A photo says a thousand words, right? We think this Noby Noby Boy sneaker (sent to Kotaku) speaks for itself, turning the now-iconic BOY into a very lengthy shoelace. The concept is easy to understand, and the execution is simple and stylish. It's a reader creation, though, so don't expect to see this at a store near you.

  • World of Warcraft partners with Hungry Man

Blizzard's merchandising hasn't stopped with Mountain Dew, no sir. This past week the WoW Insider staff received a lovely surprise in the form of a package from Swanson. Many of the producers of Blizzard-licensed products (such as UpperDeck) tend to send us advance, review copies of new products. Swanson followed suit and has sent us a variety of the new Hungry Man dinners that will be hitting stores this summer.Hungry Man Gamer Grub (which we've dubbed 'Hungry Gamer') is a line of World of Warcraft themed frozen dinners. It seems this is yet another company jumping on the bandwagon of catering to the gaming demographic, but it would be unfair of us to write this product off from the start. To be completely fair to them, neither the box art nor the documentation that came with our package made any cracks about gamers as these things usually do. Essentially, it just seems like Hungry Man is trying something new. Gaming is 'in' now, you know! After the WoW line, I'd bet we'll see Halo Hungry Man or Noby Noby Boy Hungry Man. Well, maybe not that second one.Anyway, we were given one or two of each of the upcoming dinners to taste test. We took volunteers from the staff to try them out, and in the following pages you'll find our thoughts and reviews. Some were a hit, but others? Not so much. Click through the button below to find our reviews, and if you want to see a larger picture of the box art for each of the meals, simply click on the picture and it will take you to our gallery. • Overheard@GDC09: Design is Takahashi's anti-drug

Although it's hard to believe that the ideas for Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy weren't birthed from some serious drug use, Keita Takahashi stated at GDC that he's completely straight-edge when it comes to partaking in the chemical vices of man. In the same session where he revealed Noby Noby Boy for iPhone, he also claimed, "I don't use drugs at all, I don't drink at all. Please don't worry about me."Hmmmmmmm .... okay.

Speaking at GDC, Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi revealed that the PSN title Noby Noby Boy was developed on the Xbox 360. As to why it was then released exclusively on the PSN, Takahashi said that he dislikes seeing so many people staring down at handheld games on the subway. He joked, "Maybe it's not such a good thing if a game sells a lot of copies. So we put it on the PS3 as a download only title so it wouldn't sell as many." On a more serious note, Takahashi said that he likes that the analogue sticks on the PS3 controller are aligned horizontally, as opposed to the asymmetrical setup on the Xbox 360 controller. Feel free to consult his diagram above if you're confused.Don't get your hopes up just yet, 360 owners, Takahashi didn't drop any hints that Noby Noby Boy would be twisting its way to 360. In fact, he pretty much crushed any hopes it might, saying, "Well, this game is not being sold well, so I can't support Xbox at all."

During Keita Takahashi's adorably quirky GDC panel, the Katamari Damacy creator revealed an upcoming iPhone version of the currently PSN-only Noby Noby Boy. It's good news for Noby fans, even those without iPhones: the iPhone game will interface with the PlayStation 3 version to help contribute to the ongoing growth of Girl into the entirety of the solar system -- a task that, according to Takahashi, would take 820 years at the current rate.As for price and release date: "In terms of iPhone, we just started doing this a week ago. Price-wise might be like free."

A future update to Noby Noby Boy will add 4-player multiplayer (in addition to some other stuff). The PlayStation.Blog recently uploaded this short, but disturbing video, of multiple BOYS coming out of the colorful house. Something about the sound BOY makes when jumping outside coupled with its squirmy nature and quizzical smile creeps us out. A lot.

  • Noby Noby Boy might get offline multiplayer

Noby Noby Boy primarily functions as a strange single-player online PSN title; however, that might change soon. The game's official website suggests that an update bringing an offline 4-way multiplayer mode is on its way, as well as some new music ... featuring maracas. This could be that "big update" that was promised previously. Hopefully, offline play won't be too distracting, as we've still got a long way to go before unlocking Mars.[Via Eurogamer]

Your guess is as good as ours as to how today's major PSN release, Noby Noby Boy plays. Heck, even it's creator -- Katamari Damacy's Keita Takahashi -- doesn't know why he made it. But, given its pedigree and $4.99 pricetag, we're going for it. Will you join us? (The more the merrier, as new stages are unlocked via cumulative global play -- crazy!).Today's update also brings PopCap's Zuma to PS3 (it's no Peggle, but what is ... except, well, Peggle), along with the much-anticipated Burnout Paradise Legendary Cars Collection, WipEout trimmings (plus costumes) for LittleBigPlanet and a playable demo of Loco Roco 2 for PSP, among various other offerings. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

