Amazon's version of AirPods will reportedly offer fitness tracking
Amazon's yet-to-be announced Alexa-powered wireless earbuds could also double as a fitness tracker. CNBC reported today that the earbuds, deemed "Puget", will come with a built-in accelerometer that can track your run, the calories you've burned and your pace. We heard rumblings that Amazon is working on a competitor to Apple's Airpods earlier this year, but this is the first indication that it will also work as a health device.

For the most part, Intel's Sandy Bridge introduction at CES made a giant impact in the outlook of future laptops, but not as much was said over in the desktop world. Quietly, a slew of custom PC makers have slid out revised towers with the second generation Core lineup, with Dell's XPS 8300, Digital Storm's entire family, Cyber Power's Gamer Xtreme 1000 / 2000 and iBuyPower's Chimera XLC seeing the new Core i5 and Core i7 chips. Microsoft unveils Hohm beta for overanalyzing your home energy usage
Since Google can't be the only multibillion-dollar technology company having all the home energy monitoring fun, Microsoft's jumping in with "Hohm" -- like a portmanteau of "Home" and "Ohm," get it? We're not entirely sure just how it works yet, but according to the company, using both user input / feedback and analytics licensed from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the US Department of Energy, the program provides suggestions for energy conservation. However, it's the future uses we're more excited about -- eventually, you'll be able to upload energy usage data into the system automatically, provided you're getting voltage from one of the partner companies. First West Coast utilities to join up include Puget Sound Energy, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Seattle City Light, and Xcel Energy, and nope, none of those overlap with PowerMeter's first enlistees. Puget Custom Computer ships pricey DDR3-equipped desktop
You may recall Puget Custom Computer from its uniquely cooled machine a few months back, but now the boutique is hailing itself as the world's first company to ship DDR3-equipped desktops. 'Course, there's been a number of competitors to ship Bearlake boards in their own machines, but those with deep pockets and a lofty wish list can snag a liquid-cooled beast of a machine pre-stocked with Kingston HyperX DDR3 RAM modules and Asus' P5K3 motherboard. The machine itself can include just about any piece of hardware remotely available as of 3.49 minutes ago, but with a base price of just over $5,500, we don't envision too make takers on this one anyway.
