Netflix's 'Masters of the Universe' premieres July 23rd with action figures in tow
Netflix is premiering Kevin Smith's 'Masters of the Universe: Revelation' series on July 23rd, and it's showing off the matching action figures.
Lego Batman 3 trailer casts Arrow's Amell, Conan O'Brien
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment issued a new trailer for Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham today, which shows a few of the big-name voice actors talking about their involvement in the Lego superhero game. As previously announced, Conan O'Brien will be a playable character in the game, joining the likes of film director Kevin Smith and Arrow's Stephen Amell, the latter reprising his role as Green Arrow. Lego Batman 3 will launch on November 11 for a whole mess of platforms: PS4, PS3, Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U and 3DS. Players will be able to pick up the game's $14.99 season pass that guarantees access to six DLC add-ons. It will also be packed in to its own $270 PS3 bundle at launch. Randal from Kevin Smith's Clerks to voice Randal's Monday
Fans of Kevin Smith's 1994 geek-comedy film Clerks (or its raunchy 2006 sequel) might want to take note of Randal's Monday, a point-and-click adventure game from Daedalic Entertainment and Nexus Game Studios coming this fall to PC. Why? Because Randal of Randal's Monday will be voiced by Randal of Clerks, actor Jeff Anderson. "When we first started to design this story in that filthy old garage, we could never have imagined that he would end up being the voice of our Randal," lead producer Enric Costa said in a related press release. "Nobody else in the world could ever interpret Randal better than he does. It's like the icing on the cake for this huge project." According to the press release, Anderson will also help develop the game's script. Randal's Monday is a game that pays homage to nerd culture in more ways than its choice of voice actor; Daedalic and Nexus are populating the game with references and homages a plenty. The game's announcement trailer, for example, combines The Twilight Zone with Freaks and Geeks within the first ten seconds. Kevin Smith is making video games now
Writer, producer and actor extraordinaire Kevin Smith is breaking into video game development with a new studio. His first title will be "an iPad thing," Smith said during Spike TV's pre-E3 coverage, but he said he'd like to do a Jay and Silent Bob FPS, because that way he and "Jay" actor Jason Mewes would stay young and active forever.
Defying App Store dogma with the Kevin Smith app
The question is this: If an application that simulates flatulence is worth 99 cents, is it reasonable to spend the same amount on an app that delivers a full-force, stun-an-elephant dosage of information about one cult actor/director? We're about to find out: here comes the Kevin Smith app [iTunes link], for everything Kevin Smith and all your Kevin Smith needs. If you're thinking "Who is Kevin Smith and why should I care?" you can tune out now; this app isn't for you. If you quote Chasing Amy, have dressed up as a character from Clerks for Halloween, and voluntarily chose to see Jersey Girl: it's your lucky day. The $0.99 app includes a custom feed of candid Kevin photos, a single-user Twitter client (!) so you can follow Kevin's 140-character bon mots, news feeds from Kevin's site with podcast/media downloads, a "photo with Silent Bob" tool, a Rant soundboard of Kevin quips... even a Kevin ringtone to go with your Kevin wallpaper. I am not making any of this up. In fairness to Kevin and his development team, I don't think they're taking themselves completely seriously here -- and if when Kevin and co. come to Macworld Expo to promote the app, you can bet we will be there to get an in-person demo. To quote the man, the myth, the legend: Yes, it may be the Pet Rock of the 21st century. But be honest: you've spent .99 cents on way dumber crap. If you're remotely into my nonsense, at the very least, this me-centric app will make you smile. At the very most, you'll put a noose around your neck, utter "It's all for you, Official Kevin Smith iPhone App!", and step off a ledge. Let's hope your reaction's somewhere betwixt the two. I'm almost afraid to search the store to see what other single-subject apps have been officially endorsed by their celebrity co-creators. If you had to pick a person that was deserving of his or her own app (aside from Kevin Smith), who would it be and why?
Paul Kent gives TUAW the latest news about Macworld 2010
As a Mac-head who has attended the Macworld Expo and Conference on and off since the late 1980s, I met the announcement last December that Apple would no longer attend the event with a big, jaw-breaking yawn. Personally, I never attended Macworld for the Apple display, which was overcrowded and staffed by Apple employees who usually knew less about the new products than I did. The keynotes were usually a highlight, but hard to get into, and without Steve Jobs as the "star," it just wouldn't be the same. My reason for going to Macworld has always been the same; to see great new software or hardware made to work with Apple products, meet with manufacturers and developers, and to enjoy the camaraderie of the large group of buddies I've made at Macworld Expo in the past. So, when I saw that registration for Macworld 2010 had opened, I immediately jumped on the website and signed up. To me, it's a no-brainer to attend the original and only US conference that is all about Apple. Macworld Expo has been around for 25 years, and all indications are that it will continue for as long as the Macintosh and other Apple platforms exist. Yesterday, I talked with Paul Kent, General Manager, Macworld 2010 and Vice President of IDG World Expo, about Macworld 2010 and how preparations are coming along for the show.

