Pharrell Williams has announced that his upcoming song Freedom will be exclusive to Apple Music, the first of no doubt many such announcements to come. The news isn't a huge surprise, considering that the track was featured at Apple's WWDC 2015 developers conference during the Apple Music launch. It's still a coup for Cupertino, however, considering Pharrell's "Happy" was the number one US single last year. Williams made the reveal via a short video teaser on his Facebook page, which noted that the song would arrive "only on Apple Music" on the service's June 30th launch date.

2K Games has preemptively boosted the pop cultural cred of NBA 2K15 by hiring musician, producer and creator of this omnipresent earworm Pharrell Williams to oversee the basketball sim's music selection. "I tried to curate songs that were diverse but yet still proved to be motivational to gamers," said Williams in a 2K press release. "It was important to me that the music complemented the on-court action of NBA basketball in NBA 2K15." "Pharrell's passion and reputation as a visionary producer and expertise from working with the NBA will be evident in the largest and most eclectic NBA 2K soundtrack ever," said NBA 2K vice president of marketing Alfie Brody. "We really listened to our fans' feedback on how we could improve their experience from a music standpoint, and we're confident Pharrell's collaboration in NBA 2K15 will impress players as much as it's impressed us." Unfortunately lacking from the announcement is any word on what songs Williams chose, though if it mirrors his extensive music industry resumé, we should see a wide selection of pop, hip hop, techno and even the blurry catch-all known as alternative rock. 2K claims the soundtrack will be unveiled "later this summer."
