WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I love Twitter. It's an innovative form of social media in which you can fill people in on what's going on in your life. It's an easy way for me to keep tabs on my friends and coworkers, follow the latest baseball game if I don't happen to be near a television, and it puts me in closer contact with the rest of the WoW community. Plus, I get to watch Michael Sacco confess his undying love for Claussen pickles in real time. What's not to love? I asked folks on Twitter for links to blog posts they enjoyed, and they followed through. Now you can enjoy them too! No pickles required. WTS Heals chats about the future state of holy priests in patch 4.2. Restokin goes over the ongoing problems with Eclipse. Tree Heals Go Woosh explains the ins and outs of healing evaluations. Son of a Lich discusses the flavor of classes -- specifically, death knights. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Joy is defined as an emotion of great, intense, exultant happiness, or the expression or manifestation of such feeling. However, in my world, joy is finding a WoW-themed Bon Jovi parody that's sung with absolute perfection. But let's move on to other things like PUGs, the Dungeon Finder, and the social obligations of WoW as collected from blogs here and there around the internet, shall we? ... While we listen to the killer soundtrack, and I try to figure out why I've never heard of this guy before. The Bossy Pally explains the various ins and outs of social contracts as they relate to WoW. Mortigan the Warlock ponders the mystifying revolving door properties of Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman. Spellbound wonders why players leveling up seem to be far more relaxed toward new players than those already max level. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. It occurs to me that in a cinematic world dominated by often-unnecessary sequels, The Princess Bride managed to avoid that particular curse. This is a terribly good thing, because it absolutely didn't need a sequel in any way. You hear that, moviemakers? Don't you start getting ideas. Today, we've got a collection of posts from around the blogosphere regarding ... well, death. But don't worry. It's only mostly death. Totem Forest goes over the fine art of reviewing raid deaths on World of Logs. Righteous Defense points out agility for tanks is well and truly dead come patch 4.2. We Fly Spitfires asks the rather bold question, would it be good for the MMO industry if WoW died? Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Remember when "nerf" was nothing more than those silly foam toys that shot projectiles at unsuspecting targets? Yeah, me too. Today, however, we're going to talk about the other kind of nerf, as we take a look around the blogosphere at some responses to the announced nerfs to T11 content once patch 4.2 goes live. MMO Melting Pot wonders who, exactly, all these nerfs are intended for. Killing 'em Slowly thinks that the nerfs are possibly trying to fix something that isn't broken. Big Bear Butt is wondering how everyone feels about the current state of raid accessibility and progression. Lastly and on a lighter note, I Like Bubbles features a handy flowchart illustrating the woes of a raid leader. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Cat videos crack me up. Enough said. Today we've got a smattering of posts from around the blogosphere regarding various things that maybe you ought to be paying attention to ... though perhaps not quite as closely as the cat featured above. Screaming Monkeys goes over the various ins and outs of setting up dual main specs. The Stories of O discusses the advantages and usefulness of dwarven priests. Falling Leaves and Wings points out why it's terribly important that you pay attention to your choices in desk seating. Lastly, Manalicious recounts a pleasant tale of a random act of kindness from a stranger. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I love Valiona and Theralion on heroic mode. While everyone else runs around screaming, my rogue buddies and I get to run around willy-nilly in the Twilight Realm, dodging bullets and randomly smacking around dragons. I don't really know how the rest of the raid feels about it, but I'm guessing from the instructions and play-by-play our raid leader calls out, it's much safer where I happen to be. Much, much safer. Like Kargath. Today, we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere that partake in discussion about various aspects of raiding. Kiss My Alas has a guest post that talks about the relationship between real life and raiding. Holy Troll ponders the pros and cons of the Dungeon Journal being added in patch 4.2. Raid Trauma thinks that heroic modes are way less fun than longer, harder instances. Mana Obscura ponders the definition of hardcore raiding. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Earlier this week, Blizzard announced the upcoming introduction of the Dungeon Finder premium service, a service that will allow you to group with friends on your Real ID account. It also announced that this service would be available for a fee, sparking a whole mess of feedback on the forums and in the blogosphere -- and we've got a handful of posts surrounding the somewhat controversial topic for you. As for the DuckTales theme, I could argue that the television show used to air on a premium channel and is therefore related, but really ... I just wanted to get the theme song stuck in your head. You can thank me later. World of Matticus wonders: Would you pay for premium? Blessing of Kings isn't quite sure what to think of the new premium service. The Noisy Rogue thinks the new premium service makes perfect sense. Corath's Blog thinks, at first glance, that the premium service is an excellent idea. