Today on In Case You Missed It: A company called FoldiMate is selling a standalone machine to sit alongside a washing and dryer and fold about 20 garments at a time for $850. Cornell University engineers are sending tiny interstellar computers to the ISS this summer, there they will act as satellites and, eventually, collect information from our nearest neighboring star system, Alpha Centauri. We also round up the week in our TL; DR segment. If you grew up playing The Sims, this piece of news might interest you. We're also very interested in the Visa payment ring the Olympic athletes can wear in Rio. As always, please share any great tech or science videos you find by using the #ICYMI hashtag on Twitter for @mskerryd.

  • Majesco gets Twister license, Kinect-enabled version coming in November

Even though there's already a Twister game included in Family Game Night 3 -- and even though the only equipment you need for Twister is, essentially, a table cloth -- Majesco has announced plans to release its own take on the classic game of humiliating entanglements this November. The, yes, twist here is that unlike the previous version (which reimagined Twister as a rhythm game), this Twister game uses the Kinect sensor to allow you to gesticulate and pretzel yourself up for real. It'll include 16 different modes, including one that has players dodging shapes for some reason.

Once again, it's time for us to play a quick round of "One of These Things is Not Like the Others!" Our contestants are the five titles that will be added to your ever-burgeoning collection of digital board games this fall, with the release of Hasbro Family Game Night 3 for Wii, 360 and PS3. Okay, here goes: The Game of Life, Clue, Mouse Trap, Yahtzee Hands Down and ... Twister. We'll give you a second to think. Here's a hint: We separated the weird one from the other ones using an ellipsis. Twister? We can logistically see how the other four games could be adapted into a video game format, but ... Twister? Will Hasbro Family Game Night 3 come bundled with a polka-dotted floor mat peripheral? Regardless, we'll have to find out when Game Night 3 releases this fall, as the games will come bundled in a single retail package this time around, and, well -- we just have to get our hands on a video game version of Mouse Trap.

Again this week the biggest news is the lack of a Blu-ray release, but this time from a studio that hasn't announced it'd go Blu. That's right, the once Red exclusive Weinstein, has been MIA in the HD movie business for a long time and no word when that might change. But I'm Not There isn't the biggest loss Blu has seen recently, and there are a few titles to get excited about. The big day-and-date title this week is from Warner with P.S. I Love You, which is the same studio that has the biggest catalog title with Twister. Sony also has a day-and-date and catalog combo with the comedy First Sunday and the Harrison Ford flick The Devil's own. Next week is another slow week, sort'a the calm before the storm because the week after Paramount comes back and with it will be the biggest release for Blu-ray ever, with 24 releases! Blu-ray 525*Blu-ray The Air I Breathe (Image) The Devil's Own (Sony) First Sunday (Sony) Helvetica (Plexifilm) Helvetica (Limited Edition) (Plexifilm) Ozzfest: 10th Anniversary (Warner Music Group) P.S. I Love You (Warner) Saawariya (Sony) Shall We Dance? (Walt Disney) Twister (Warner) * Blu-ray total does not reflect 32 Paramount titles that were previously officially available.

  • TWISTER: goggle-free 3D rotating panoramic display

In a device eerily akin to teleportation machines seen in major motion pictures (seriously, check it after the break), the Telexistence Wide-angle Immersive STEReoscope aims to "immerse viewers in a 3D video environment" sans those pesky goggles. Developed by a team at the University of Toyko, TWISTER is being hailed as the "world's first full-color 360-degree 3D display that does not require viewers to wear special glasses," and it's finally coming together after a decade of work. Within the cylindrical, rotating device, you'll find some 50,000 LEDs that give off the illusion of a three-dimensional object without any ocular aids. Moreover, the team is already looking into the possibility of adding 3D videophone technology to spruce up video telephony, but we'd be totally content with a couple rounds of Halo in this thing.[Via PinkTentacle]
