It's all about Gears of War 3 and more personal Game of the Year nominees this week. Arthur has been playing Gears of War 3 Raam's Shadow, and it shouldn't really come as a shock that he is enjoying his time with it. After the quick Now Playing segment it is on to more editors' potential Game of the Year picks. Luddy presents The Witcher 2 as one of his favorites of the year, and JC has a couple more obscure selections. Guess Arthur's pick. More editors, more picks, next week. Part 1 (1:39) - Now Playing: Gears of War 3 Raam's Shadow Part 2 (8:38) - Gears of War 3, The Witcher 2, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Crysis 2, Resistance 3, Bulletstorm, and El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Get the podcast: [iTunes] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast in iTunes [Zune] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast directly in the Zune Marketplace [RSS] Add the Joystiq Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator [MP3] Download the MP3 directly Host: Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM) Producer: Jonathan Downin (@jonathandownin - Game Thing Daily) Production Coordinator: Richard Mitchell Music: Trash80 and Gears of War 3 View the full guest list and stream the show after the break.

This week in Now Playing, Serious Sam is back. However, Ludwig is feeling a little full on cheeseburgers, and the lack of humor isn't really helping the matter. Jurassic Park: The Game has to be better, right? RIGHT? The second segment this week kicks off the end of the year festivities. Richard is joined by Griffin and Ben to talk about some of their Game of the Year contenders. This is not necessarily indicative of the Joystiq Game of the Year lineup-- more of just some personal favorites. Stay tuned for more picks from different members of the Joystiq crew next week. The show ends with the first round of the new voicemails section of The Joystiq Show. If you want in on the action, drop us a line or give us a call at 1-(877)-JOYSTIQ. Part 1 (1:13) - Now Playing: Serious Sam 3: BFE and Jurassic Park: The Game Part 2 (25:58) - Dark Souls, Battlefield 3, Dead Space 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and Jetpack Joyride Part 3 (1:11:38) - Voicemails Get the podcast: [iTunes] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast in iTunes [Zune] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast directly in the Zune Marketplace [RSS] Add the Joystiq Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator [MP3] Download the MP3 directly Host: Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM) Producer: Jonathan Downin (@jonathandownin - Game Thing Daily) Production Coordinator: Richard Mitchell Music: Trash80 and Jurassic Park View the full guest list and stream the show after the break.

It's a casual, four-day weekend sort of Joystiq Show this week. Now Playing has Richard, Justin and Griffin talking about two games with sword-centric gameplay, Infinity Blade II and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. You heard it here first: If you like Infinity Blade, you will probably like Infinity Blade II. As for Zelda, it is a rare accomplishment that a game with so much "mind-numbing" fluff can be so good. The second, and last segment, is all about you. It's the first edition of the Mailbag on The Joystiq Show, and Chris joins Richard in answering a slew of questions. If you want in on the action, drop us a line or give us a call at 1-(877)-JOYSTIQ. You really should take your Friday/Saturday/Sunday afternoon with a stomach full of leftovers to listen to this one. It would be un-American not to.* *Non-Americans get a pass, but you are still obligated to listen. We are at the very back end of the holiday releases, but there are still a few games to hit. Three games this week, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Super Mario 3D Land, and Saints Row: The Third, more than held their own in the reviews, but the last two are the big winners here --and the two couldn't be more different in their individual greatness. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection has brought Solid Snake, some white-haired guy, and a whole slew of villains with crazy names into the modern era, and Chris, along with Ludwig and JC, take this opportunity to revisit the majesty that is the MGS series. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception has already shared the limelight with other games in a previous Now Playing, but this week it gets its own segment. Chris, Ludwig and Griffin aren't pulling any punches in spoiler town so, if you haven't finished Drake's latest adventure, this might be a segment to come back to. Part 1 (1:21) - Now Playing: Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Super Mario 3D Land, and Saints Row: The Third Part 2 (43:28) - Roundtable: Metal Gear Solid series Part 3 (1:17:17) - Spoiled Rotten: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Get the podcast: [iTunes] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast in iTunes [Zune] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast directly in the Zune Marketplace [RSS] Add the Joystiq Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator [MP3] Download the MP3 directly Host: Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM) Producer: Jonathan Downin (@jonathandownin - Game Thing Daily) Production Coordinator: Richard Mitchell Music: Trash80, Super Mario 3D Land, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception View the full guest list and stream the show after the break.

