There are many places that lie empty within Azeroth, those interesting nooks and crannies that get our imaginations going. While exploring Stormwind I came across Cut-throat Alley, a little cul-de-sac hidden away in the Canal District. This is exactly the sort of place that makes me curious. I can see in my mind's eye a thoroughfare bustling with shady dealers and rogues, tucked away and out of site from the rest of the city, their dealings too dark to go on under the public eye. One of my favorite empty spaces is now filled: I used to camp all my characters out in what is now the Stormwind Auction House, since I enjoyed pretending it was my own private home within the city. Or the courthouse in the Dwarven District. Here the great magistrates of Stormwind might have sat, dealing out justice to those who break the realm's laws. There are all sorts of stories that we can build out of these empty spaces. I once found an empty cave in Azshara without mob or mining node, the sort of place you might expect a hermit to hang out in, or a mountain troll, hungering for the flesh of wayward travelers. Perhaps these are the places that originally had content but somehow it changed over the course of the development cycle. In the case of Cut-throat Alley, it looks to me like it was the original home for the rogues of Stormwind, but somehow seemed too difficult to find. Now, being that I play mostly Alliance characters, I don't know the empty spaces that might be found in Orgrimmar or Undercity. But these places get me wondering. Are there any empty spaces in the game that you wonder about?

A rogue has never been my main, so I've never had the pleasure of stealthing in to an opposing faction city just to explore, like Gweedo has. Sure, I've done my share of charging into the gates of an enemy cities, and even done a bit of corpse-hopping touristry once I've gotten there. (Did you realize that the tram between Stormwind and Ironforge is considered neutral territory? On a PvE server, once you get down there, you can stay and visit with the Alliance for as long as you'd like!) But it's not quite the same as stealthing all the way to the faction leader and stabbing them in the back. I'm going to need to level my rogue some more purely for the pleasure of having such an experience -- but in the meantime, we can all live vicariously through Gweedo's tale of stealth and subterfuge.

Why do trolls have tusks? Why better to save them from the Undercity's elevator of death! If you are not familiar with this diabolical mechanism, if you time it just wrong, you can walk on to or off of the elevator platform just as the platform is descending again -- resulting in a fall that's just far enough to kill you. However, if you're lucky (or a troll!) there's a narrow invisible platform you can save yourself on until the platform comes up again and you can open the door. Thanks, Ray, for the shot!Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Tell us about it by e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com! You can attach a picture file or send us a link to one -- and don't worry about formatting, we'll take care of that part. See more of your pics from Around Azeroth. %Gallery-1816%

  • Sex in the Undercity: A guide to finding love in Azeroth

The Valentine's Day event started last week. Love, exciting and new, is in the air in Azeroth, and I sent my undead rogue, Punishment of Thunderhorn, to go looking for love in all the wrong places. He didn't exactly make time with Sylvanas Windrunner (she's such a banshee), but he was able to form a real odd couple. You can see his journey in the Gallery below, and get a firsthand look at just how love works in Azeroth. The event ends Thursday, so go through the guide below to see the ins and outs of finding your soulmate (or mates, as the case may be), and then get to it! Love is in the air! %Gallery-1608%
