In case you were wondering what the intro to Tekken 6 looks like, here you go. We get to see a couple familiar faces and then the introduction of the new ones. Our big buddy Bob seems quite agile, despite his size. It could make for an interesting fight against armed bank robbers, we guess. Anyway, check it out as it's something to get you pumped if you make your way to a Japanese arcade when it's released. Or when it hits on PS3 sometime in the fairly distant future.

A few weeks ago, we learned all about Bob's interesting training habits that involved consuming heavy doses of donuts, but until today, we haven't seen the newest Tekken 6 fighter in action.GamesRadar has published several images that prove, despite Bob's weight problem, he's actually quite a nimble fellow. Who would've thought a character that resembles the late Chris Farley could kick above his head?Bob and the rest of the Tekken 6 cast are set to hit the PS3 next year.

Curious to see how the latest arcade brawler is shaping up for its console release late next year? We're sure you are! We've gotten a hold of some of the latest screenshots and we're surprised at how far the game has come along. Everything looks fantastic, but there is one problem -- we want to see it in action. As awesome as any screenshots are, it's nothing compared to watching those stills come to life and beat each other silly. The ground textures need a little work in a few of the stages, but since the game hasn't hit the final stretch by any means, we're not too concerned that kind of thing will get overlooked. Enjoy the new screenshots in our gallery, or if you can't figure out which are new, head over to the official Tekken website. %Gallery-3634%

  • Meet Tekken 6's new fatty: Bob

You kind of have to feel bad for new Tekken 6 fighter "Bob," seen here in a new photo from Japanese Arcadia magazine. Maybe he's always thought of himself as "the guy with curly blond hair" or "the guy who always wears suspenders" or "the guy with the completely unremarkable name." But put against Tekken's crew of hard bodies, Bob is and always will be "the fat one." Apparently, that's all part of the plan. According to the magazine, Bob used to buy into to myth of conventional beauty, but he got frustrated by how his size limited him. So ... he got super fat. No, it doesn't make a ton of sense to us either, but what do you want? It's Tekken. [Via CVG]

  • New Tekken 6 character revealed -- Bob

Bob is a martial arts genius. When he was a bit younger, he had a handsome face and a toned body that complimented this fighting intelligence perfectly. You could say, in Tekken 6, he would have blended right in with many of the other male fighters. But Bob ran into a problem -- he couldn't beat any opponents "larger" than he. So, he decided to take a few years off the fighting circuit and "train" himself to become larger than any opponent. Thus, Bob went on the "all donut all the time" diet and grew rotund enough to take out anyone. Tekken 6 is getting a pretty colorful cast of characters, no? This new scan talks about Bob, the newest revealed character, as well as mentioning that a media showing in mid-September will have the latest build of the game playable in Japan. Or something. We can't read Japanese too well. Either way, we're glad to see the cast of one of the biggest fighting game continue to grow.

A long while back, we talked about a new character entering the Tekken 6 arena: Miguel, a matador of sorts. Since then, a lot of fancy new screenshots have been thrown up detailing some of the other characters. Not just screenshots, but some pieces of CG artwork have made their way across the series of tubes we call the internet. Included in the gallery below are a bunch of in-game stills featuring ladies in provocative clothing, but there are other shots hovering around the web of equal awesomeness. Check out the gallery, enjoy, and tell us which character you are the absolute master of. It has been said that Tekken 6 will have the largest cast in the series' history. Plan to test out any of the new characters, or will you stick with your old favorite? %Gallery-3634% [via Joystiq]

NeoGAF forum member neo2046 recently shared a number of scans from Japanese magazine Famitsu. The images show off Tekken 6, the highly anticipated fighting game from Namco coming to arcade and PS3 platforms and rumored to be headed to the Xbox 360. The scans unveil a new character, a sexy flamboyant matador by the name of Miguel. The belt and flowing shirt are all fine and well, but why does that pose remind us of Inigo Montoya? The cast of Tekken 6 will be the largest of any Tekken game, implying that previous characters will return along with newbies such as Miguel. Confirmed new fighters also include Zafina and Leo, and Joystiq is lobbying to have our very own Ludwig Kietzmann included added to the team. Stay tuned.

