Sid Meier is attending New York Comic Con '08 this weekend promoting his upcoming Civilization Revolution game. He'll be at the 2K Games Booth (#1157) on Saturday, April 19, from 1-3PM. He'll be making chit-chat with fans and "providing autographs." There's +2 internets in it for the guy who gets Meier to sign his man-boob. Attendees will also get a chance to try out demos of the console-only Civilization Revolution, which should be very close to done now. Revolution is expected to release on Xbox 360, PS3 and DS on June 3. The Wii version is still hidden by the fog-of-war.

Gaia Online, the virtual community that boasts over 5 million players, will be present at this year's New York Comic-Con, from April 18th to the 20th. They're encouraging both existing members and people who've never played before to drop by their booth and take a chance at winning a golden ticket, good for early entrance to the beta test of their upcoming casual MMO, as yet unnamed. They're also offering other prizes, such as an in-game Angelic Halo, Gold cards (worth varying amounts of Gaia currency), and a limited-edition ring for use in the MMO to attendees of the Gaia Panel at 5:00PM on Saturday, April 19th. Full information at their site.If they manage to convert their existing playerbase to their MMO, they could be seen as a serious contender for size, right out of the gate. We'll keep our eyes open and our ears to the ground for more info on this as it gets released.[Source]

New York Comic Con had a great deal of games based on anime franchises. But, they were all on the DS. The one game that I had to play was the upcoming PSP Dragon Ball Z game. I got a chance to talk to some representatives from Atari and I had a blast. As you can see in the embedded video above, the graphics are quite smooth, and the presentation is quite sleek. The "Another Road" mode offers an original story for DBZ fans to appreciate. Load times? Minimal. The controls were incredibly accessible, creating for fast, fun battles. The game looks to be quite ideal for on-the-go play. I wonder if it'll feature enough depth to satisfy hardcore gamers. Also, with my relative lack of inexperience with DBZ games, I have to admit, I'm not exactly sure how much Another Road expands upon the franchise. Can it feel fresh, considering how it's Atari's 26th DBZ game? We'll find more closer to its March 20th release.

Are you going to New York Comic Con? It's happening today, tomorrow and Sunday at the Jacob Javitz Center. While it's unlikely you'll be able to get in without tickets already, those of you lucky to be available for the convention should remember to bring your PSPs. The first 50 consumers to bring their PSP system by the PlayStation booth #411 each day will receive a UMD carrying case (pictured). Not only that, you may see me roaming the show floor, wearing the iconic orange Joystiq shirt. If you can find me and show me your PSP, you may win something from my patented Bag of Swag???.Hope to see you there!
