Dilithium mining is serious business in Star Trek Online. It's what makes a good portion of the game's economy run, after all. So how can you make sure that you're getting the most out of your mine? Well, you probably could put together a spreadsheet... or you could take part in the game's next special fleet project for the fleet dilithium mines, available from September 19th until October 3rd. Fleets that successfully complete this project will have a variety of monitors, consoles, and displays added throughout the mining station, thus giving the environment the air of a futuristic space facility that has bothered to invest in a few wall displays. As with previous special projects, this one will be available only for a limited time, so your fleet will want to jump on this quickly if it seems right for you -- although those displays don't actually offer any real tracking benefits, so you still might want that spreadsheet.

If your fleet has a nice little embassy on New Romulus in Star Trek Online, you'd probably like to make it more than just a square brick building with a handful of desks. That's why the development team has been running a steady series of special projects for players to enjoy, allowing everyone to beautify their diplomatic homes away from home. The newest project is kicking off on April 11th, and it's all about brightening up the place a little. This new project will improve your embassy's shuttle bay, adding several features including an open ceiling for a brighter atmosphere. Fleets who want to undertake the project will have two weeks to complete it, as it runs until April 25th. However, once it's gone it will stay gone, so it's time to get ready for renovations later this week. It might be a little thing, but be honest, you always wanted a shuttle bay with a skylight.

Star Trek Online is introducing its newest special project, Majestic Construction, which will be available from February 14th to the 28th. Once they've completed the project, Federation players will have starbases with improvements to the main area (including a portal to the lower section). Klingon starbases will have staircases and railings with a new Sword of Kahless motif. This is one of a long line of special features for the STO universe. These projects are limited-time events and enable players to unlock new features for their starbases, like more crew and customization options. Players will have to start each special project while it's available, although they'll be able to bring it to completion even after the end of the special event. Only one project may be in progress at a time.
