Check out this great shot posted by Flickr user wackymac. Apparently it depicts a Mac assembly line from 1984. He writes:"This is a photo of the original Macintosh factory in Fremont, California. It was the first of its kind for the computer industry, featuring advanced automated technology with a Just-In-Time manufacturing system. It was Steve Jobs' decision to make this kind of factory for the first Macs. This factory was able to produce a 128k Macintosh every 27 seconds."You know, the current machines are beautiful, but there's just something about the compact Macs that I'll always love.

Apple Matters reminds us that today in 1984 Steve Jobs showed us why 1984 wouldn't be like 1984. That's right friends and neighbors, today the Macintosh were introduced to large theater of people in a rather dramatic fashion (some things don't change).Low End Mac, the place to find information about older Macs, lists the original Macintosh's stats so you don't have to. $2495 got you System 1.0 running on a blazing 8 MHz CPU.The computer that got us to where we are today, I say you hoist a beverage of your choice and toast the Macintosh. Thanks, Patch.Update: I got my Mac release dates all wrong (well I got one of the two right). The Lisa was released January of 1983, not 1984 as I mistakenly said. I'm right that it was ill fated though, of that I am certain. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out.

After reading here about TwonkyVision's MediaServer software to stream photos and music to the Mac, the mini Blog decided to write up a How-To on getting the not very straightforward software to play nice with the 360. It's a great step by step, complete with pictures; the only major downside is that the software ain't free, but with a little Automator script you can set it to restart every thirty minutes. Any other enterprising fanboys care to take on the task of writing up a script for the rest of us?

It won't stream video, but TwonkyVision's UPnP MediaServer software will stream music and photos to the Xbox 360 from a variety of platforms, including Linux and Mac OS X. This is great news for users of alternative computing platforms who have thus far been unable to duplicate the functionality of even an iPod or PSP on their 360. TwonkyVision lists the 360 under supported "Media Players" writing "Microsoft only allows to stream music and pictures. Microsoft neither allows video streaming from Windows Media Connect Servers nor from 3rd party UPnP servers." So there you have it. Anyone have any luck with this software and their 360?[Thanks, Clint Thompson]
