As you might have heard, Razer WoW gamer Swifty, along with numerous other players, were banned due to server disruption violations during one of Swifty's live streams that crashed a server. While Swifty acknowledged that he never intended to crash the server, Bashiok responded to the bans by stating that even if no one intended to crash servers or disrupt gameplay, the emote spamming and influx of players brought down many servers. Swifty livestreams events with his guild on occasion and even hosts parts of the stream himself. Being the WoW gamer celebrity that he is, his stream attracts a good number of viewers. His own YouTube video response to his ban acknowledges between 4,000 and 5,000 people were watching his livestream. People flocked to the server, and the disruptions began. A number of players, including Swifty, were banned. Over the course of the day, Blizzard reviewed the information and decided to unban Swifty.

Like we said in our article before, "...until everyone's RSI is smashed into a tiny, tiny ball." Now you see that we really weren't joking about that. But we were in The Matrix Online for the final hours as well, and we managed to get some great screenshots from the end of the game. There were explosions, lightning bolts, oddly colored skies until finally.... in the last few hours... it became beautiful again. The green skies were rolled back in favor of a blue sky tinged with hints of red. Then, of course, we all got our plugs pulled and ended up smashed into... well... you know.If you're interested in how it all looked before everything crashed, check out what we got to see during our final moments! • Retaliation battlegroup down again

For the second Tuesday in a row around the same time (9:00-9:30 pm EST-ish), the US Retaliation battlegroup has crashed. Blizzard has confirmed that it's performing urgent maintenance on the hardware of the affected realms, and they'll provide an update at 11:00 PM EST/8:00 PM PST. Hmmm. Makes you wonder if whatever caused last week's crash was accidentally rolled back during server maintenance earlier today. The following are the affected realms: Area 52, Auchindoun, Azuremyst, Blade's Edge, Blood Furnace, Coilfang, Dawnbringer, Exodar, Fizzcrank, Galakrond, Ghostlands, Grizzly Hills, Shattered Halls, Terokkar, The Scryers, The Underbog, Velen, and Zangarmarsh. My guild's on Retaliation and has consequently found itself without something to raid for the second Tuesday running. Last week their solution was to take off to Mug'thol and do a level 1 Hogger raid, complete with designated tanks and healers, damage meters, and -- to top things off -- a bonafide ninja looter of the Malachite drop. Our server might be down, but our hallowed traditions remain.

  • Siege jeopardy in Darkfall

Nobody likes server crashes. They always seem to come at the most inopportune times. However, there is no greater inopportune time than during a city siege in Darkfall.Sadly, an ill-timed server crash right after a city siege finalized in Darkfall. This lead to data not being properly saved inside all of the systems, putting the siege result into jeopardy.Tasos Flambouras, Darkfall's producer, took a moment to relate the announcement to the community, and outline that the siege results will be corrected during the server maintenance. As a result, the city ownership will be finalized during the maintenance, and the game will move forward from that point. For Tasos's full remarks, check out his post on the official Darkfall forums.[Via MMORPG.com]

  • Unexpected crashes and downtime hit multiple servers

A sudden wave of crashes has hit the North American WoW servers, with the Emberstorm and Whirlwind Battlegroups especially hard hit. As of this writing, most of the affected servers are still down. Blizzard is aware of the issue and is looking into it, but has no further information to give at this time. We'll update this post when we hear more.UPDATE: According to Crygil, tonight's issue was out of Blizzard's control, but luckily things have resolved themselves. All realms should be up within the next half hour.[Thanks to everyone who gave us a heads up!]

  • Patch 3.1 kills dozens of servers in cold blood

Not entirely unexpectedly, many servers are having trouble staying up and active this evening. In most cases the server itself isn't going down, but rather individual continents. Northrend and the instance servers in particular are taking a beating, and at least on my server, Eastern Kingdoms is dropping like a rock every now and then, too.If you had big plans for this evening, you may want to reconsider. At the very least, raiders may want to wait until prime time has passed to give things a whirl. Generally, these things blow over as people start to log off for the evening, and there's less of a load on the server.Blizzard is aware of the issue, so hopefully we'll see a fix for it all soon. I personally suspect it's unlikely things will magically get better tonight, but maybe before the weekend. That would be nice.

  • Server issues abounds this evening

Servers seem to be having all sorts of problems actually staying up tonight. A fair portion of the population is experiencing chronic server crashes, including my home server. A few of my guildmates canceled their 10-man raids as a result of players' inability to stay online. Even when the server isn't down, it's a real pain staying connected. We don't really have any information as far as clear upcoming fixes or how long the issue will last, but we here at WoW Insider most definitely know how you feel. Consider this a show of solidarity. It's lame, and hopefully it will go away soon. If you're just sitting down now to dig into your playtime for the night, expect some interruptions. What we do have is a little bit of information about possible upcoming realm transfers that will be opening up in the near future. Free transfers, of course. You can find Zarhym's list behind the cut below.

  • Of unstable servers, MIA pets and one Scarab Lord Dinosaur

As I mentioned earlier, my server Silver Hand was down Saturday night. All night. I gave up trying around midnight. Friday night, when I was actually able to log on, the Heroic Instance servers went down catching many in my group in a neverending loading screen that forced them to restart the game only to find their toons were not logged out, blocking them from getting back in. Other reports have been pouring in, not only of servers down, but entire Battlegroups, laggy geographical regions and in one case, the disappearance of all of Outland itself. On top of that, strange bugs have been appearing in the game such as zone-wide Wrath buffs appearing in Shadowfang Keep and Northrend lockboxes dropping off of Karazhan mobs. On the Silvermoon realm, the raid instances crashed. When the GMs reset them all they inadvertantly closed the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj as well. A packrat on the server named Dinosaur claims he had a Scepter of the Shifting Sands squirrled away in his bank and he was able to use it to bang the AQ gong to get the Scarab Lord title and claim the Scarab mount. Speaking of mounts, how many of our trusty steeds and non-combat pets were eaten by the servers when we tried to utilize the new storage options implented in Patch 3.0.2. Many players have been petitioning to get those back. Today, Blizzard confirmed what we had been hearing in our tip line: missing mounts and pets are being mailed to characters who lost them. The process isn't complete, but it's happening. They also recommended going to any Stable Master (ask a Hunter) to claim any pets or mounts you deleted yourself before the patch. In the same thread, class balance was addressed as well. It boils down to yes, some classes are OP and others are out of whack. Suck it up til Wrath hits and it will all smooth out. I don't know about you, but I'm going back to my OP Boomkin now. If my server is up.

  • Proudmoore gets badge vendor to 100%, chaos ensues

Chaos! That was the scene on Proudmoore as they became the first server to unlock Sunwell Isle's badge vendor. Smith Hauthaa, completely. As you might expect, every Thrall, Jaina and Larry who'd been saving up Heroic Badges descended on the vendor to cash out, and from what we're told by reader Sync, it was madness.Madness? This is the Sunwell! Surely this is just temporary -- as people get those badges turned in, Hauthaa's popularity will drop back down to much more managable levels. But as you can see from the gallery below, everyone and their alt showed up to buy from the vendor, and there was lots of world PvP, low framerates, and even a server shutdown (we hear) to show for it. Whenever your server opens up, whether you're looking for Warlock, Hunter, Druid, or any other Badge Loot gear, you may just want to wait an hour or two until people settle down and realize that they'll have a long time to buy new Professor Plums with badges.%Gallery-19980%
