Before you and the many thousands of other yous gets a chance to go hands-on with Killzone 3 this weekend at PAX Prime, Famitsu has a smattering of new images to hungrily dig through for new information. One thing solidly confirmed by these shots? Dusters. Hooded dusters, no less! And hey, if you ask us, there's a severe underuse of dusters in the world of video games. Unfortunately for the gentleman above, he seems to have been socked in the face several moments before the image was taken, so his duster is fluttering through the air along with his torso. Hopefully you'll fare better this weekend at PAX!

Infamous 2 is set to electrify (hopefully, not literally) the PAX crowd with seven demo kiosks on the show floor this weekend. The demos feature Cole's new glorified cattle prod weapon and will be set up at booth #122, where developer Sucker Punch will be giving away a "limited number" of t-shirts (pictured). The crew from Sucker Punch will also be holding the "Creating Super Powers" panel in the Seattle Sheraton's Pegasus Theater at 6:30PM PT on Saturday. They'll show off the new Kinetic Pulse power and an enemy known as the "Ravager." It's sure to be electric ... boogie woogie woogie.

Killzone 3's multiplayer is set for its first public hands-on engagement this week at PAX. There will be 16 multiplayer stations set up at the show for players to compete in 8v8 matches. Sony will also have four pods set up for single-player, with an additional three featuring the game in 3D -- there's nothing quite like a reload animation in 3D. If you don't care about standing around in line to touch some plague-infested controller (Purell is your friend), the company will have limited supplies of Killzone swag bags at the booth. Also, there's mention of some "collectible art cards" at the booth that will have instructions on how to "win" a code for entry into the Killzone 3 beta.%Gallery-93774%

Capcom announced its lineup for this weekend's PAX convention, and Mega Man Universe is in it. There's plenty of other exciting stuff, like Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, Okamiden, Ghost Trick, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but we admit we only noticed those things with great difficulty, after forcing our eyes away from the words "Mega Man Universe." PAX will be our first opportunity to find out what exactly Universe is, something that has been weighing heavily on us since we saw that stop-motion trailer. Capcom promises "new, never before seen trailers and game levels." See the full list after the break, and find the list of swag you can get at Capcom's booth at Capcom-Unity -- including details on how to get your very own moustache.

PAX Prime is nearly upon us -- attendees (and Massively staffers) from all over are packing their suitcases and confirming hotel reservations, and a large part of them have Guild Wars 2 at the top of their must-see list. The newest entry on the ArenaNet blog is what those fans have been waiting for: the PAX schedule. The list shows three busy days for ANet staffers, and plenty to do for those attending. A book signing, panel, and party at the Hard Rock Cafe combine with a series of demos and prize giveaways to fill the schedule. An important note here is that both the panel and the party require passes which can be acquired at the ArenaNet booth or through quiz show giveaways. Check out the entire list and we'll see you at PAX!

Fire Hose Games' Slam Bolt Scrappers impressed us at E3 even though it was a ways off from its expected "early 2011" launch on PSN. PAX, taking place this weekend in Seattle, will be the public-at-large's next chance to see what we were talking about. The game will be playable at booth #3834, and the developers will be on hand for feedback. Slam Bolt Scrappers is an intuitive and hectic combination of Rampart and Tetris. If you're at PAX, definitely check it out. The latest trailer for the game can be found after the break. %Gallery-95679%

  • It's clobberin' time: Whomp other Super Hero Squad players at PAX

We've got two quick questions for you: Are you a Marvel fan, and are you going to PAX this weekend? If you leaped up from your chair screaming, "YES! YES! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!" then cut back on your caffeine intake and get thee to Gazillion's booth (#3433) in the exhibition hall for a special treat. Not only will the company be showing off Super Hero Squad Online, but it'll be hosting a special PvP tournament for awesome prizes. At the tournament, players will get their hands on the collectible card battle system, where they can build their own customized decks and strike out at lesser heroes who stand in their way. In SHSO, these cards can be earned through quests and mini-games, or purchased via microtransactions. Gazillion has three Alienware prize packages for the winners of the tournament, including keyboards, headsets and a monitor. This unique PvP system could be an effort to recall the joy of collecting toys and cards. Visitors to Gazillion's booth will also be able to play other aspects of the Marvel MMO, sign up for the beta, and shake hands with the developers.

