For all of you whipoholics out there, we've got an adventure for you. The website for the upcoming LEGO Indiana Jones game has gone live. What is the adventure? Exploring the deepest, darkest and most dangerous corners of the small slice of internet it occupies. It's a little light on the DS side, instead offering up screens and other media from the console versions of the game, but there's some nice concept art to look at, as well as a link to a demo of the game you can play on your PC. That's something, right? Right?

The Lego Indiana Jones website is now live and features a little "treasure hunt" game where users search for riches and can then "purchase" wallpapers, avatars and coloring sheets. There's also the standard stuff like a community forum and screenshots, along with the trailer for the game. A downloadable demo should be available for PC on May 13 (also available on the movie DVDs) and we're not finding any information on a console demo, but that doesn't mean there won't be one. Lego Indy begins beating up Nazis random cult members at retail June 3.

  • Fresh round of screens for LEGO Indy

Call the underside of a rock your home? Then you might not have heard that Indiana Jones is finally back in cinemas on May 22nd, and that as Harrison Ford is dragging his creaking frame around the silver screen again, there'll be a game released to milk the event some more. We'd like to be really cynical about LEGO Indiana Jones, but heck, the LEGO Star Wars games were actually surprisingly fun affairs, and we suspect this will be much of the same, only with a daft number of characters. Oh, and it's Friday evening. We're in way too good a mood to be horrible about games on Friday evenings.Flee from a giant boulder and past the break for more screens, courtesy of our French chums at Wiiz.%Gallery-15539%

  • LEGO Indiana Jones to feature a lot of playable characters

No, we didn't mix up Indiana Jones with a Mortal Kombat game; the latest LEGO title, LEGO Indiana Jones. will feature more characters than you could possibly ever need. 60, to be exact. When thinking back on the three films that will form the basis for the upcoming game, we're wondering if there are even 60 characters. Sure, there's the bald Nazi guy who gets greased by the plane propeller and John Rhys-Davies, but what else? We guess you'll be playing as non-human characters too, like that little monkey and 40 different species of snake.%Gallery-15539%[Via Joystiq]

  • Lego Indy to have more than 60 playable characters

Pop quiz time, hot shot: Name 60 characters from the Indiana Jones movies. Having trouble? We got to about a dozen before we had to start stretching the definition of "character" with things like "Nazi guard No. 2" and "Train Car Full of Snakes." Despite this, Activision is somehow promising to squeeze 60 playable characters into the upcoming Lego Indiana Jones, according to a fact sheet reprinted by VideoGaming247.com. Of course it's easy to have a boatload of characters when creating a new one is just a matter of putting a new jacket and hat on a Lego Minifigure, but the info. sheet also promises "character specific abilities" such as "excavation by Satipo, an umbrella slide by Marcus Brody, and monkey access by Marion Ravenwood." That's all well and good, but we're really looking forward to "Nazi Guard No. 2's" special ability, which we hear involves melting and exploding. Fun for the whole family.

  • LEGO: Indy officially swings to UK retail on June 6th

Earlier today, Activision announced that LEGO: Indiana Jones will be headed to European retailers on Friday, June 6th and (we're guessing) to North America on the 3rd. And if that sounds familiar, it's because we sort of already knew about the June 6th release when, earlier last month, UK GAME stores let slip the release via a promotional press release. But now we have the release date confirmed, straight from Acti's mouth and nobody can argue it. And no arguing about four player co-op either, because we've already been informed that it's 2 player co-op. Mmkay?

Those of us in North America aren't the only ones looking forward to this summer, as our friends across the pond in Europe will be getting the game only a few short days after we do. Even without the 4-player co-op, LEGO Indiana Jones still looks incredibly promising.Thankfully, some new screens for the game have made their way onto the net. We've tucked them under the brim of our gallery below, so whip through them and tell us what you think! %Gallery-15539%

Whipping into retail soon is Lego Indiana Jones: The Video Game, from the makers of the über-popular Lego Star Wars series. The title features gameplay pulled from the story of all three classic Indy films and if the video above is any indication, the humor and reference homages will be front and center. Set to hit retail on the Xbox 360 and pretty much every other console under the sun this Summer, the developers at Traveller's Tales look to continue their streak of solid licensed releases. Now someone get them to actually make that Lego Halo game EGM joked about, like ASAP.Update: We knew there was a reason we quit drinking. We posted this story earlier in the week, that's what we get for going to $9 beer night.

PAL gamers won't be left hanging to get their mitts on LEGO Indiana Jones this summer, with just three days dividing the game's release in the U.S. and Europe. That's according to a press release from Jersey-based retailer Play.com, which inadvertently revealed the game would be hitting the continent on June 6th. Eurogamer got on the blower to its mole at Activision, who confirmed the date. Pretty much makes up for the months we'll have to wait for Brawl, amirite? No? Hello? A press release for Play.com's Live event revealed that Lego Indiana Jones, slated to be playable at the event, is coming to retail channels on June 6. Eurogamer has confirmed the date with the ever-reliable "Top Secret Games Industry Source" and, frankly, we're happy for our European readers who don't have to wait for the usual long delay between North American release (coming June 3). The June 6 date reportedly applies to all platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and DS. Eurogamer's source also noted that Lego Batman is coming later this year.

UK retailer Play.com just let slip some release date details for the not so four player co-op LEGO: Indiana Jones. Simply put, the game should release sometime around June 6th.LEGO: Indy's release date details were leaked via Play.com's recently announced Play.com Live event where, in their press release, revealed that LEGO: Indy would be playable at the event and that the game would be "on sale June 6th on all consoles". Using that nugget of knowledge, Eurogamer contacted Activision who refused to comment on the June release date, but they then confirmed with their "Top Secret Senior Games Industry Source" that the June release is indeed fact. So, even though it isn't the official word from Acti, one could expect to experience LEGO boulder running this June.

