Atari and Silver Birch have announced a new PSP puzzler today. An extension of a popular Flash game, N+ has players in a 2D world, controlling a ninja that must avoid "well-meaning, yet homicidal robots." N+ will feature over 500 levels, and 50 user-created levels from prominent fans of the original. For a taste of things to come, check out the original PC demo here. It's simple and fun -- ideal attributes for a handheld game, no?[Thanks, KanataThunder!]

Metanet Software has announced that they are bringing their PC title, N, to Xbox Live Arcade. Often compared to Lode Runner, N is an action platformer that requires some pretty hefty jumping skills and evasive tactics. Graphics are about as simple as they get, but the game is definitely fun. Feel free to download it yourself and give it a try. The developers promise that the game will remain true to its roots (which shouldn't be too difficult). A level editor will be included with the title that allows players to trade levels over Xbox Live. Multiplayer modes are currently being considered as well. We've wasted a few hours playing N in the past, and the game could definitely benefit from a 360 controller. Don't get your hopes up, though, the game isn't expected until fall 2007.[Via Joystiq]

Fresh off their Audience Choice Award victory at the Slamdance games festival, Metanet Software (in co-operation with Kiel Entertainment) quietly announced today that their freebie web game, N, will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade this fall under the slightly different moniker, N+.The original sensation (available now for download) is a physics driven, Lode Runner inspired action title that has a tiny stick-man busting his butt to collect some gems. With N+, Metanet Software intends to stick "as close to the original as possible, in terms of gameplay, graphics and fun." It doesn't hurt that they plan to include a level editor with the ability to trade creations online. The possibility of a multiplayer mode is also on the table, so let's all cross our fingers.[Update : Our brains have yet to make the switch over to 2007. Even our checkbook's a total mess.]

  • HDTV invades Poland...again

It brings a smile to our face when a new city gets HDTV, but when a whole country launches another HDTV service, it warms our hearts in a special way. Poland's private broadcaster, ITI Group, is going to launch another way for its native people to receive glorious HDTV. The service creatively called "N" (most of lost something in the translation) is going to offer subscribers a wide range of programming that must be lacking in Polish HDTV offerings. There are some analysts that are wondering if the country needs another HDTV provider but we say, the more the merrier.

  • Sony unveils new Vaio N series of fashion laptops

With a variety of coloring known as "Wenge brown -- a creamy, coffee-color made to resemble wood furniture," and claims that "these new notebooks are designed to accent your interior design, as well as your life," you know it's going to be good. Sony is aiming their new Vaio N Series line of mid-tier laptops at the fashionista set, and while they aren't incredibly forthcoming on specs, we're sure these laptops will look good doing whatever they've got the juice to do. Starting at $1,000, the N Series models feature 15.4-inch displays, Core Duo processors (in the top-end at least) and a dual-layer DVD burner, along with the usual Sony frills like a Memory Stick reader, i.LINK port and ExpressCard slot. There's also 802.11a/b/g WiFi, and while we're not so sure about graphics options, Sony does claim that select models are Vista Premium ready, so we've got that going for us. The N Series ships next month, and Sony should be taking pre-orders starting today.

  • Wiimote, sensor bar, and Spore info oh my!

Supposedly, this N Gamer magazine had much more info than we previously reported on. A large supply of information from the magazine apart from what we've reported has apparently been confirmed to be true over at Go Nintendo. This information deals with the Wiimote, sensor bar, and Will Wright's Spore respectively. The Wiimote is to take 2 AA batteries and turn them into 60 hours of gameplay. Should the player be using the sensor bar, however, then the time is cut in half to 30 hours. Either way, that's incredible. Also, the 6kb of internal memory confirmed to be included in the Wiimote is going to be used to "personalize your remote," which we assume is code for "store profile settings." As for the sensor bar, the magazine states that the previous version that was seen at E3 has been made smaller. The magazine compares the size to that of a "couple of pencils glued together." The magazine also confirms that Will Wright's foray into playing God through his game Spore is going to be possible on the Wii. Apparently, the Wii version will interact with the DS version by allowing the player to transmit data from one to the other seamlessly. This will allow players to "deform species on the fly." They also speak some on the use of SD cards, reiterating that they will be used to house Virtual Console titles. The problem is that you may not play them on another Wii. They refer to this as "Digital Rights Management."

  • Project Manager chats up Dead & Furious

Turns out we weren't the only ones who thought the recent Dead & Furious trailer (recently removed) resembled a disgusting mess of road kill littering the highway, undoubtedly the loser in a deadly game of Racoon Vs. Car. Oh, you never heard of that game? Well, I assure you it exists...and is quite popular...somewhere.In light of the huge cringe that went out over the internet in response to the leaked trailer, DS-x2's Jacob decided he'd get his interview on with the game's Project Manager over at Dream-On Studios Benjamin Yoris. Benjamin was quick to defend the title, stating that the leaked trailer in no way reflects what the final quality of the game will be. Benjamin also managed to get our attention when he commented on the game's multiplayer."If you're familiar with gun powered arcade games then you'll have a pretty good idea of what you will find in Dead'n'Furious cooperative mode. Each player on his/her console can shot enemies on their own Touch Screen, while seeing the same scene. We added just one difference : there is a unique health jauge for the 2 players to reinforce the cooperative feeling. In Dead'n'Furious you live and die together!"Now that's a cool feature. Hopefully, the next time we see the game in action it won't be so disappointing.[Note: We're assuming that "jauge" should be "gauge."]