  • Hyperspace Beacon: Proper PAX preparation prevents poor PAX performance

Welcome once again to your guide through everything Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is soon to be released by EA-BioWare. Larry Everett presents the Hyperspace Beacon. Deborah Shin, the Marketing Manager for Star Wars: The Old Republic told TOROcast at E3 that PAX was going to be the game's biggest event of the year. When I heard that announcement about a month and a half ago, I decided that I would have to make it to this event. Prior to that I was willing to let others do the reporting while I snagged some stories at home. I want Massively to be your source of SWTOR news, so how could I not go to the biggest SWTOR bash of the year? This week's agenda is quite simple in scope, but a bit more complicated in execution. I hope to give you a very brief overview of what we know of our favorite game going into PAX, followed by a few directions I could go with information gathering. Ultimately, I want the fan's opinion. What information do you want to see come out of this fan-tastic exposition? Follow me after the jump, where I break down the possibilities.

In the mood for explosive news about explosions? Treasure's multi-scrolling, fruit-collecting shooter series Bangai-O is heading to XBLA this fall, published by D3 Publisher and priced at 800 Microsoft Points. Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury features over 100 levels of omnidirectional blasting. Like its DS predecessor Bangai-O Spirits, it also features a level editor, though presumably the XBLA version won't require levels to be traded as sound files. The game will be on display this weekend at PAX for attendees who feel like hitting giant soccer balls into ninja robots -- with a baseball bat, in exchange for giant fruit.

Are you in the process of packing the items necessary for survival during your upcoming trip to the Penny Arcade Expo? You might want to consider adding Proxima Labs' "The Conventionist" to your list. The free iPhone app includes a full, interactive schedule for each day of the expo, a map of the convention center and the ability to browse through both while offline. Which is fortunate, since large crowds of tech-savvy people have a tendency to wreck your phone's 3G functionality. Best of all, the app can be updated to provide support for other conventions as well. We sure hope the the 2010 Des Moines Apple Butter Festival makes the cut! We always get lost between the cider mill and the ol' birch tree.

Ubisoft has announced its lineup for this week's PAX convention, including playable demos of Your Shape and MotionSports for Kinect, and public demonstrations of Child of Eden, Just Dance 2 and H.A.W.X. 2 multiplayer. The company will also have a brand new title on display: Outland for PSN and XBLA, for which attendees will be able to see "a sneak peek." It's possible this game is related to the upcoming Outland movie remake. Ubisoft hasn't given any clues other than the title, so it could be a game based on the comic strip, for all we know. We'll all find out at PAX, unless everyone is too busy pre-ordering Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (you get a free T-shirt for pre-ordering the game at PAX) or staring at Child of Eden to notice.

Today marks the beginning of a busy week for several Massively staffers, as we start packing, double-checking hotel reservations, and most importantly, making our plan of attack for PAX Prime 2010. We're looking forward to checking out Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, LotRO, and much more -- and of course we'll be bringing you all the latest news from the convention floor, but what about you guys? Are you attending PAX? What's highlighted, circled, and underlined on your itinerary? If you're not going, will your game of choice have a feed set up? Whose channel will you be tuning in to? Worried you weren't going to get Nail'd at this year's PAX Prime? Southpeak Games wants to assure you that you absolutely will -- more to the point, you can stop by the publisher's booth to get some hands-on time with upcoming MX/ATV racer Nail'd (you see what we did there?). Southpeak is also bringing Two Worlds 2, Battle Vs. Chess, and previously unheard of motorcycle racer SBK-X for attendees to check out. Also, if you're over 10 years old, you could try your hand at some Nail'd speed trials for a chance to win the 70cc Mini-Motocross Pit Bike pictured above. While it might not put you in the running for "Toughest Motocross Dude Ever," it's a totally adorable little motorcycle. Who could say no to that? A monster, that's who. And you're not a monster, right?

