In this, the Great Console Wars of The Year of Luigi, we'll let you decide which system came up trumps in the battle of the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon demos. For its part the other night, Microsoft went with a brief demo of the Xbox One's personalized user interface, followed by some beard-enhancing scanning ahead of a spot of jet-skiing in Kinect Sports Rivals. As Microsoft's Blain Howard noted, that Sports Rivals jet-skiing game is a temporary freebie for early adopters. As long as you download the Preseason trial before November 30, you'll be able to make some motion-controlled waves until March 2014.

  • Watch Ice-T bully robots in Jimmy Fallon's PS4 demo of The Playroom

The PlayStation 4 returned on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this week with a cuter, cuddlier demo in contrast to Killzone: Shadow Fall. Yet it still led to undue physical violence. Some people, like Fallon, just want to play and have fun with the adorable augmented-reality robots of tech demo The Playroom. Then there are people like Fallon's guest Ice-T, who can't resist giving the innocent little androids a boot up the hiney. While the audience was impressed by what The Playroom can do, they reserved their fullest applause for when a poor robot was pelted flat against the screen by the rapper-turned-actor. Don't forget, this guy has starred in fighting games as himself. The Playroom is pre-installed on every PS4, and as you can see it uses the PlayStation Camera in some impressive ways. Check out own less violent hands-on video right here.

In honor of Video Game Week, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon's team collaborated with Felicia Day, Chris Hardwick and the WoW community to put a video together of a parody song, as you can see above. The video was aired last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and shows off not only the three aforementioned stars, but also several podcasters, streamers, and content creators, all members of our WoW community. As one of those people, specifically the one swaying gently with the gryphon plushy, I can give you a little bit of background! Blizzard sent out an email a couple of weeks back, asking for people to create a video of themselves singing along to the chorus. There were no other stipulations, and, as Blizzard had no control whatsoever over the finished product, there were no guarantees that your clip would be included. And, of course, we had to keep it under our hats. Luckily, they didn't use our audio. Hope you like it, I was honored to be included!

The last we heard about The Last of Us arriving at retail, it was pinned to "late 2012/early 2013." That date seemingly shifted to a less definitive "2013" recently, as Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley told Jimmy Fallon as much on last night's Late Night. The Naughty Dog duo also gave Fallon a personal walkthrough of the gameplay we saw back at E3, with 100 percent fewer swears and 100 percent more Jimmy Fallon commentary. If you're into that kinda thing, we've got it above.

As promised, the first console-based action from Battlefield 3 appeared last evening on Jimmy Fallon's late night show, teasing a scene we've watched play out a dozen or so times now on the PC version. Despite the grumblings of many long-time PC Battlefield gamers -- not to mention our own doubts -- BF3 running on PlayStation 3 looks pretty wonderful. We'll leave it to the pixel counters at Digital Foundry to fully analyze the difference between console and PC releases of Battlefield 3 when it launches this October, but given our lack of expensive gaming rigs and our overabundance of Xbox 360s and PlayStation 3s, you can guess where we'll be playing the next big Battlefield title. Head past the break to see how Fallon fared.

  • Uncharted 3 scouts Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Of all the things that Jimmy Fallon is -- a man who can't help but laugh at his own jokes, half the starring cast of the hit film Taxi -- he's been largely represented on Joystiq in one way: as a gamer. Fallon held up his reputation once again last night by having Naughty Dogs Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra on to show off Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, playing through a bit of the demo we saw last week at E3. Most odd about the demo, however, is Fallon's repeated amazement at what the game does when he himself isn't actually controlling Drake's actions. If Naughty Dog was hoping for Fallon to dramatically point out the game's scripted action moments, he more than overdelivers. Head past the break and look on in amazement with us, won't you?

We expected Jimmy Fallon to flip out during Reggie Fils-Aime's 3DS demonstration during last night's episode of Late Night. We expected the audience to get a kick out of the device's AR functionality. However, we did not expect the 3DS to swap Fallon's gender on live national television. Priceless.

