  • WoW Moviewatch: Garrosh

What do you get when you mix World of Warcraft and Disney? Sheer madness, and the above video from SilverLetomi entitled Garrosh. Letomi is already well known for her singing, but here she manages to pull off something I never thought I'd hear and do a perfectly pleasing rendition of a goblin singing an ode of devotion to everyone's favorite Warchief. Well, the goblin's favorite Warchief. The Kor'kron's favorite Warchief? Look, someone had to have liked him at some point, right? Featuring a machinima created by Khayllys, Garrosh does a fine job pulling off a parody of one of my favorite Disney films with a Warcraft twist. The song and the Warchief fit together disturbingly well, which has me wondering what on earth took so long for someone to do it? Give it a watch, you won't be disappointed. And who knows, you might just have another dozen reasons to punch the Warchief in the face next reset. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: Burning Crusade The Movie

Let me tell you about this guy named Jack. Jack makes some of the absolute best movie compilations of kill videos that I have ever seen, and probably ever will see. The pinnacle for me was always the movie shown above, simply titled Burning Crusade The Movie. It's not just about the stunning visuals, it's also about the clever use of in-game sound files from various NPCs in order to tell the tale. It's a long video, but it's well worth watching -- not only for the nostalgia factor, but because it has gotten me even more ridiculously excited to see Warlords of Draenor and a return to an Outland that isn't really Outland at all. Jack has done a crazy amount of WoW movies over the years. You can check out his Youtube channel for movies dating all the way back to the original vanilla 40-player version of Naxxramas. Sadly, we haven't seen any Mists-related content from Jack, and I don't know if we will at this point. But Burning Crusade The Movie remains one of my favorite kill-compilation videos to date, and it's always worth a re-watch.

Every wondered what's going through that raid boss's mind? I mean, here's a pack of Alliance or Horde heroes who comes storming into your bedroom, shouting and screaming and generally making a mess of things. It's no wonder the odd raid boss gets cranky about the whole thing. After all, what was Marrowgar doing that was so bad? He was standing there. Chilling. Well, Slightly Impressive is giving a voice to the unheard in The Raid Boss. As a bonus, it features the cutest raid boss to ever murglglglgle. Perhaps Garrosh will learn a little something. This We Will Defend is a new guild video by the Tauren Marines, featuring their very own "Avengers Assemble!" moment. It reminds me a lot of the opening to Slashdance vs Ulduar, that isn't completely a fair comparison. This We Will Defend definitely has the right feel and you get the sense of these folks' incredible pride in their faction. Since the video was made from in-game footage, the rough spots in animation are easily forgiveable; this kind of excitement and joy in the game is the point of fan films. Great job, and go hoof some butt! Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? And now for something radically different and incredibly awesome. Created as a project of passion by Hugh Hancock - one of the pioneers of machinima -- using Avatar-style motion capture, featuring voice acting by Hollywood actors, Death Knight Love Story is probably one of the most epic fan films every conceived. The video runs about 20 minutes long, and it's the only first installment. The voice acting is superb, of course, but the imagination and story itself are both remarkable. Make sure you schedule some time to watch it; this is the machinima folks will be talking about for a while. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Mooclucking put forth the effort to characterize the essential love changes to the game brings out in the playerbase. I know when I hear some troubling news, I immediately throw my computer down the mountainside. I then bury my game discs in a shallow grave, and carefully salt the earth around it so that nothing can grow. Or, maybe, I take some time to chill out and see what the game will actually be like. You know, one of those two things. That's because I keep my emotions Grounded in reality. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Did you somehow manage to miss an expire expansion? If so, don't worry about it. Wowcrendor will get you caught up to speed with Mists of Pandaria in a Minute. It's a little like vicious satire of the game or a vicious satire of the players or maybe just a hilarious look at the last year of WoW. Frankly, you need to watch this video just for the sake of the Blingtron Rap. That's the moment we've all been waiting for. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Killer Cookie's back with a music video, filled with gorgeous animation, creative text artistry, and plenty of dancing elves. I'll admit that I wasn't familiar with the song, so I had no idea what I was getting into. At first, I was dreading another dancing elf video. Which, I suppose to be fair, Hello Heartache certainly is. But we don't see that kind of thing as often these days and Killer Cookie provided so much care, detail, and vision to the video that I don't mind. The only drawback to the video is that I think the story could have been telegraphed a little more clearly. The narrative is certainly there, but I still found myself wanting more. The video is so beautiful that I just wanted more. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • WoW Moviewatch: Lore According to Garrosh

