HP Mini 1000 six-cell battery gets examined, frightens other batteries
It's been a long time coming, but the six-cell battery for HP's Mini 1000 netbook is now finally making its way into the hands of some eager users, and jkOnTheRun has taken a minute to give folks an idea of what's in store. As you can see above (and from another angle at the link below), the battery is amazingly even more unsightly than suggested in earlier shots, although it does expectedly deliver the goods when it comes to battery life, with jkOnTheRun managing about six hours on a charge. Of course, you'll have to decide for yourself if that's worth the $100+ price tag, not to mention the cost to your Mini 1000's self-esteem.
Dell Mini 10 6-cell battery gets pictured
Dell finally started offering the Mini 10 with a six-cell battery just a couple weeks ago, and it looks like the first batch of orders has started to arrive. As expected, it's a big honking six-cell battery hanging off the edge of an otherwise sleek netbook, but it should provide hours of Atom-powered XP fun. Sadly, current Mini 10 owners can't pick one up separately yet, but we're guessing that'll change soon enough.[Thanks, Peter]
Dell Mini 10 gets six-cell battery option, added pizzazz
Dell's Mini 10 netbook has been a bit more of a work in progress than some early adopters may have hoped, but it is at least getting increasingly more usable, with Dell now finally offering the oft-requested six-cell battery as a selectable option. That'll set you back just $30, and should give you a sizable boost over the stock three-cell battery, which is lucky to get three hours on a charge. If you're looking for a little something extra, you can now also now get the netbook emblazoned with some of the snazzy designs seen on other Dell laptops, although those will set you back up to $60 extra compared to the basic black or white options.[Via Portable Monkey]
Exhaustive netbook battery comparison finds a clear winner, no victims
It's hardly the first netbook battery comparison to appear in the Thunderdome that is the internet, but this latest thirteen-strong round-up from Australia's NetbookReview is one of the more comprehensive to emerge as of late, with it only slightly compromised by a few netbooks that aren't available in the site's home country. Not surprisingly, the netbooks equipped with six-cell batteries came out well ahead of their less well off counterparts, with the MSI Wind U115 Hybrid leading the way with an impressive time of 6:56. That was obviously aided in no small part by the netbook's dual SSD / hard drive setup, and by a less commonly used 5100mAh six-cell battery, as opposed to the 6600mAh version used in the second and third place Eee PCs (which each clocked in around the four-hour mark). Bringing up the rear were the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 and Dell Mini 12, neither of which were able to eek out even two hours of use. As you might expect, however, all of the tests involved a worst-case scenario, so you can expect to get a good deal more juice from all of 'em if you're not spending every waking hour watching WMV files.
HP Mini 1000 six-cell battery now available to order, for real
You may still not be able to get that VGA adapter, but it looks like HP Mini 1000 users can now finally get their hands on the six-cell battery for the netbook, which should provide a significant boost over the stock three-cell battery. As you may recall, this follows a brief spat of seeming availability in January but, judging from some of the responses on the HP Mini forums, it looks like HP has since canceled the few orders that got through before the battery was pulled from its site. Those folks may not be too disappointed any longer, however, as the battery now has a price tag of $95.99 (after a $20 instate rebate), which is quite a bit easier to swallow than the $153.90 that HP was originally asking.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
HP's six-cell battery for Mini 1000 offers twice the battery life, a fraction of the value
Mr. Blurrycam never lies, so when he caught sight of a six-cell battery for HP's Mini 1000 we knew one would be coming soon. Sure enough, three weeks later it's up for sale on HP's site selling for a bargain (gulp) price of $153.90. That's almost half the cost of an entire machine (which currently start at $350) and as of now you can't pay the difference to upgrade from the stock three-cell when customizing a new netbook. That's an awful lot of bank for twice the battery life, but don't let us rain on your parade if you're looking to do your part to help the economy.

While most folks will apparently have to wait at least a few more weeks to get their hands on a six-cell battery for their HP Mini 1000, Xavier Lanier of Notebooks.com was able to snag one a tad early and, whilst he was showing off the stash of gadgets hidden in his Scott eVest, he gave everyone a little glimpse of it. As you can sort of see above, it expectedly adds a bit of bulk to the otherwise slim Mini 1000, but we're guessing that's a more than acceptable trade-off for those craving some extra runtime. Still no word on a price or exact release date just yet, unfortunately, but those details should be popping up before too long. Lenovo S10 with six-cell battery gets pictured, priced
Lenovo's S10 netbook has been relatively well received since its introduction earlier this year, but the battery life has always been a bit of a sticking point, with the included 3-cell battery simply not meeting some folks' netbook demands. It looks like that situation has now been rectified, in Germany, where a new model equipped with a six-cell battery has just gone on sale for the fairly reasonable price of €329 (or roughly $425). Unfortunately, there's no indication of a release 'round these parts just yet, but you can check out some more pics of the somewhat bulky addition by hitting up the link below.
