With the announcement of extended downtime for tomorrow already out, the buzz has begun in earnest. We know that The Shattering, the patch that will change Azeroth forever, is coming either this week or the next, and an extended downtime would be the perfect time to patch it in. The Shattering patch will include all the old-world changes coming with Cataclysm, including changes to the Loremaster and Explorer achievements to match, the removal of Zul'Gurub, a reduction in the amount of experience required to level from 70 to 80, and the addition of all of the new race/class combinations. Worgen and goblins will still have to wait for Cataclysm itself, of course. If you don't plan to do any raiding or dailies in Northrend in the next couple weeks on any of your characters, you may also want to move your character to Stormwind or Orgrimmar before the servers go down, as rumor has it that the portals in Dalaran are going away with this patch. If all this change is getting you confused and dismayed, never fear! We here at WoW Insider will be with you every step of the way. Just stay with us for all the latest news and handy guides you need to survive in the brave new world of Cataclysm. It's true, try it for yourself. When trying to log into the PlayStation Network we are met with a wee bubble stating that its use has been suspended. We've had our *ahem* European and Japanese friends try logging in too and they have the same message. Clearly Sony is wheeling out an update of some kind, though we wouldn't dare to speculate what it could be.Ha, as if. Things we would like to see include: PSN Store redesign Home beta LittleBigPlanet beta mass roll-out of trailers, demos and other videos a sign up form for a lifetime supply of cheese and biscuits We're not holding our breath for any of that. It could just be backend maintainance that we won't even notice once the network comes back up. Interesting that it affects all countries though, don't you think?[UPDATE] The network itself is now back up. The store, however, is still down. Instead we see a very interesting screen stating that it's undergoing maintainance. Interestingly, the style is very different to any part of the PSN we've seen before. Could this be the PSN Store redesign we were after? We'll keep you informed.[UPDATE] Image replaced to show new screen.[UPDATE] Store is back up and looking ... the same. For all territories. Still, we don't think this was a coincidence. We suppose Sony are doing some backend updates in preparation for whatever they have planned for this week. We'll see what happens.[Thanks Kyle]