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Every once in a while, someone posts something that generates a lot of interest in the blogosphere, resulting in a small waterfall of posts around the same topic. Today, we're going to look at posts regarding a topic suggested by our own Mat McCurley over on Twitter: How do you set up a UI for each class into five buttons, one modifier key and a middle mouse click? That's 11 buttons to play with and still have your character perform just as well as anyone else out there. The concept is an interesting one, and a group of bloggers decided to tackle the idea for themselves. Cynwise's Battlefield Manual discusses the 5x2 project and the potential for simplicity. Fel Concentration has some brainstorming regarding the project in regards to warlocks, addons and spell usage. Shiny Pally looks at the project from a paladin perspective. Authorized to Ramble tackles restoration and balance druids with the 5x2 system. If you'd like to try your hand at the 5x2 challenge, be sure to mention any posts to Fel Concentration, who is keeping track of it all in one handy place! WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. While the above video isn't my guild, it brings back memories of my first guild's attempts on Vaelastraz back in the day -- and of what my priest's UI looked like while I tried to keep 40 people alive. We did prepare for the fight, though, carefully instructing our raiders on strategy, where to stand, how to watch aggro -- and most importantly, we told them very clearly to find a safe place to die when they got the Burning Adrenaline debuff. One failed attempt we were perplexed by the absence of a shaman's body, only to find he wasn't even in the instance anymore -- he'd hearthed out while the buff was active. Perplexed and annoyed, the officers asked him to explain himself. "You told me to go somewhere safe," he said. "Kargath is much safer than in there with that dragon." We couldn't really argue with that assessment. Today, we've got a handful of posts from around the blogosphere that explain a great deal about various and sundry things in WoW. World of Matticus has a guest post explaining the ins and outs of the EPGP loot system. Life in Group 5 explains all there is to know about resto shaman mastery. I Like Pancakes explains some of the ins and outs and strategies of the gem market and jewelcrafting. Troll Racials are Overpowered attempts to explain the relationship between the entry barrier to raiding and population, complete with a nifty chart. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Representing probably the most puzzling choice of literature to turn into an animated feature is Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, based on the novel by Victor "Everyone dies or is miserable in the end" Hugo. Despite the attempt to turn a Hugo novel into a rollicking romp, I did love the music and imagery from the film, and Frollo remains one of the most evil Disney villains to date. I mean, he didn't even really hesitate -- he just went to go chuck a baby in a well because it was ugly. Brr. Moving on! Though Disney's adaptation of Hugo's work nearly made me cry tears of how-could-you, today we've got some posts regarding tiers of a very different kind -- tier 12, the next tier of armor available in patch 4.2. The Stories of O has some thoughts on priest set bonuses with T12. Cannot Be Tamed takes a look at resto druid T12, including a look at the new mastery. Kurn's Corner finds holy paladin T12 to be somewhat promising. I Like Bubbles has a few words to say about the design of paladin T12. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Despite my commenting about the myth-mangling wonder of Disney's Hercules in our last installment, I did actually like the movie, you know. The way they stylized the art in the film around art depicted on Grecian urns was pretty cool, and the characters were entertaining as far as that goes. Plus it had a killer soundtrack. In WoW, you don't have to make any herculean efforts to make some extra gold for your character -- and there are an astonishing number of blogs out there on the fine arts of goldmaking, as pointed out to me by our very own Basil Berntsen. Let's take a look at a few more merchandising opportunities, shall we? Foo's WoW Musings has a wonderful series of posts that go over the basics of creating glyphs for profit. Player vs. Auction House talks about using the much more easily obtained Maelstrom Crystals to generate extra cash for your character. Anaalius.com points out a few upcoming ways to make gold in patch 4.2. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I don't know what's stranger about Disney's Pocahontas -- the fact that they decided to make a fictional cartoon movie out of something that actually took place in history, or the fact that David Ogden Stiers not only voices two characters in the film but actually performs a duet with himself as two different characters. ... But then, we're talking about the same film company that stomped all over Greek mythology with Hercules, so I guess I shouldn't really find it that odd, should I? Speaking of gold -- mountains of it -- today, we've got a very different Daily Quest full of blogs with all kinds of gold-making tips, tricks and insights: Auction House Addict discusses ways of making gold through the time-honored art of cooking. Power Word: Gold fills us in on a profitable skinning route and the virtues of the Potion of Treasure Finding. Break the Bank points out why farming might actually be a bad idea when trying to turn a profit. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Specs! Not the outdated name for the things that help you see -- the things that determine just what you are in World of Warcraft. It's not just about healing, tanking or DPS; it's also about what type of DPS you're doing, with some classes. With the release of patch 4.1, specs for various classes changed in both welcome and unwelcome ways. Fear not! We've got a few posts from around the blogosphere regarding said patch and said specs. DoTs and HoTs wrote up a helpful guide for newbie affliction warlocks in patch 4.1. Life in Group 5 has a similarly helpful guide for resto shaman in patch 4.1. Planet of the Hats shares some thoughts about 4.1 and elemental shaman AoE. The Bossy Pally checks out the 4.1 changes to 4.1 holy paladin mastery. