Rock Band Weekly: Black Tide, Paramore and Serj Tankian
Due to a hiccup in the system last week, Rock Band Weekly returns for a one week engagement on a Monday. Attempting not to enrage the rock snobs, we'll just say that this week's bands are less-well-known than many who have come before as DLC offerings. This week's batch of Rock Band DLC is a triumvirate of Trent Reznor's industrial flare. It was noted in an copy of Official Xbox Magazine from late January, although for a March 18 release. Rock Band Weekly: Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer and Garbage
We were going to start this post off with something about how half-Japanese girls do it to us every time, but considering many people never listened to Weezer's sophomore album Pinkerton, or the song El Scorcho, we were a little afraid of being called racists ('cause that's always fun). Rumorong: Rock Band goes under a bridge with Red Hot Chili Peppers DLC Feb. 18
Update: Harmonix has deemed this a hoax, nothing to see here. Website GCN apparently captured a photo of an ad on the Xbox 360 dashboard promoting a Red Hot Chili Peppers DLC pack for Rock Band coming Feb. 18. The site also allegedly received an "announcement letter" with the following info.Red Hot Chili Peppers Pack (440 MS points/ $5.50) Under the Bridge (160 MS points/ $2) Universally Speaking (160 MS points/ $2) Otherside (160 MS Points / $2) It seems the new sport for the internets is to break Rock Band DLC release info as soon as possible. Rock Band DLC for March revealed in OXM ad
According to X3F, who heard it from Megatonik, who saw it on ScoreHero, who cribbed it from scans on GameFaqs, OXM like totally printed all the Rock Band DLC for March in its new issue. We've confirmed the tracks are revealed in an advertisement for Xbox Live that was placed by Microsoft. Gasp at the ancient picture of The Smashing Pumpkins above. Go ahead, gasp already. This week the Rock Band downloadable content brings us the song Siva, which hails from way back when The Smashing Pumpkins actually looked like this. Don't you just want to pinch little Billy Corgan's cheeks? Barring any major change out of spite that the rest of January's Rock Band downloadable songs were revealed last week, we're pretty confident that the Oasis Pack will hit the consoles on their respective days. As we still get asked this question, let's review DLC availability days: Rock Band DLC is Tuesday for Xbox 360 and Thursday for PS3. Don't look back in anger at us, those are the days chosen by the overlords. Xbox.com lists Rock Band DLC through January: Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins and more

It's the last train to "Rock"sville and I'll meet you at the station. This week's Rock Band downloadable content is all about high energy songs. Although Sweet is sweet, and you should feel free to play All The Small Things while naked, the real stand-out this week is The Monkees' Last Train to Clarksville. Not only will a new generation actually learn the lyrics past the first line, but it's a really, really, fun song to play with a group of friends over. Rock Band Weekly: Iron Maiden, The Hives, Stone Temple Pilots
Don't expect a road map of Rock Band's downloadable content for the future, but you can plan on getting that second mortgage on your house because the excellent DLC just keeps flowing. This week brings us three different decades of rock and you should feel free to go with the emotion of each decade. For Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast start banging your head, then get strung out and depressed for Stone Temple Pilot's Interstate Love Song and, finally, get hipster and pour yourself an appletini with The Hives' Die, All Right! Rock Band Weekly: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes and Rush
You gotta pay for old rock! Prices go back to 160 MS points ($2) this week as the rock is aged a little more finely compared to the modern selection from last week. The exploration of the RBDLC (Rock Band downloadable content) void continues as there's still no road map of Rock Band's DLC for the future. This week's tracks give us a little '70s with Lynyrd Skynyrd (Leh-Nerd Skin-nerd) and early '80s with Rush. The most iffy selection for nit-picky music geeks is probably the Black Crowes' version of you-know-it-when-you-hear-it song Hard to Handle. Some people prefer the Grateful Dead version, and for those who like letting their soul out when they sing, there's also the Otis Redding version. We are now exploring the void and have no idea what songs will appear as part of Rock Band's downloadable content every week. This week's tracks come from an eclectic group of contemporary artists and if you don't like them, well move along, move along, like we know you do -- but perhaps the $1 price on the songs will actually get rock snobs to consider the purchase. Rock Band Weekly: You're such a punk
Take a trip back to CBGB and get your anti-authoritarian ideologies polished and scrubbed for this week's Rock Band downloadable content. Some of the masters of punk (rebels of punk?) are now available for your musical pleasure. The Ramones, The Clash and the Buzzcocks all crash the party on the the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network just like they were expected to. Only one more week before we enter the void and become pretty much unaware of what songs Harmonix will drop each week for the DLC. Although, if there's a piece of info we missed, be sure to let us know.Punk Pack - $5.50: Rockaway Beach -- The Ramones ($2) I Fought the Law -- The Clash ($2) Ever Fallen In Love -- Buzzcocks ($2 *Cover*) After the break we have videos of all the songs above for those not up on their punk. Rock Band Weekly: Enjoy the Black Sabbath
Before he became everybody's favorite patriarch, Ozzy Osbourne and the band Black Sabbath had the classic heavy metal mystique of pure evil around them. Unless you detect a similar evil emanating from downloadable songs, you'll want to check out this week's Rock Band offerings on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. We're trying a little something different this week and dropping in videos after the break, just in case you're unfamiliar with the songs:Black Sabbath Pack - $5.50: N.I.B. ($2 *Cover*) Sweet Leaf ($2 *Cover*) War Pigs ($2 *Cover*) The perfect solution would be to have a short video montage of the DLC from the game, but there's currently no preview like that available (please take note, EA/MTV/Harmonix).
Rock Band Weekly: Bowie's 'queen bitch' has 'moonage daydreams' about 'heroes'
We're a little under pressure this week as David Bowie becomes the DLC content on XBLM and PSN for Rock Band. Why under pressure? Well, we're sure that the covers for Heroes and Queen Bitch are of the highest Harmonix quality, so we're having pre-stress in case Bowie has a The Romanics nutter and sues everyone because the covers are too good! We're gonna watch that man. This week's Rock Band DLC is:Bowie Pack - $5.50: Moonage Daydream ($2) Heroes ($2 *Cover*) Queen Bitch ($2 *Cover*) We're hoping everything willl be hunky dory with Bowie about these covers, but can he justifiably complain about anything being married to a goddess like Iman?

Welcome to our first edition of Rock Band Weekly, where we'll be posting the new DLC content for Rock Band on a (gasp!) weekly basis. Although almost every song and pack has been announced up until the end of the year, who wants to do all that searching into the ancient times to find answers? A friendly reminder never hurt anyone -- plus something like this will keep Harmonix honest on their weekly DLC statements.This week is Rock Band launch week and there's a slew of new content available for DLC.
