One of the scariest games I ever played has to be the original Silent Hill. A nearly empty town shrouded with fog and featuring one of the most terrifying elementary schools ever devised? Yes, this is why I didn't sleep much in 1999. So when I started to get flashbacks as Fernando Paiz took me through the creepy alleyways of Dungeon and Dragons Online's upcoming update, I had to excuse myself and run around the PAX East show floor for a few minutes while shrieking like a tormented cat. OK, it wasn't that frightening, but I definitely was getting a Silent Hill vibe from the latest adventure pack that Turbine has crafted for the game. Coming "soon" (TM, all rights reserved, void in Utah and the Yukon Territories), DDO's Update 9 promises to bring a wide assortment of lavish treats to a hungry populace. At the center of it is a level 15 quest chain that centers around mysterious abductions, a skittish population, and nightmares made flesh. Hit the jump as I recall my brush with certain death in these adventures and relate the other jewels of Update 9!

Well, hey, how about that Inner Rage, huh? I seem to recall asking for something like that a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I can see the future. In which case, where are these insights when big lottery jackpots are on the line? So far, looking over the warrior changes I see some good, some bad, some very good and some we don't know yet. So let's get down to brass tacks, as it were. Bornakk Heroic Leap (Level 85): This ability makes the character leap at their target and apply the Thunder Clap ability to all enemies in the area when they land. Heroic Leap will be usable in Battle Stance and shares a cooldown with Charge, but the Juggernaut and Warbringer talents will allow Heroic Leap to be used in any stance and possibly while in combat. The cooldown for this ability might be longer than the Charge ability, but it will also apply a stun effect so you can make sure the target will still be there when you land. source I really have nothing negative here. I hope they can make it work out, since in Wrath the biggest issue with this ability was its targeting. I assume they're getting around that by making it require a target to work, as the language seems to indicate.

I was intrigued when information was leaked about a supposed new Revolution game, "Sunder: Land of Divide". The leak was from an anonymous source, but the weapon renders and details were so well made that it was given some credence. Not to mention, the game itself looked fascinating, and it seemed to be using the Revolution controller in very interesting ways. For instance, to select and throw a bomb, you twist the controller right twice, then you hold A and swing the controller. The developer seemed to be embracing the newfangled control system wholeheartedly.Well, an update has been posted. The developer, LifeSpark Studios, has confirmed that this leak was part of a viral marketing campaign designed to generate buzz about its first game. The game doesn't have a publisher yet, but by releasing part of the 60 page pitch package, the studio hoped to promote the game, even though it is a small developer with no previous releases. The "leaked" info was interesting and professional-grade, so hopefully the added buzz will give this developer the recognition necessary to be picked up by a publisher. This isn't the first time viral marketing has worked, but it seems to be growing in popularity. If this game gets picked up, we may see small developers using this ploy more often in the future.