Visitors to Nintendo's PAX booth will be able to try out some upcoming Wii games, including Kirby's Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns, along with anticipated third-party games Goldeneye 007 and NBA Jam. Next week's Metroid: Other M will also be on display. Nintendo will also show a new WiiWare game, Fluidity, for the first time. The game involves "using the three forms of water -- liquid, ice, and cloud" to solve puzzles. Be sure to bring your DS as well, as Nintendo will be distributing a new Dragon Quest IX map, "Orgodemir." If you're anything like us (which is to say hopeless), the rest of the convention will be spent trying to complete said map. Go sit on one of those bean bags and find some pals for multiplayer questing!

As gamescom and PAX approach, a fair amount of attention is on ArenaNet -- specifically Guild Wars 2. The prospect of being able to play GW2 for the first time is an exciting one for fans. ArenaNet has released a few details of what we'll see during gameplay over the past week, including the information that we'll be playing with some staff back at the ArenaNet offices. In the most recent blog post, we hear directly from four of those staffers. Bob Green, Joe Belousek, Anthony Ordon, and Joe Longworth are members of the Guild Wars 2 QA team, the group working to make sure the demo runs smoothly. Check out the latest ArenaNet blog entry to see what they're most looking forward to in the demo. While the demo is easily the main focus of ArenaNet's presence at these events, there is more to check out while you're there. The event schedule for PAX Prime was finally released yesterday, and it includes a Saturday morning presentation entitled "Guild Wars 2: Designing Dynamic Events." Eric Flannum and Colin Johanson will give insight into how the dynamic event system in GW2 was created -- it's a talk that fans won't want to miss. It's a ticketed event, so be sure to check the schedule for details on how to attend.

Back in June, the list of exhibitors and performers was revealed for PAX Prime, and now the official site just posted the full schedule for this year's show. PAX 2010 is looking especially busy, consisting of the usual Penny Arcade Q&A panels, but also an interesting Kinect justification panel, a look at Insomniac's next PS3 game and the future of PC gaming. Seriously, check out this link -- there's so much, we're getting tired just looking at it!

  • Rumor: Duke Nukem Forever being completed by Gearbox

    by

    08.11.2010

According to unnamed sources speaking with Kotaku and "claiming to have knowledge of the situation," development on Duke Nukem Forever is continuing -- until completion -- with Borderlands developer Gearbox Software. Stranger still, the sources also claim that a "playable demo" will be distributed at some point "later this year." While Take-Two confirmed that it retains the rights to DNF, it didn't offer any comment on the matter. Gearbox head Randy Pitchford couldn't say anything either, but did note that he might be able to "better clarify the situation" at this year's PAX Prime. Duke Nukem creator George Broussard declined to comment as well. Although this is most certainly a "rumor" for now, we'd still like to wish Gearbox the best of luck over the next 15 years.

  • Paragon Studios is sending City of Heroes fans to PAX Prime

Remember how it was mentioned that if you weren't already going to PAX Prime, you likely wouldn't be able to, which would mean missing out on meeting the team behind City of Heroes? Apparently, Paragon Studios had the same thought process, which is why they're giving fans a chance to get a free three-day pass to the convention. They're not including airfare or lodging, but considering how quickly the actual passes were sold out, the former is at least only a hurdle of money rather than availability. The contest, running until August 16th, asks for fans to write a haiku expressing their excitement for next week's launch of Going Rogue. Three winners will be chosen on the basis of originality and cleverness, and each will win a pass to all three days of the convention. That means not only seeing the City of Heroes team, but a pass to all of the other entertainment to be had over the weekend. So if you think you can express your enthusiasm in no more than seventeen syllables, take a look at the full rules for entry and start writing.
