I assure you, it's a complete coincidence that I'm writing a column on romance the week of Valentine's Day. Seriously: I have a 10-gallon cowboy hat filled to the brim with ideas for Perfect Ten and draw one every two weeks. It just so happened that -- again, in a complete coincidence -- the topic of romance and a romance-centric holiday occurred on the same day. You're not buying it, are you. I've always said that you're too wily for me. Whether or not Valentine's Day is something you do, gaming couples do turn to their favorite hobby for a virtual dating hotspot from time to time. It only makes sense. These aren't just worlds where we are celebrated serial killers and butchers of entire races but places in which we live out pretend lives while taking it very, very seriously. So if you're ever in the position where you want to go on a date in-game, here are 10 romantic activities that this Casanova suggests.

Poor Frantz! With Valentine's Day coming up, the pressure is on for him to find his long-lost love Amelia. Fortunately, the entirety of the Rusty Hearts crew has got his back and will do their best to help true love find a way. This next chapter of the game's storyline is coming on February 14th with Rusty Hearts' Requiem update. It's not just about wuv, twue wuv, but also about kicking butt in all sorts of new locales. An eight-person raid dungeon called The Altar will present one of the toughest challenges in the game to date -- and brand-new weapons for those who master it. If you're looking for something more bite-sized, however, Requiem has four standard dungeons on the docket as well: Opera House, Catwalks, Gallery, and Ramparts. Perfect World will also be adding several other features to the game, including a new character for sale (Roselle Vergerius), an increased level cap, a whopping 200 new and upgraded high-level skills, and the hub world of Training Camp. We have a trailer for Rusty Hearts' lonely hearts update after the jump!

Roses are red, violets are blue, Valentine's Day will be back eventually in DCU... O. Fortunately for those disappointed with the lackluster event last year, SOE agreed with the general sentiment and promised that the future version will be the snugglebunny event of the season. However, it looks like the new, improved Love Day feats won't make it to the game in time for February 14th. That said, the team is already focusing on several upcoming events to coincide with each of the major seasons. "Over the next cycle, starting with summer, we will be adding the following: Boss fights to Summer, Winter, and Spring, and open world content to Fall," Creative Director Jens Andersen writes. The next scheduled event in DCUO is for March's St. Patrick's Day. Hopefully, by this time next year DCUO will be in a more loving mood with Valentine's Day 2.0!

Whether you're in the mood for hard combat or soft, silky underwear, Vindictus has you covered, strangely enough. Nexon's free-to-play title is charging through February in style, starting with a Valentine's Day event and ending with its massive Lost Artifacts update. Quirky events have quickly become one of Vindictus' staples. Right now players can participate in V-Day events for special rewards. If fishing and chocolate hunting isn't your bag, you can simply purchase a Valentine's Package at the Supply Depot for "sexy Valentine's themed Inner Armor." Cute undies, in other words. Valentine's events will end after the 15th, so players are encouraged to partake sooner rather than regret it later. On the 16th, Nexon rolls out the Lost Artifact update, which includes an increase in level cap to 60, six bonus chapters, and the Hoarfrost Depths and Hilder Forest zones. Lost Artifact also features two new modes, Hero and Gauntlet, for those seeking a more challenging dungeon experience. You can check out pictures from these events as well as the Lost Artifact trailer after the jump.

WoW Europe's Valentine's Day contest seems to be becoming an annual event, which should be good news for our EU brethren. Vaneras officially announced the contest and its rules Monday, which you can find on the official EU website. It seems pretty straightforward, as far as what you need to do. Make a Valentine's Day card! You know, like those ones you handed out in school as a little kid? If you need to see some examples before you get crackin' on it yourself, they still have last year's winners on display for all to see. They're taking submissions from now until February 1st, and you're limited to five submissions per household. There are some regional restrictions and the usual terms and conditions you'll need to agree to, so head on over and check it out! Good luck to everyone that enters, we look forward to seeing the winners! Love is in the Air and on WoW Insider. Check out our continuing coverage of the event and our guide to earning the achievement. And you better hurry; the holiday only lasts five days!

  • V-Day to come to Second Life: sadly not entirely smooth sailing

You may or may not have heard of V-Day. It is an international day of activity with the aim of stopping violence against women. If you have never heard of the protest day before, you have almost certainly heard of its most famous fundraising activity: the Vagina Monologues.A group of women in Second Life decided to stage the Vagina Monologues as part of fundraising activities for V-Day. They correctly approached vday.org, and were given permission to perform. Then things got messy. According to Lillie Yifu's excellent (but frequently NSFW) blog 2nd Sex HBO hold the copyright for broadcast versions of the play, and claim that Second Life is a broadcast rather than a theatrical performance medium. Whilst I can see their lawyer's point, I rather think they've missed the wider point of just why they are looking to do this. However, happily, all is not lost. The organisers have decided to host their own event, called In the Pink. If you would like to know more about this and get involved, or write for it there is a meeting on Tuesday 30th at 6pm SLTime in the VLS theatre sim.
