Guides to choosing and leveling your pet
Recently Lizzie experienced the joyful tribulation facing many hunters as they work their way through from levels 10 to 20, puzzling out the question of which pet suits them best. This is one of my favorite choices in the game, partly because there are so many pets to choose from, partly because your choice really makes a difference, and partly because you're not locked into it if you want to try something different later.For you hunters out there who are looking into what your first pet should be, there is a guide to choosing a pet available on the US forums, which for some reason has not been stickied. It gives you a good overview of the different issues involved in choosing a pet, and sets you in the right direction you'll need to make your choice well. For those of you who have already reached level 70, but decided that you actually want a pet that is only available at low levels (such as that pretty red kitty from Eversong Woods), there is a guide on the EU forums on how to level that pet up in the quickest way possible. You'll need patience for this, of course, and many hunters just don't have enough, even for picking up the highest-level boar in the game from the Eastern Plaguelands. Still, if you have the resolve, this guide can help you take lots of the pain out of the process.

Australia has given the world some really great things like Steve Irwin, kangaroos, Nicole Kidman and her first film - BMX Bandits, which just so happens to be one of my favorite childhood movies. WoW players set up memorial service for croc hunter
With many still lamenting the unfortunate death of Steve Irwin, the man who struck fear into the hearts of elusive crocodiles everywhere, several World of Warcraft players have decided that it would be a marvelous idea to have an in-game memorial service. User Bubbrubb asserts in a WoW forum post that he's deeply upset about the Australian's passing and that a dignified gathering on the computerized coastal area, Zoram Strand, would be a fitting way of saying goodbye. "I would like to spell out CRIKEY with players as a tribute to his wonderous catch phrase, and then we can dance and swim in the ocean to celebrate his life instead of mourning his death."The World of Warcraft has been host to similar events in the past, providing a common virtual ground for those hoping to express their grief with others. Of course, it also provides an outlet for those hoping to barge in on funerals and completely wreck the proceedings with little fear for real repercussion or reprisal. Let's hope there's a magical security detail for this one. [Via CVG]
R.I.P.: Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin
By now you've heard or read of the freak accident that killed Steve Irwin, the famous Crocodile Hunter. He was stung in the heart by a stingray while filming a new documentary on deadly ocean species. We'd like to pay tribute to him in our own small way. The first reason why Joystiq readers should mourn his loss is that that he was involved in making video games. Though he only appears to have been involved in the creation of just one mobile title (The Crocodile Hunter: Operation Rescue), that's not bad for a guy who loved the outdoors to the exclusion of almost everything else. Given Irwin's passion for education and nature, we assume that he helped create the game because it was another venue to educate the public about environmental issues that were important to him. The second reason his loss is a loss for all of us was the man's inherent playfulness and mad reflexes. The dude dodged snake strikes for a living; you think he'd have a problem pwning you newbs in Halo 2? Not likely. Rest in peace, Steve!
Did You Hear Steve Irwin Died?
Boy, MBAzeroth hit the nail on the head with this one. Raise your hand if you heard about the sad death of the Crocodile Hunter from the LFG or the Trade channel. I must have heard about five or six of these conversations this weekend (and even I threw a "no way" in the /raid chat when I first heard about it)."[3. Trade][Carnivera]: yep."What is it about WoW players that attracts us to this story? Maybe it's just because everyone was online playing when this happened over the holiday weekend, but nobody was talking about the VMAs or even the Lamont victory when that stuff happened last month. For some reason, when it comes to this culture, it's Steve Irwin and Chuck Norris that piques our interest.And for the record, RIP Steve. No matter how much you guys joke about it, the man was an icon, raised awareness of wildlife and conservation issues all over the world, and he left behind a wife and two children that (I remember seeing on one of his shows at one point) he loved very much.