We've all seen some Alliance kiddie named "ikillhoarde" or a Warlock named "ifearyoudie." After all, what Horde wouldn't run for cover from a Hunter who's named after his very death? And woe is the person who actually thinks he can get away from a Warlock's fear. Phear the lock, baby.Add titles into the mix. "Doora the Explorer" is probably my favorite of all time. Every time I see someone named that I yell out "Swiper, No Swiping!" The Silent Bob approach to group management
The world of groups: pugs, raids, arenas, guilds, confederations, servers; all of it means one thing: you have to know how to get along with each other. A big part of getting along with one another in a successful group is knowing how and when to get information across. This communication is often times hard to do, even for the most seasoned communicator. How do you tell someone that their tanking is so awful you'd rather let the hunter's pet be the main tank? What do you say to a healer to get them to understand that healing means more than casting their biggest heal all the time? And what do you do with the DPS who always decides to pull for the group?Recently I've taken up a new way to deal with all these things. I call it the Silent Bob approach to group management.The approach is outlined by three simple steps.

Yesterday I was out tromping around Nagrand with my Shaman leveling her up, killing mob after mob. There was a point that when I killed about 10 mobs in a row, and I thought to myself "Killing Spree!" Harking back to the days of yore and Quake 3.This got me thinking. There is one critical achievement that is missing in the game. A killing spree achievement, ideally reached when you kill 37 mobs in a row without stopping. In fact, there's a great title for it featured as the name of this article. Go ahead Blizzard, take this one idea for free. To you, from me; your friend Adam.But oh wait, there's more. Preparing for Wrath Day 6: Have a nice night with some pots, stones, and oils
There's only six more days until Wrath's release. Each day until the release we'll take a look at one thing you can do to prepare for the expansion. Taking a half hour here and there to get things ready before release will let you spend more time in Northrend and less time doing some of the un-fun things.Yesterday Alison cover bringing the right food and drinks to Northrend. Quite important to get ready ahead of time if you want to level quickly and easily. Along the same lines are potions, stones, and oils to take with you on your journeys.Let's take look at a long list of some easily obtainable items you should stock up on now. The goal of this list is to go over things that will survive through death. So we're not putting things like elixirs on it. No need to waste lots of expensive items when you die. Also, while flasks are definitely an option to use if you have them, chances are they're all used up with the last bit of raiding in Burning Crusade.
WoW Insider is taking over the world

Wii casemod makes a quick stop into our hearts
Ramon Stokes is clearly the go-to person when it comes to prettying up the Wii. First, there was this Zelda mod, then this Metroid mod, and after that this really great Rockstar mod. Now, he's at it again, this time with a Wii mod commissioned for Kevin Smith himself. As you can see, the casemod features the four main Clerks characters on the front. The back has a View Askew insignia, and the Nunchucks are labeled "Kevin Smith" and "Silent Bob" (though we're not sure how Smith would manage to play as himself and his movie persona at the same time). This beauty was commissioned as a Christmas gift for Kevin Smith, and took about 60 hours to make. Silent Bob wants to be in a video game
Speaking to Yahoo! Games, filmmaker Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith (Clerks, Dogma) talked about his interest in making a game based on his characters Jay and Silent Bob. Admitting that "games is one field that i like to be entertained, rather than try to be entertaining," Smith asserted that he'd be willing to write a back story for a game if someone else could handle everything else: "levels and challenges and bosses and things like that, I'm not so good at coming up with that kind of stuff," he said. Smith has two things going against him, though: his films center around dialogue and humor. And, as you may know, good humor and dialogue can spell certain disaster for any video game (see: Psychonauts). If Smith wants any hope of success in this industry, he had better base the game off of Jay and Silent Bob's alter-egos, Bluntman and Chronic. Drugs, babes, bad guys, guns, and excessive violence are the only sure-fire way to make a profit in gaming. Or film, for that matter. Snoochie Boochies![Via 1UP]
Apple thinks Silent Bob has too much to say
Kevin Smith, aka Silent Bob (and a feature speaker at the upcoming Macworld Expo), is one of many celebrities asked to whip up an iTunes Celebrity Playlist. Being an Apple fanboy, and one eager to promote the Clerks II DVD, he finally agreed, after having blown it off when previously asked, due to scheduling issues. So have you seen or heard Kevin's playlist in the iTunes Store? Nope. And you are not likely to anytime soon. I'll let Kevin explain why..."Cut to three weeks ago, when - as another promotional vehicle for the 'Clerks II' DVD - I was afforded a second bite at the iTunes apple (pun intended). [...] 'This is a great playlist,' Darin from Apple wrote. 'Too great, actually. We don't have the space for comments that run that long. Will he be OK with us editing them (significantly) or would he prefer to do that himself? Two sentences for each track is a good outline.' [...] But the idea of trimming down (significantly, apparently) that Rorschach of the Soul known as the Celebrity Playlist didn't interest me. So with no hard feelings on either behalf, I declined inclusion." Since Apple didn't want Kevin's Playlist, he published it on his blog - full commentary intact. Check it out here. There are some great tracks there and it's quite an eclectic mix. Warning for the young'uns and those reading while at work - some of the material on Kevin's blog may not be suitable for your consumption unless your folks have gone to bed or your boss has already left for the day.
IDG unveiles Macworld 07 event highlights including Kevin Smith, David Pogue
Get your frequent flier miles ready boys and girls, cuz IDG has just announced the event highlights for the Macworld 07 (of course, if you're a lucky SF resident, you can probably hang onto those miles). Key speakers include Kevin Smith (yea, the), as well as the New York Times' own David Pogue. Of course, Mr. J's keynote has been confirmed again, and let's not forget it should shape up to be quite the event considering IDG added a second hall.Personally, I'm with reader boom bam boom bam bam's comment: I think we should turn Steve's 'Boom!' into a drinking game.