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. We had a tank in my guild, a very good tank. Occasionally when we were learning new content, he would suggest something completely out of the box, or he'd pipe up in Vent and ask, "So what happens if I pull that guy?" When asked why, he replied "For science!" and proceeded to do whatever it was his fool bear brain thought about doing, usually with disastrous results. The moral of the story is: When a giant talking bear suggests doing something for scientific purposes, brace yourself. Bad things are about to happen. But as far as science, progress and improvements go, we've got a handful of posts from around the blogosphere thinking up new and innovative ways of making your WoW life just a wee bit more convenient. Priest With A Cause has been running without Recount and observing the results. Kiss My Alas has dissected the loot-tracking addon KonferSK and posted the results on how exactly to use it. The World of Matticus thinktank has come up with some ways that the new in-game recruitment system could be improved. Sheep the Diamond proposes the paring down of the perilous Penalty Volcano. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Yes, it's Children's Week again, if the dozens of orphans gleefully running around Stormwind and Orgrimmar hadn't clued you in. This year, I participated in the quests, seeing as how there were two new pets available. The curious part came after the Orgrimmar quest was turned in, however -- I zoned into Blackwing Descent for our raid, and lo and behold, little orphan orc followed me in, despite my obediently deposting him at the orphanage. Apparently, the boy wanted to watch 25 raiders repeatedly die to a buggy and laggy raid encounter. Between that and his desire to visit the corpse of a fallen leader and the leader of the walking corpses, I'm beginning to worry about that kid. Right then! With Children's Week comes some dreaded achievements, and all of this in the midst of 4.1's two new instances and addon bugs. Luckily, we've got some posts from around the blogosphere that chat about all of these things: Restokin wonders if the newly revamped Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman missed the mark. In the wake of 4.1, The Bossy Pally ponders the potential coolness of 5-mans that feel like raids. Orcish Army Knife thinks about how he'd change the School of Hard Knocks achievement. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I finally got around to making a jaunt into Old Ironforge the other day -- I'd been down there before, once upon a time in vanilla, but it was so many years ago that I had the vaguest of impressions of what might have been there. As of patch 4.1, there for all to see is a scene straight out of The Shattering, the novel by Christie Golden that explains exactly why Magni is standing there frozen in place. Now I'm trying to remember if anything in the novels has been so directly copied over to the in-game world -- there's the whole Caverns of Time: Durnholde Keep instance, but that's not really a direct copy. I can't think of anything, off hand. Anyway, today we've got some various impressions of WoW, from patch 4.1 all the way to King Magni. Spellbound has a flurry of first impressions for 4.1, from destro warlocks all the way to the two new dungeons. Tank Out of Water ponders Fandral and the development of the various races of Warcraft. Troll Racials are Overpowered suggests the possibility of a solo-friendly MMO. Stouthammer Lite has a really interesting in-character look through the eyes of a dwarf seeing King Magni for the first time and briefly mentions the history behind Old Ironforge. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Djhendu would have been far more impressed with patch 4.1 and its contents were he not forced by his two companions to put on the very silly hat. They reassured him that it was a sign of great honor for him to receive it; they explained that only the very best warriors get to wear the ceremonial headdress of the ancestors. He probably would have bought that explanation, too, had they not followed it up with begging him to repeat the phrase "Why so serious?" ad nauseum while they cackled like a couple of hyenas. So 4.1 is here! We've got some posts from around the blogosphere pertaining to the delights and wonders from the patch of delicious trollish content. DoTs and 'Locks has helpful boss strategies for both new heroics, Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman. Type "H" for Heals serves up a not-so-short guide for discipline priests in 4.1. A Sunnier Bear has a to-do list for feral druids, along with a list of tanking changes for everyone. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Nearly two and a half years after Wrath of the Lich King's launch, nearly five months after the launch of Cataclysm, and a full drop and regrind to revered reputation, the Oracles still haven't deemed me worthy enough of an egg with a Green Protodrake in it. It's enough to drive anyone to violence, but I've avoided punching any big-tongues for fear of wrecking my rep again. Fortunately, if I really want to punch things, I can simply go PvP and take my aggression out on random Alliance players. Speaking of PvP, today we've got a couple posts from the blogosphere on that subject, as well as a couple of bits of Friday fun. Tank Out of Water ponders the problem of the Justicar and Conqueror grinds. Cynwise's Battlefield Manual has a gigantic post on PvP currency conversion in patch 4.1. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Healing has never been incredibly easy -- it's not the process, it's the fact that the lives of everyone in your group or raid rest on your shoulders and the shoulders of everyone else on the healing team. Raiding is an exercise in working with other people, and sometimes that's not quite as easy as you'd think, either. Today we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere with some helpful tips for both raiding and healing. Cannot Be Tamed discusses healing the Chimaeron fight in Blackwing Descent on heroic mode. Type "H" for Heals has a handy fix for priests who are sick of Penance automatically turning their camera. Restokin features a guest post that talks about the struggles of raiding with high latency.
