Developer Psyonix's Arc Squadron, a Star Fox-esque arcade combat game running on Unreal Engine, will update to Arc Squadron Redux on October 17. The $2.99 app for iOS and Android will drop its price to free dollars. "We are also proud to offer our community a new and improved version of the game with lots of playability tweaks and bug fixes to make the game generally more fun for new and existing players," said Dave Hagewood, the lead pilot at Psyonix. Psyonix previously made Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars for PSN. We know that's a random thing to bring up, but it's just so much fun to write a ridiculous title like that down.

Square Enix has pulled back the curtain on Nosgoth, a free-to-play online multiplayer action game that takes place in the same universe as Crystal Dynamics' Legacy of Kain series. In the preview trailer above, the developers at Psyonix explain how Nosgoth's human/vampire conflict gives combat a multifaceted approach, equipping players with an arsenal of varied weaponry. The human alliance focuses on ranged weapons and traps, while vampires can scale buildings and strike from rooftops, balancing out their reliance on melee attacks. Classes within each faction can be further customized with alternate weapon loadouts and abilities. Human and vampire sympathizers alike can sign up for Nosgoth's upcoming closed beta here.

Indie developer Psyonix, Inc. recently sent out a press release announcing a half-off sale for its wordy PSN title, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Until June 15, folks living in NTSC territories can purchase the game from the PlayStation Store for just $5 -- a promotion that's being offered in anticipation of the upcoming 2010 World Cup. We wonder if the World Cup will return the favor, and introduce a sudden death, vehicle-based round of soccer into its proceedings. If so, we might actually watch it.

Get ready to jump back into the world of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars. The PSN-exclusive multiplayer game combines soccer and cars ... and it's coming back with an update that adds new features and a brand new arena. Best of all, the update has a price we can all approve of: free."Galleon" is a brand new pirate-ship themed arena. Players will duke it out on the deck of a large pirate ship, with unique physics that change the gameplay experience. Hope you don't get sea sick, as undoubtedly the rocky nature of the boat will change things up.In addition to the new arena, the upcoming patch for SARPBC will add enhancements to the replay system, camera control, friends list, server browser, HUD, music and menus. There's no date pegged on the update, but Psyonix is aiming for a late June release. Stay tuned for more.%Gallery-64403%

This week the PlayStation Nation crew interviewed Psyonix Studios' Dave Hagewood. He's the Director of Development for the superbly named Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars. Torgo and Mark managed to squeeze some more tasty details out of Hagewood regarding when we'll be able to get our hands on the title and at what price. Battle Cars will be available for Americans next week, October 9th, for $14.99. Europeans can expect to play it at a later date, though nothing more specific than that was said. Battle Cars will feature trophy support, YouTube uploading, custom soundtracks, online leaderboards and online voice chat. There will also be a video editor within the game, giving you lots of advanced options to edit the footage in-game, including adding slow motion to replays. Offline, the game will support 4 players, while online will support 8. Multiple players on a single PS3 can play together in online matches, so two PS3s with 4 players on each is entirely possible. The game will launch with three maps, though more will follow. There's also the possibility that some DLC may be free, though that's unconfirmed as of yet (confirmed!). That's a lot of content for downloadable title, but with WipEout HD we've come to expect such things. Check out the gallery below for more Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars screenshots and make sure you check out the next PlayStation Nation podcast on PS3 Fanboy later today for the full interview.[UPDATE] Hagewood has confirmed that there will be free maps to download in the future. %Gallery-29286%