Today, NeoGAF member neo2046 uploaded, out of the kindness of his/her own heart, the latest scans from Japanese magazine Famitsu regarding the hotly anticipated (but strangely forgotten about) fighting game Tekken 6. What do we have to show for it? A couple of impressive screenshots, despite the magazine transfer undoubtedly holding back the "ooh-aah" potential. There's also a new character introduced, it seems. A matador makes his debut in these scans. You've got to admit though, the way he's looking at the reader is very sexy, as we'd expect from a matador! We're kidding, of course. We can't read his name since we're ignorant, but the alternate costume right above him seems pretty cool. Hopefully he'll play decently. The second page holds pictures of the other two new characters, but that's nothing new. In any case, check out the scans and let us know what you think!

A handful of new Tekken 6 scans have popped up online for your perusal. Taken from a Japanese magazine, the quality of the scans isn't fantastic, but they are good enough to show off some nice lighting and texture detail. We also get a peek at Yoshimitsu's new design. Everybody's philanthropic robot is looking a lot more dark and evil these days. Maybe he didn't like getting shot in the face in Bryan's Tekken 5 end-game cinematic...

  • Namco Bandai plots a cell-processor driven arcade board

Namco Bandai has recently announced that they plan to create a set of arcade games using none other than the PlayStation 3's Cell processor. In fact, the arcade machines are supposed to use the same Nvidia designed RSX graphics chips as the PS3 -- making conversions later on that much easier. Like Tekken 6. Oh, yeah. According to Gamasutra, this will be the first time the Cell processor will be used in a consumer product other than the PlayStation 3. That's pretty cool, especially the notion that it'll decrease the time needed to get the game put onto a home console, into eagerly awaiting hands. Now if only we could get all of our consumer electronics outfitted with the Cell and somehow make the PS3 and everything else wirelessly talk to one another. Completely useless and unnecessary, sure, but that'd be pretty crazy to go out with a camcorder (or whatever you kids call 'em these days) and have it streaming real-time on the PS3, possibly on a YouTube-ish website. As we said, completely useless, but hey. Random ideas are fun.

  • Namco Bandai adopts Cell for arcades, Tekken 6 to be guinea pig

Not content with just three Sony exclusives, Namco Bandai has announced that the arcade version of Tekken 6 will utilize the Cell processor, making it the first commercial use for Cell outside of the PlayStation 3. This isn't the first time that Namco has adopted PlayStation hardware for the arcade as both their System 11 and System 256 boards, for example, produced plenty of Playstation-based hits. What remains to be seen, however, is whether or not Namco Bandai will license out this technology for other developers to use. While they have done so in the past, they are currently undecided. Tekken 6 is still slated for an arcade release later this year with no solid date as of yet.

I said this to one of the folks who took the time to shoot me a message on the PlayStation Network (NDoerrFans, if you're interested), but before I gave Virtua Fighter 5 the ol' test, I had only played Soul Calibur as far as 3D fighters go -- and I hated them. Raised on Street Fighter 2, Samurai Showdown, Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear X (never did pick up X2), I found the "realisitic" fighters slow, boring and pretty clunky. I still think high-res 2D fighters are the top-tier of awesome, but that's a different style of play. Now I'm interested in Tekken 6 as well as Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (coming on March 1st to the US PS-Store, according to IGN's release date schedule) since Virtua Fighter 5 has become my favorite PS3 game. Tekken 6 is coming to arcades this year. Namco-Bandai hasn't been really specific about it, but they're going to begin location testing before the weather gets hot. So, look around your arcades around, oh, May? In Athens, there's only one arcade in a really crummy mall and the arcade... sucks. So we'll leave it up to those of you in more popular arcade arenas to let us know how the title looks and plays.