We all know that Garrosh has a trial going, even if someone's going to let the ex-warchief somehow slip through their fingers. But every story has two sides, and you'll be shocked when you view the Lore According to Garrosh. I loved the trial format of this video, which is a perfect setup for some one-liners and amusing anecdotes. Slightly Impressive's animation and vocal guns have really focused over the years, and I'm constantly more than just slightly impressed by the produce. Bonus points for using old models in flashbacks; that feels incredibly appropriate to us old timers. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We all know the explosion of Theramore was quite a tragic event. But somehow it's never been really captured in machinima. Master Vertex used the opportunity to illustrate some of the most common errors in machinima, as well as poking a little fun at Jaina. C'mon, if you can't laugh at the obliteration of Theramore, what can you laugh at? Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! This video was recommended by MasterVertex. And while we both did a little research, I'm afraid I'm not schooled enough in the native language to be able to find out much about the source. But this video is so mindblowing (and the music pretty good), that we couldn't avoid a feature. Seriously, just check these graphics out. Absolutely amazing. Some stories are simple and beautiful enough that they barely need words. Told with a laconic, thoughtful pace, Family relates the heartwarming love of an unlikely adoption. You don't see many machinima like this. Not only is the animation pleasing and convincing (even if baby elves are a little creepy), but the entire piece is told with so much soul and reality that you almost wonder if something in real life inspired it. As Nixxiom said when he suggested this movie, this is a video that hits you "right in the feels." It's an incredibly well done piece, and probably one of the best I've ever seen. • WoW Moviewatch: How To Be Annoying in World of Warcraft

Work Warning: There's some mild cursing in here, but nothing terribly crazy. I don't know that we needed a guide on How To Be Annoying in World of Warcraft, but Kakio apparently thought we did. This video really boils down to about 5 minutes of various pet peeves throughout the game. The video had a viable premise and the technical skills were fine, but I'm not sure it ever really hit its pace. The sound quality kept most of the jokes from shining, even if the punchline would have been otherwise funny. In terms of stepping up the game, I think Kakio would need to focus on that sound quality issue and maybe tightening up the plot. Satirical videos like this one do best with short, to-the-point punchlines. The longer the video drags on, the more burden is placed on each joke. Like I said, it's a decent video, but it doesn't quite knock it out the park. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • WoW Moviewatch: You Tank It

Silver Letomi, one of the many people who put together truly epic WoW parody songs, has returned with this remake of Britney Spears' Toxic, transformed into an upbeat ditty about the perils of pulling ahead as a DPS. Iodine11 is to be credited for the lyrics, which are pretty great -- they're often where parody videos fall down for me. And of course, Letomi is the one doing the singing, and doing a fantastic job of it, as ever. It is, of course, highly possible that the reason why I like this parody so much is that I've just levelled a warrior from 15-89 entirely by tanking dungeons, so have yet again been reminded how much I hate it when people pull things before me! A Brief History of WoW: Mists of Pandaria 2 continues the story of the latest expansion, as summarized by Slightly Impressive. It's actually a pretty good summary of MoP, if you weren't able to follow the story for some reason. I was impressed by how non-partisan Griff's explanation ended up being, even if Garrosh's escape got pinned on the pandas. This is a completely fair characterization of Jaina, though, and exactly the woman we've all come to know and love. Interested in the wide world of machinima? The master of comedic commentary is back with What Are NPCs Thinking 4. It's a few minutes of hilarious interpretation of some of WoW's most iconic characters. Not the big ones like kings and war chiefs. No, this is that smug, self-satisfied snake statue or that clever auction goblin. This is probably my favorite Wowcrendor series; I don't think they get old. I've always wondered what those ogres had in mind with their peculiar standing places. That's just not safe behavior. Ogres aren't the smarter critters in Azeroth, but you would think some basic self-preservation instinct might take over. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Psymehteus leaves me at a loss for words. This is some of the most compelling and interesting graphics work we've seen for a while. And while the Pacific Rim style references could be tough to see, that air drop at the beginning calls it out fairly cleanly. Don't get obsessed with the story. This is about the Alliance kicking some tail (with maybe the help of a giant robot thing.) Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! • WoW Moviewatch: Here Without You

This is the song that launched a thousand fanfics, but there's good reason for that: it's one heck of a moody song. My family is healthy and hale, and even I would sit on my porch, listening to this song, and stoically sipping harsh whiskey while letting a single, iconic tear slide own my face. That being said, Celine Meow put together a fairly solid music video around Here Without You. It looks good. I get the story. The effects are pretty effective and the animation smooth. Visually, there's not much to complain about. That being said, I'd tackle the dialogue editing a little harder, maybe fix up the font a bit. The rest of the music video is good enough that the poor grammar, troubled spelling, and disconcerting font take away from the overall effect. This was a solid video, nonetheless, that I enjoyed seeing. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! This is a different view of yesterday's World of Warcraft Medley. This one busted out a violin for some mad string action. It's really hard to put into words how talented these folks are. It's a riveting, breathtaking medley of our game's iconic music and they captured the spirit wonderfully. So if you like it, make sure you swing by the channel and share your love. In a breathtaking display of musical skill and outstanding vocals, Peter Hollens knocked this World of Warcraft Medley out of the park. Even if it weren't for our incredible loyalty to Azeroth, I'm pretty sure we'd find the piece absolutely riveting. The makeup and stark, somber expressions do a lot to buttress the epic feel of this video. While it's difficult to critique acting in this kind of performance, I feel both male and female roles were executed marvelously. Really, this whole thing was just astounding.
