It's been a busy week at Twitter, what with new rollouts like an upgraded search engine that'll pull in older tweets and a simplified search tool for mobile app users. So it's now time to have some fun. As a little easter egg, the social media giant has added a LOLcat language option to add a bit of internet meme flavor to the normal Twitter web interface. The changes are what you might expect: Twitter is now TWTTR, "Compose new tweet" is COMPOZE NEW TWEET, "conversation" is CONVERSASHUN, "Who to follow" is HOO 2 FOLLOW and so forth. No, your timeline won't automatically transform into a stream of grammatical and spelling errors and your own tweets won't be magically LOLcat-ified either (for that, we suggest hitting the Speak LOLcat translator link below). Still, it's a fun little weekend distraction if you're not quite tired of the I Can Has Cheezburger meme just yet. You'll find "LOLCATZ" under the language drop down section in Settings, or you can just click on the source to check out your Twitter page in all its LOLcat glory.

  • Airtime lets you share media while you video chat, reminds you That Napster Guy is still around

Hey, remember the guy that created Napster, Shawn Fanning? Do you remember Facebook co-founder (and supposed Justin Timberlake doppelganger) Sean Parker? Good, as that'll make it easier to understand why the two have created Airtime, a heavily hyped new peer-to-peer video chat service. The aim is to offer a one-on-one conversation that helps people understand each other, with shared interests and the ability to quickly fling that LOLcat video to a friend or significant other. It's launching first on Facebook, which is nothing new for video chat, but the absence of any in-between servers and special plugins beyond Flash eliminates a lot of the usual hurdles. More features are coming in the near future, including a decidedly Flash-free iOS app, music streaming and games -- leaving us with considerably more things to do while we reconnect, or at least a more engaging way to reminisce about the Napster days.

  • Wrath 101: The Oracles and the Frenzyheart Tribe

Throughout the lifespan of Ask a Beta Tester (now The Queue), people have asked if there are any factions like the Aldor and Scryers. Are there two factions like that, you get to pick one or the other? The answer is yes, but they don't play as big of a role. They're less prime players of the expansion, and more lolcat comedy relief.I'm convinced that this situation in Sholazar Basin isn't to be determined by which faction you like more, but which faction you hate less. The two warring factions are The Oracles and the Frenzyheart Tribe. The Oracles are a group of fully sentient, 'intelligent' gorlocs (a step up in murloc evolution) that unknowingly worship the Titans. The Frenzyheart Tribe are a tribe of wolvar (little wolverine men) and they're fairly new to Sholazar Basin. They're huge jerks that do jerk things and steal gorloc land like jerks. The gorlocs do have big, annoyingly floppy tongues though, so I guess it's justified.

  • PSN accounts possibly compromised, 'small percentage' affected

Sony has dropped details of a possible security breach in the PC PlayStation Store, whereby a "small percentage" of PSN user accounts could have been compromised. A consumer alert on PlayStation.com assures account owners their credit card numbers are likely safe, but their passwords might be changed. In addition, unauthorized access may permit an intruder to use the PS Store 'Wallet' and view any stored personal information. While Sony claims that "system security is restored" and all potential victims are being directly contacted, the alert does "strongly suggest" that you sign into the PSN service and verify that you still have access to your account ... You still do, don't you? Muwhahaha!

HAY GUYZ, we've got this terrific image of a cat resting his tired head on a Wii Fit board, but our LOL caption has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to come up with a replacement caption? The commenter with the funniest bit of accompanying text will win ... nothing. You might earn the admiration of Kamezo here, maybe. You can't really guarantee anything when it comes to cats.

  • Street Fighter Online ... with mouse controls

Japanese publisher Daletto, owned by Capcom and Games Arena, have announced (via IGN) Street Fighter Online: Mouse Generation. The PC title will have you control your characters completely via the mouse: sliding left and right moves the character, slide up jumps and left- and right-clicks give different attacks. Special moves, as you may guess, come via making combinations of slides and clicks. There will be community features based around fighting online. What also makes the game unique and bizarre (aside from the random cat in the above picture - perhaps it's omnipotent) is the ability to interchange body parts on your character. The game is reportedly about fighting Revoltech toys, which is a line of actual toys planned to be sold alongside the game. As IGN predicts, you could have the head and torso of Chun-Li, the arms of Zangief and the legs of Ryu (the gender identity issues are plentiful). The game is expected to go into beta February or March, with full service coming in April. No word on a version for non-Japanese gamers.

What's this? Is Joystiq succumbing to a years-old internet meme as a way of adding a theme to its webcomic wrapup? Well, yes, and we would've used one of our own images had our kitteh not threatened to strangle us with the Wii remote / nunchuk combination (he's been on a Manhunt 2 binge). More importantly, here are our picks for the week's best game-related webcomic. Be sure to vote for your favorite! Gaming green Love, cubed Rockband The devil went down ... By now, you may have seen the, uh, interesting Geometry Wars Galaxies ads that feature ... well, we don't really want to call them lolcats, because they don't really make us laugh. And isn't that the point? Anyone can take a picture of a cat and slap a caption on it. That isn't the source of the funny. The cats need to be doing something -- see exhibits A and B -- to bring the funny. At least, that's our opinion. You can see our take on bland, humorless lolcats above (with special thanks to Y.T. for mostly cooperating). But hey, maybe you like what they're doing. Let's hear what you have to say!

We're so nice, we're even making a few ourselves to help get you inspired! Check after the break for a much better effort, courtesy of JC. C'mon, you can do better than this ... so get to work and pick up that free browser, because free stuff is good.

  • DS Fanswag: Win your own Nintendo DS Browser

Move over, Caturday -- it's time for DS macros to take the stage. It's no secret that we're somewhat fond of those memes from the internets around here. Some may even say we're too fond, but really, is that even possible? Can there be a meme overload? Let's test it and find out. We've got a shiny new copy of the Nintendo DS Browser (Lite or Phat -- your choice!) up for grabs for the best DS macro. That's right, folks: we want to see DS macros. Cat macros are so yesterday. The DS is the new cat.The best DS macro (as judged by the DS Fanboy staff) will win its creator this spankin' new browser, and we'll send out a couple of those Jimi game shells to the runner-up. And yes, fan folks -- if you can manage to incorporate both the DS and a cat or two, it might just earn you bonus points. All you have to do is make a lolDS pic (we expect to see a lot of weeping hinge cracks) and e-mail it as an attachment (along with your responses to this form, which allows us to post the winners) to dsfanboy.contests [at] gmail.com with "lolDS contest" in the subject line. You can enter as many times as you'd like, but please, for our sanity and yours, send only one DS macro per e-mail. Get cracking, because this contest is only open through Friday, August 24; anything received after the clock ticks over onto Saturday on the east cost will be discarded. We'll announce the winners on Monday, August 27, and also show off the best DS macros, as created by you.Don't forget to check out the official rules, as there are some very particular guidelines that must be followed if you want your entries considered. Specifically, if you are under eighteen, you must supply not only your e-mail address, but a valid e-mail address for your parents as well, so that we may notify them that you are entering this contest. Parents who do not wish their minor children to participate may have those entries removed by e-mailing us at remove.requests [at] dsfanboy.com. And once again, to the disappointment of our international readers, this contest is open only to residents of the U.S. Though we've already listed the form above, if you wish to enter, you must agree to and include this information, which means you agree to the terms and conditions of our contest as laid out in the official rules. Get reading, get clicking, and start making some pictures!