  • Lego Indy Footage: Gameplay, Boulder Running

To go with today's earlier story about Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures we bring you the latest piece of footage released by Lucasarts. The clip begins in a cutscene that displays the quirky humor that the Lego games have become know for, then moves into gameplay where we see the whip in action alongside the usual brick-breaking Lego action. After a few minutes the gameplay cuts to the infamous boulder scene and we get to see the characters run toward the screen while jumping over spikes, pits and more. Despite the increase in number of games for the IP (don't forget, there's going to be a Lego MMO) it seems that the quality across the board remains high, with everything from level design to humor to reward systems all looking to be worth their while. It's just too bad that Lego Halo game turned out to be fake.

  • Lego Indy Demo included in US Indy DVD set

For those big Indiana Jones fans out there who were thinking of picking up the DVD box set of the original trilogy, it will be seeing a little something extra in that box on May 13. The special edition boxed set is set to come with a trailer and demo of the forthcoming game, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, which is itself set to be released almost a month later on the 3rd of June. Unfortunately, our European readers are out of luck on this, as the promotion applies only to Region 1 discs, but it is likely that there will be a demo released via XBLM, after all, Lego Star Wars had a demo. With the new movie set to open worldwide a week after the special edition boxed sets, one would think that Lucasarts would've that promotion worldwide too. Oh well.

It's a safe bet that every video game nerd worth their fedora has June 3 already circled on their calendar, and plans to brave venomous asps and rolling boulders in order to pick up and play Traveller's Tales upcoming Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures the day it swings to retail. Still, those few who remain unconvinced of the marriage of twelve o'clock shadow and Lego bricks can look forward to trying the game out early, as Paramount and Lucasfilm plan to include both a trailer and playable demo on a set of special edition DVD versions of the Indy movies shipping out in mid-May. The discs will be available both individually, as well as bundled together as a box set, and will be available on May 13, just prior to that new Crystal Skull adventure. It's unclear which version of the game will be represented by the included demo, with Lego Indiana Jones currently expected to fight Nazis anonymous cultists on every platform under the sun -- though let's be honest, we hope the demo will make the rounds online on or around the same time.

  • Lego Indiana Jones to feature two-player co-op, not four

    by

    02.23.2008

An earlier report that LEGO Indiana Jones will feature four-player cooperative play has proven to be false. The game will instead feature the same two-player drop-in, drop-out gameplay as seen in the LEGO Star Wars titles, as well as the upcoming LEGO Batman. The confusion stems from MTV's recent sit-down with developer Traveller's Tales, who discussed the game's features, including the ability to have up to four characters on-screen at any time. Understandibly, MTV misconstrued this to mean that four players could play simultaneously, when in fact Traveller's Tales was merely highlighting that players could switch between multiple on-screen characters -- a feature that should be familiar to fans of TT's other LEGO games. Apologies to our readers for the erroneous information. We cool?

One of the big things revealed about LEGO Indiana Jones was a four-player co-op mode. Turns out, that's not something that's going to be available to those eager to whip a blocky, LEGO version of Indiana Jones' whip. Nope, no 4-player.Shawn Storc was the one to crush the dreams of those with more than one friend to play with, commenting "Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures will feature the user friendly drop-in/drop-out two-player cooperative feature that players have come to know and love." Storc also added "However, we are not expanding this feature to a higher player count."Big bummer to those that were looking forward to this being the next big party game. Looks like you're going to be restricted to more of a soirée and less of a party.%Gallery-15539%

  • Scratch that, no four play co-op for LEGO: Indy

We'll apologize in advance to those fanboys who have an obsessive love of the LEGO franchise and were looking forward to LEGO: Indiana Jones' four player online co-op. True, it was "confirmed" a few days ago by the crew over at MTV Multiplayer, but we've since learned that four player co-op has been ... "un-confirmed".MTV Multiplayer just posted a mild retraction after a LEGO: Indy producer cleared up the four player miscommunication. The new official details state that the game will allow for four players to be on the screen at once, but only two players can be controlled at any given time. Not four. And really, that's a big bummer. We guess we'll just have to stick with Halo 3 if we want four player co-op shenanigans. Stupid bricks.

Concealed deep within Stephen Totilo's impressions of LEGO Indiana Jones, positioned on a platform beyond a series of deadly, dart-based traps, we came across a rare, precious treasure of inestimable value: details of the DS version, and a release date! Trembling with anticipation, our eyes lit by nearby torches, we grabbed the loot, and rolled beneath the rapidly closing exit, stylishly snatching our hat on the way.Once outside, we examined our haul, and found that Traveler's Tales' whip-crackin', boulder-fleein' game would ship on June 3rd. Totilo -- sorry, the treasure -- also revealed that the DS version would feature stylus control for Indy's whip, will have microphone support (to blow out torches, natch), and will allow us to control the monkey from Raiders of the Lost Ark.Monkeys can only make anything better, really.

MTV's Stephen Totilo managed to get a sneak peak at the upcoming Indiana Jones-based LEGO title from developer Traveler's Tales. Sure, he played the Xbox 360 version of the game, but that doesn't mean there isn't information on the Wii port on offer.First of all, up to four players will be able to take part in the fun, however the majority of the game's puzzles are designed to incorporate two players. Also, Indy's whip will be handled through motion-based controls much like the lightsaber handled in LEGO Star Wars. The expected release date for the game is June 3, 2008.%Gallery-15539%