  • The Soapbox: Game developers are not rock stars

Disclaimer: The Soapbox column is entirely the opinion of this week's writer and does not necessarily reflect the views of Massively as a whole. If you're afraid of opinions other than your own, you might want to skip this column. Take a moment to think of your single favorite game developer. Is this person your favorite because of his talent? Maybe he made a game that influenced you growing up, or he has a charming personality for interviews. Whatever the reason, we probably all have our favorite game developers whom we hold on a pedestal of greatness. But did this one person make the game entirely by himself? Did Sid Meier write every line of code for the Civilization games? Did Richard Garriott draw every texture in Tabula Rasa? No, of course they didn't, but their names are right there on the box, showing ownership. Despite my own fanboy appreciation of certain devs, the title of this article says it all. With a few notable exceptions, those who make our favorite games make up a collective group of talented people who come together under proper leadership and design guidelines to create something that keeps us entertained for hours/weeks/months/years. So why do we pick out one or two and treat them like rock stars?

Felicia Day appeared on yesterday's episode of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" to promote Dragon Age: Redemption, a six-episode web series in which she plays Tallis, a sarcastic elf assassin. Uh, that is to say, she's a sarcastic elf and an assassin -- otherwise she'd have to stab herself immediately. Day reveals that there's no danger of that happening by accident, as she spent several months training with daggers before filming. The enthusiastic star didn't share much in the way of plot or how it connects with Dragon Age 2, but the first trailer (embedded after break) reveals that it won't be all dialogue trees. Based on the brief bit of footage, we can deduce that Tallis' main activities include sprinting through forests, ducking beneath axes and smoldering directly into the camera.

Also appearing: teenage jokes, visions of a lunar eclipse, legally / illegally downloaded content and the Nexus X. Yeah, the X. See what we mean in the pair of videos just past the break.

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon hosted a televised demonstration of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception gameplay, which you can view right after the break. Guided by Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra, the brief snippet sees series star Nathan Drake and cohort Sully scurrying through a burning, rapidly disintegrating chateau. It's not much, but just enough to tolerate some of Jimmy's unassisted potshots.

Naughty Dog has revealed a little more (or a lot more, depending on your television) about Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception -- specifically the fact that the game will support stereoscopic 3D. Yes, we know what that means: Sully's mustache will never have looked more real. In related news (related to Uncharted 3, not Victor Sullivan's facial hair), Late Night host Jimmy Fallon has taken to Twitter with word that the game's developer will be his guests on Monday, December 13. The Naughty Dog crew will deliver the first live gameplay demo of its latest PS3-exclusive adventure -- in mind-blowing 2D, just like the teaser video posted after the break.%Gallery-109626%

  • Jimmy Fallon gives everyone in his audience a Kinect

Giving out Kinect to a studio audience just seems like the classy thing to do these days. Oprah did it, and now Jimmy Fallon is doing it too. Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, after demoing Kinect Sports and Dance Central with Microsoft's Kudo Tsunoda and Harmonix's Naoko Takamoto, the affable host announced that everyone in the audience would be leaving with an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle. We're happy for the audience, but the event was overshadowed by another occurrence. It was something rarely seen on the mortal plane, something more precious than a unicorn: Kudo wasn't wearing sunglasses. Jimmy and Kudo actually discussed the missing eyewear before staring their play session, and it turns out he took off the shades for his mother. Say it with us: Awwwwwww.

Lest you weren't glued to your television sets last night, our own Josh Topolsky raised quite a bit of mayhem on Jimmy Fallon's Late Night show. After doing the professional thing and showing off the minuscule Apple TV and Roku XDS media streamers, Josh proceeded to power up an AR.Drone quadricopter and fly it around the studio in a decidedly menacing fashion. For video of Jimmy's courageous reaction and the fallout from this robot invasion, jump past the break. [Thanks, Sonny]

Why wait for Cliff Bleszinski to debut Gears of War 3 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? Here's the trailer for the "worst-kept secret in the video game industry," posted to the Late Night website (and embedded above) ... before it's appeared on television. The trailer is prefaced by some banter with Mister B about his vintage Nintendo Power appearance and what makes a great game. The new game has playable female soldiers in it! Take that, Crackdown 2! Don't worry, it's still jam-packed with men who look like refrigerators and mellow music, like the famous Gears of War trailer (in this case, Sun Kil Moon's "Heron Blue"). Other elements mentioned by Cliff include new weapons and new aliens -- "crazy tentacle monsters" with mutating ability. Bleszinski said GOW3 will arrive "probably around April 8" -- one year after his Late Night appearance was supposed to be shown. Wouldn't that have been nice marketing? Oh, well. Update: Official release date is April 5, 2011. And catch Cliff's Late Night appearance after the break. %Gallery-90396%
