megan Fox story. All apologies. On a happier note, you have the amazing Zachary Tuttle to thank for this week's podcast art, the larger version of which you can find right here. [Update: OK, gang, if you got the 46 minute version from iTunes, delete and redownload and you should be all set. The most shocking thing about the episode is not the introduction of the Joystiq emergency hotline or our on-site report from BlizzCon. No, the most shocking thing is that we somehow avoid talking about how much we love Batman: Arkham Asylum for the full two hours. Spoiler alert: Very much. Also, shaving is discussed in detail. We're back with another podcast, and a surprisingly full one for the middle of summer. We've got impressions of The Beatles: Rock Band, Trials HD and as much Shadow Complex as we can talk about and Justin does a really bad job of explaining Spider. Then, towards the end, a brief visit from a special guest. Oh, and a fairly drunk voice mail or two. Naturally. And, of course, thanks to the amazing Alan Black for the upsetting photoshop. [Update: If you've had trouble downloading the podcast, you should try again. It should be working OK now. Update 2: So, we uploaded once again. [Update: There were two (2!) different problems with this week's cast. If you've encountered either 1) a truncated file or 2) complete, eerie silence then redownload the file from iTunes. It should see the new version and pull it down. Any other issues, grab the actual MP3 below. Let us know if you're still having trouble in the comments and we'll do our best to assist.] With Justin out this week – undoubtedly with a liver full of West Virginia moonshine – the remaining podcast hosts have tapped one Mr. JC Fletcher to bring his formidable video game knowledge (not to mention formidable facial hair!) to the show. The missing host? Face as smooth as a baby's underarm. JC? Grizzled. Think new Max Payne ... but even grittier. And with an esoteric Japanese video game t-shirt on. And ... uh ... thanks (?) to Alan Black for the 'chop ... and for scaring everyone on the internet by showing us what Mount Rushmore's icons would look like if they had teeth.