Big games are still hitting shelves, and at least one member of this episode's Now Playing segment would argue that one of them is a hurdle to marriage – see what you've done Todd Howard? It's not all Justin pouring love on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim though, Griffin has a few things to say about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Richard has some kind words for Rayman Origins. In Part 2 Richard chats with Jamie Dillion, Project Manager at Child's Play. If you are not familiar with this Penny Arcade-founded charity for children's hospitals, you may just be a bad person, but here's where you can turn it all around. This week's show final segment continues the philanthropic trend with an interview with LoadingReadyRun's Graham Stark, Paul Saunders, and Kathleen De Vere about their annual masochistic charity drive, Desert Bus for Hope. Part 1 (1:40) - Now Playing: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Rayman Origins Part 2 (47:22) - Interview: Child's Play Part 3 (1:04:09) - Interview: Desert Bus for Hope Get the podcast: [iTunes] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast in iTunes [Zune] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast directly in the Zune Marketplace [RSS] Add the Joystiq Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator [MP3] Download the MP3 directly Host: Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM) Guests: Jamie Dillion, Graham Stark (@graham_lrr), Paul Saunders, and Kathleen De Vere (@kathleen_lrr) Producer: Jonathan Downin (@jonathandownin - Game Thing Daily) Production Coordinator: Richard Mitchell Music: Trash80 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim View the full guest list and stream the show after the break.

It's a game explosion this week and you better get used to it, because the season only gets crazier from here. Up first, Richard, Ludwig and Griffin share their experiences with Lord of the Rings: War in the North, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, and Sonic Generations. Guess which one of these games features the protagonist kissing a human woman. Battlefield 3 takes the hot seat this week with some tough love. Arthur joins in to explain why a game with so many issues deserves the score he gave it. Alexander and Ben also get in on the multiplayer love-fest. And Spoiled Rotten is back. Chris assembled his own team of villains to discuss the ins-and-outs of Batman: Arkham City. But beware, you're about to get punched with spoilers. Part 1 (1:27) - Now Playing: Lord of the Rings: War in the North, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, and Sonic Generations Part 2 (54:07) - Roundtable: Battlefield 3 Part 3 (1:41:36) - Spoiled Rotten: Batman: Arkham City Get the podcast: [iTunes] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast in iTunes [Zune] Subscribe to the Joystiq Podcast directly in the Zune Marketplace [RSS] Add the Joystiq Podcast feed to your RSS aggregator [MP3] Download the MP3 directly Host: Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM) Producer: Jonathan Downin (@jonathandownin - Game Thing Daily) Production Coordinator: Richard Mitchell Music: Trash80, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Battlefield 3, and Batman: Arkham City Stream the show after the break.

Now Playing is back with a double-dose of games this week. JC talks about the latest Professor Layton, but the real love in this episodes comes with Dungeon Defenders. The mobile game has arrived on consoles and PC, and it has more to offer than you might expect-- just listen to excitement in Alexander's voice. Comic Con isn't just for those on the west coast. Ben and Shacknews' Andrew Yoon were on-hand at Comic Con's east coast contingent, and they saw some cool things. Maybe you would like to hear some anecdotes about Ken Levine and how bosses are being handled in Bioshock Infinite? If Dark Souls is more your speed, or you're just a connoisseur of varied experience like Richard and Griffin, make sure to stick around for a lengthy discussion with GamePro's Kat Bailey about the unique, and sometimes torturous, experience of From Software's latest. Diablo 3 doesn't launch this year, but that won't stymie the excitement surrounding the game. The beta has been available for a few weeks now, affording the lucky few who made it in a chance to get a feel for what is in-store when the long-awaited sequel finally hits. In this week's Joystiq Show, Richard is joined by self-described Blizzard fanboy, and Joystiq Contributing Editor, Mike Schramm to discuss the Diablo 3 beta at length. It's time to say goodbye to the Tokyo Game Show. TGS 2011 proved to be the biggest and most attended yet, and while the guys spilled the details of what they saw at the show in the two previous specials, this one is all about the Japan experience. You love hearing about Japan craziness, right? Richard, JC and Ben share a few stories about their time spent wandering the concrete jungle of Tokyo, and then it's on to an interview with Suda 51. Deus Ex: Human Revolution kicked-off the season of big releases a couple of weeks ago, and along with it came no shortage of controversy. GameStop pulled PC copies and ended up giving purchasers a $50 voucher after removing the included OnLive codes. An interview with Shawn Freeman provides a look at one side of that story, and some insight into GameStop's future digital plans. The retail situation was not the only source of controversy though. While Human Revolution was widely praised for the many elements it got right, there were a few divisive ones that couldn't be overlooked. Plenty of frustrations are shared in this week's roundtable, but remember, it comes from a place of love -- mostly. There are very few publishers that can stand toe-to-toe with Capcom's legacy. How different would the gaming landscape be without the likes of Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Mega Man and so many more? But things have changed at Capcom, and not necessarily for the better. Richard talks with former Capcom Producer Ben Judd and 8-4's Mark MacDonald about the state of Capcom in the context of modern Japanese game development. The guys over The Mega Man Network also share some of their thoughts on the recent cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3. It's summer, and that means a wasteland of retail releases, but never fear, there are plenty of great smaller titles on the way. XBLA has turned the Summer drought into a veritable smorgasbord of great downloadable releases, and the indie scene is looking to bring their goods as well. Twisted Pixel delivered Ms. Splosion Man last week, and Richard talks with Twisted Pixel's Frank Wilson about the follow-up to 2009's XBLA hit. Indie games are also getting their due with an interview about the Indie Games Summer Uprising on XBL.