The oh-so-curious Noby Noby Boy releases this week on the PlayStation Store. For $5, even those that are hesitant may want to pick up this rather unique (and experimental) game from the creator of Katamari Damacy. Should the quirky game find an audience, Namco Bandai will allow Keita Takahashi to continue developing the world he's created. "I want many people to play the game. Please allow me to keep updating the game!"The first planned DLC should arrive approximately two months after the game's release. What it will entail, we're not exactly sure. While third-party PSN releases can still be a bit tardy, Noby Noby Boy will be the second first-party game in as many weeks to arrive day and date with the American release. The bizarrely adorable experiment will be available in the UK this Thursday for £3.19, making it an easy impulse buy for those who don't know much about it. In other words, all of us.

Keita Takahashi, the crazy mind behind Katamari Damacy, is bringing his next creation to the PlayStation Store next Thursday. Noby Noby Boy is a downloadable, er, game that ... well. How about you watch the video and YOU tell us what it's about? The confusion that surrounds Noby Noby Boy is part of its charm. In fact, it's so bizarre that even the creator doesn't know why he made it. He states that some people may not even consider it to be a game at all: "By making an undefined and ambitious game, I want the player's reaction to be something like, 'I don't know why, but it's somehow interesting. I can't stop playing.' In that way, I would feel I have succeeded at creating what I wanted, that is, creating something that's not easily describable."Considering it's only $5, we're willing to take part in Takahashi's obviously-insane experiment.%Gallery-34693%

  • Noby Noby Boy snakes onto PSN Feb. 19 at $5

PSN exclusive Noby Noby Boy is ready to wrap itself around your wallet and suck out $5 on February 19. Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi helmed this title -- and even after watching videos, we still have nary a clue about what's going on in it.Even stranger than the gameplay of Noby Noby Boy is the meta-game going on among all the players. Namco Bandai explains that "players collaborate to unlock new game stages." As players stretch "Boy" in their individual games, an entity known as "Girl" is growing according to the combined length of all the players in the world. As Girl reaches certain milestones, those stages will be unlocked for everyone around the world. It's not clear if that means they'll be available as part of the game or as DLC. Before delving into some of February's bigger, disc-based games like Killzone 2 and Street Fighter IV, Namco Bandai invites you into the zany world of Noby Noby Boy. It's the game where -- seemingly -- your imagination and insatiable hunger for eating things can take you to the moon -- literally. It will also allow you to record whatever strangeness you can procure which can then later be posted and viewed on YouTube. Gamers in Europe can expect this spiritual successor to the Katamari series to hit the PS Store on February 19. It'll go on sale for a measly €3.99. While pricing for the UK was not mentioned in the latest press release, a quick look at previous pricing on PSN suggests to look forward to putting away £2.49. With recent news of a delay in Japan to coincide with the Feb. 19 release, we're thinking that North Americans should expect to see the game appear on that day too. Update: We were right. Namco Bandai has announced a US release of Noby Noby Boy for Feb. 19th. It will be available for $4.99.%Gallery-34693%

We're very happy for all those who understand what's going on in the three Noby Noby Boy gameplay videos we've placed after the break. We'll just smile and nod politely as you write in the comments about the innovative mechanics and explain how the game is a satire of 17th century French society. In fairness, Keita Takahashi took a simple idea and made it work before with Katamari Damacy, so we'll just have to wait for more videos to make sense of what we're looking at. You may have been left fascinated yet confused after reading the information blowout regarding Noby Noby Boy the other day. Sometimes it's just easier to show than tell, and this game's a pretty good example of that. Come see BOY stretch and eat everything he comes across in the latest trailer (after the break) from GameVideos. Noby Noby Boy looks quite fun, but is it as fun and innovative as Katamari Damacy was back in the day? We'll find out soon enough as the game releases next month in Japan with a worldwide release to follow closely.[via Kotaku]

Namco Bandai has sent us a delightfully colorful press release, announcing its intentions to release Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi's latest game, Noby Noby Boy, on the PlayStation Network sometime in "early 2009." As an eager and gluttonous worm ... thing, it's your objective in Noby Noby Boy to devour objects throughout the world and stretch your body to unprecedented lengths. It seems your growing gut can interact with other objects, so you'd best beware of becoming entangled in someone's house. Oh, the embarrassment!Though no exact price nor launch date has been given for the US, Japan is set to receive the stretchy smiler on January 29th for ¥800 ($8.78). Gallery: Noby Noby Boy