  • Tekken 6 screenshots, characters spotlighted

Honestly, I haven't been following Tekken 6 news as stringently as I probably should have. So, if the two characters highlighted on the official Tekken website aren't new or recently introduced, apologies are in order. Anyway, we have here "Zafina" and "Leo" -- the former appears to be a gypsy of sorts, the latter is a very, very effeminate guy. We think. On the website, there are a plethora of fresh screenshots and a downloadable trailer as well as wallpapers of the two characters mentioned above. Take a gander at your leisure... but... we've got another question to pose. The 3-D fighters have a tendency to blend together in the uneducated mind. Knowing this, which 3-D fighter is your favorite and why? Do you prefer using weaponry, like in Soul Calibur? Do you enjoy the realistic fighting in Virtua Fighter? How about the blatant exaggerations and bloodiness found in Mortal Kombat? Or is Tekken your flavor of choice? Let us know!

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gaming_news/Tekken_6_unveiled_at_AOU_2007'; Namco has unveiled the arcade version of Tekken 6 at Japan's AOU 2007 coin-op exhibition, along with a new website. The new page features a brief trailer of the new fighter, several screenshots (available below for your convenience) and wallpaper of the two new characters: Leo and Zafina. It's difficult to comb much information from the trailer concerning the newcomers to the series, but from the looks of it, Namco is set to challenge the throne of Itagaki when it comes to underage heartthrobs with Leo. Zafina, on the other hand, is a Latina woman of the mature persuasion who looks to possess a highly unorthodox fighting style. Joining them thus far are old favorites Asuka, Jack, Brian Fury, King and Dragunov, though the cast will naturally swell as time goes on.Though it is quite early (and due for a 2007 release, according to the trailer), Tekken 6 appears to be around the same level of visual quality as last years Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. While one can argue that even Tekken 5 wasn't a graphical leap beyond Tekken 4, we're keeping our fingers crossed for some serious upgrades.%Gallery-1673%

  • Rumor: Tekken 6 on Xbox 360

Stirred by Sega's announcement of an Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5, comes rumor that Tekken 6 is also bound for Microsoft's console. The source of the rumor is the same anonymous "IGN insider" who has been apparently credited with breaking the Virtua Fighter 5 news before Sega confirmed it. If his latest spill proves valid, expect Namco Bandai's next Tekken on 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. There is no indication that this multiplatform initiative would extend to the recently released downloadable version of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, which looks to remain a PS3 exclusive. While console versions of the Tekken series have traditionally be reserved for Sony platforms, Tekken 3 was eventually released for Dreamcast Tekken 3 was emulated on Dreamcast; and Tekken Advance was specifically designed and released for Game Boy Advance. If Tekken 6 does land on Xbox 360, the move is not unprecedented.

  • Rumor of the day: Tekken 6 for 360 [update 1]

    01.02.2007

Coming from several different sources is yet another rumor that a major PS3 exclusive is going to jump ship. This time it's the perennial combo crunching fighter, Tekken 6. Furthermore, Namco is already working on the title, and it will be available just after the PS3 version. Though Virtua Fighter 5 is nothing to sneeze at, industry watchers will know that Tekken is Sony's big name fighting franchise. Since its inception, no Tekken game has graced a non-Sony console, with the minor exception of Tekken Advance on the GBA. The info comes from an anonymous tipster at IGN -- supposedly the same person who leaked the Virtua Fighter 5 info. Could it be true? Company loyalty tells us no, but financial logic tells us yes. Namco brought Soul Calibur II to multiple platforms, only to have Sony snag exclusivity for Soul Calibur III. We're betting that Namco made a lot more money with Soul Calibur II (we're sure Link helped with that). Honestly, if Sony can't get PS3s into people's homes, publisher have no choice but to go multiplatform. This rumor is still tenuous for now, but it wouldn't surprise us if it was true.[Via PS3 Fanboy]Update: Reader, tpudd, reminds us that there was in fact one non-Sony Tekken game, Tekken Advance for the GBA.
