Tired of cold lunches, or queueing for the one microwave in your office kitchen? It might be time for a self-heating lunchbox. Many companies have tried to deliver this Tupperware holy grail, however they're often poorly designed and strip your food of moisture. The Heatbox, meanwhile, uses steam to warm everything up and maintain important nutrients.

Today's technology can do fitness tracking without much manual input, but that's not the case with food tracking. There's simply no "smart fork" just yet that can measure your nutritional intake, and the best solutions right now require you to follow a food plan or log the information yourself, neither of which is ideal without some way of properly quantifying the food you're eating. With that in mind, a startup has come up with the Prepd Pack, which is a good-looking modular lunch box that comes with professional recipes tied to iOS' HealthKit. In other words, simply fill up the box with one of these recipes and your iPhone will know how much nutrition you're gobbling up; and if you like, you'll also get the added convenience of preparing lunches for multiple days in one go.

Ever wanted to tell your loved ones how grateful (or ungrateful) you are for your packed lunch, but not keen on having an awkward face-to-face dialog about it? Well, now you can! A research group at Ochanomizu University, Japan hacked up a nerdy lunch box -- consisting of a Creative webcam and a Viliv S5 MID -- just for this purpose. The idea is that when opened, the webcam will start recording the box being prepared at home; and when it's opened again at work, it automatically starts playing back the preparation footage while simultaneously recording the diner munching away. Obviously, you can throw in the occasional "oishii" and "arigatō" while you're at it. Sounds like the perfect gift for newlyweds, if you ask us. Video after the break.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii couldn't possibly do anything more to remind us of the delight Mario games brought us in our youths, short of including a Mario lunchbox. Amazon is helping to ensure the full nostalgia experience by doing just that in a special bundle! For $70, you get the game, a plastic lunchbox, a t-shirt (size L), and four Wiimote stickers. The t-shirt sizing suggests that this really is a nostalgia-focused gift set and not for people who are currently children. This, of course, means that these lunchboxes are destined for shelves and not cafeterias. [Via GoNintendo]

Hungry for a hot lunch at your desk every Monday through Friday, but don't want to stand in line for the microwave? The USB-powered heated lunch bag is probably something you'll want to look into, then. It apparently keeps your food at a steamy 140 degrees Farenheit all day, though it gives us pause that we're warned to "make sure the plastic container that you store your food in is of a certain grade and quality" to ensure that there's not "an adverse chemical reaction," but we figure that's probably a minor concern. We don't know if the bag will ever be available in the US, but we have a feeling that if it is, it'll be at least double the size of the current iteration.[Via Everything USB]
