[Update 1: The announcement was about Bone for the PC and not for the DS. It mentions that the publisher is "focusing on the PC and Nintendo DS markets", not the game. We apologize for the misunderstanding. Thanks to eric c for the correction!]Before the episodic Sam & Max games, Telltale Games were known among adventure game holdouts for their adaptations of Jeff Smith's Bone comic series. They followed a similar business model: periodic, bite-sized chunks of delicious puzzle solving, set in cult comic book trappings. Now publisher Xider is bringing the Bone games to the DS PC and unidentified games to the DS in Europe in 2007. We hope that they decide to bring them stateside as well, and that they don't decide to shoehorn weird touch screen/microphone puzzles into what is supposed to be a pretty good adventure series. It's still possible, but the identities of the DS games have yet to be announced. We're so proud of our little DS, bringing back two of our favorite long-lost game genres: the graphical text adventure and the 3D adventure game.

It's another game release Thursday in Kyoto, and the chilling haru ichiban wind is a-blowin'. Time to get the fire going, pour a hot cup of green tea, and make ourselves comfortable in that red leather armchair. It's time like these when games like Layton (see above) are most welcome. And alongside the noble Professor Layton's latest adventure with Level-5, we're happy to stuff a few other portable gems inside our carrier bag today: Bleach DS 2nd (more Treasure love; DS) Professor Layton's Mysterious Town (the talk of Kyoto town; DS) Lumines II (Japan has been very patient with you, Mr. Mizuguchi; PSP) Tales of Destiny 2 (because Namco doesn't know when to stop; PSP)

An event held in Japan to celebrate the release of Professor Layton on an unsuspecting public, we wonder exactly what was going on. Machine translation isn't the best, so we're left just staring at a couple of pictures from the event, some of which are rather odd. Take, for example, the post picture to the right. Why in the world is the Professor taking such a careful eye to that OJ? I guess we'll never know ...More pictures have been included past the post break.
