Have you heard of the Newbie Blogger Initiative? It's only the latest and greatest craze to hit the MMO circuit. Basically, several experienced MMO bloggers decided to band together to encourage and support players in trying their hand at starting up a new blog. During the month of October, the NBI will be raging across blogs, on its website, and especially on its forums. Veteran MMO bloggers have gathered to offer advice through posts, mentoring, Q&A sessions, and promoting start-up blogs. Yours truly will be a part of this, as will Storybricks' Brian Green. If you've thought about starting up an MMO blog, then this is the perfect month to do so. Sign in, peruse the forums, get posting, and enjoy the resources that the blogging community is setting up to give you the best possible beginning! The NBI should interest all MMO players, as it's a great central location to find interesting and entertaining blogs both new and old.

No, our old friend CrazyKinux isn't looking for new people to join his corporation. Currently, he's in the middle of overhauling the EVE Blog Pack rolls and is looking for some fresh new EVE Online bloggers to join in. While the blog pack has become a serious force in terms of independent EVE Online community voices, some have fallen silent while others have entered the space. To keep the quality up, he's decided to overhaul the pack to make sure there's lots of top-notch content. If you think you've got what it takes to hang with the Blog Pack, then head on over to CrazyKinux's Musing and drop in a comment with your URL and a note on why you think your site should be allowed to join. CK will look through all entries received by September 1st and make a decision. Also - if you're a pilot who just likes lots of new blogs to read, you should pop by and check out all the great sites already linked in the comments. We think CK's got his work cut out for him with all the great EVE content we've seen out there!

Last week, Mike and Dave enjoyed an interview with AJ from Marketcircle and covered all the news that was fit to yammer about. You can download the show from Talkshoe or subscribe in iTunes. Later tonight at 10 pm ET it's time for us to be back live with this week's show. We'll be talking about Mac botnets, one beeeliyon apps from the iTunes App Store, Apple's quarterly results, and plenty more. We're also hoping to introduce you to our two newest colleagues, Kelly G. and Brett K. To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only interface, or you can stick with the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in so we can hear your dulcet tones. For the web UI, just click the "TalkShoe Web" button on our profile page at 10 pm Sunday. To call in on regular phone or VOIP lines (take advantange of your free cellphone weekend minutes if you like): dial (724) 444-7444 and enter our talkcast ID, 45077 -- during the call, you can request to talk by keying in *-8. SIP or Gizmo users can connect directly to Talkshoe by following the instructions here. Talk with you then! Recording support for the talkcast is provided by Call Recorder from ecamm networks.

Let me just say it: we're looking for a few good geeks. Do you have a love for all things Apple, tempered with a healthy dose of skepticism for the power of the RDF? Are you eager to share your favorite tips and tricks with Mac users everywhere? Is your iPhone development mojo so strong that it deserves an iSoapbox? Are you, in short, TUAW material? If you think you're what we're looking for, why not apply to blog for TUAW? Write about what you love and get paid to do it... seems like a good idea. Here's what we need from you: A brief biography. Tell us about your history with Apple, how long you've been a Mac user, etc. 3 sample posts written in TUAW's style. One should be a review of something (Mac app or accessory, iPod gear, iPhone app, you get the picture), the second should be an opinion piece, and the third can be whatever strikes your fancy. NOTE: please do not give us links to previously published material in lieu of post samples. We're glad to know about other places your work has appeared, but we need three freshly written and unedited posts. Your current Mac and iPhone/iPod setup. Your contact info (email, phone, IM, anywhere else we can find you) Send this package of "how I am so awesome" to us at apps@tuaw.com as a plain text email; no attachments, please. You have to be at least 18 years old to write for TUAW (sorry, not our choice), but we welcome applicants from all parts of the world -- in fact, we would love to bring some contributors into the fold who are in timezones far away from EST. If you've got specialized Mac interests (scientific computing, video/audio, education), that's fantastic, but generalists welcome too. Our deadline for this round of applications is Friday, November 7 -- so get down to it!

Hi, TUAW readers! My name is Josh Ellis, and I'm the latest addition to the TUAW team.I'm a blogger, web designer/developer, electronic musician, former newspaper columnist, and occasional DJ -- your usual post-millennial hipster nerd scum, basically. I currently reside in Las Vegas, NV, USA, and I spend a lot less time in casinos than you might expect. If I were on Jeopardy, my categories would be: Using Logic Pro To Bring The Noise The History Of The Early Roman Empire Alternative Rock 1967-1993 Damn You, ActionScript 3.0 DC Vertigo Comic Books Digital Music Distribution and my Daily Double would probably involve Tom Waits, Brian Eno or Asia Argento. So hello, and be kind, folks -- though I've been a blogger since the early Neolithic period, I'm new to this whole professional / group blogging thing.I plan to drop some (hopefully) useful info on TUAW about guerilla Mac music production in the very near future, so keep an eye out for that. And thanks to the TUAW team for having me!
