Users of the World of Warcraft Remote subscription service just got some interesting news today. Apparently, WoW Remote features, including the mobile auction house and guild chat, have been made available to all players for free starting today. Remote services still require a capable smartphone, of course, so if you're still using that old Nokia brick, it may be time to upgrade. Now that these features are being made free, I wonder if this means new premium features are in the works? What do you think -- mobile pet battles? Update: Blizzard has released the formal announcement on the official World of Warcraft community site. Players who had previously been paying for a WoW Remote subscription are also reporting that they received thank you emails from Blizzard, along with 7 free days of game time for their active WoW accounts, and a Lil' XT non-combat pet to keep or give to a friend.

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Gold Capped, in which Basil "Euripides" Berntsen and Fox Van Allen aim to show you how to make money on the Auction House. Email Basil with your questions, comments, or hate mail! The WoW Remote, or Mobile Auction House, has been upgraded. Here are the new features that have been announced: -Automatic price undercutting: Set the default buyout price of your auctions to match or undercut the current lowest buyout price for an item -Aggregated buyout search results: Multiple auctions posted at the same buyout price can now be viewed as a single group -Support for the following Guild features: Level, Perks, Rewards, Achievements, News, Events, and MotD -Realm Status -Search now suggests terms based on previous searches and matching items -Talent Calculator -Various bug fixes source While some of the features are available to everyone, whether they pay the $36 a year mobility fee or not, most of this concerns auctioneers. There are a bunch of welcome and much-needed changes and bug fixes in this patch -- so many, in fact, that it's left the vanilla (unmodified) Auction House so far behind that it's actually eating the in-game Auction House's dust as it laps it.

If you're hopelessly addicted to guild chat -- and you've got an iPhone or iPod Touch -- Blizzard has a new app designed to make sure you never miss another moment of drama. A new remote guild chat feature has been added to the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app, and players are now able to chat and send whispers via their Apple mobile device. You'll pay $2.99 per month for the privilege, and the WoW remote subscription also grants you access to the game's auction house functionality while you're on the move. Blizzard is demoing the service -- and waiving fees -- for a limited time, during which the guild chat feature will be enabled on select servers (currently Fizzcrank and Lightbringer). More details are available at the official announcement page. There's no official word on an Android version, though ZAM reports that it "should be released soon."

Blizzard has posted new information regarding the latest addition to the World of Warcraft Remote service. Using their iPhone, iPod or Android device players will soon be able to access guild chat, officer chat, and send whispers to guild members without even having to step a virtual foot into the game. This comes on top of the app's ability to access the action house from your mobile device already. Keeping tabs with your guild can be a huge asset, especially for the larger guilds out there. While the AH feature has already been a hit with players, this new addition holds a lot of great potential. Running late for a raid? Just log right into guild chat and keep everyone up to date on your status. The feature will also provide access to viewing and responding to calendar events as well. The offical statement on the matter posted in the WoW community blog can be viewed after the break. %Gallery-120566%

The World of Warcraft Armory is now beta testing a long-awaited feature for the iPhone and iPod touch -- the remote auction house. During the beta test, all features -- including premium features like buying and selling items and collecting gold are available for testing and free to use. After the beta test ends, a subscription to World of Warcraft Remote will be required to access these features -- for now though, it's all free. Check out the full F.A.Q on the auction house system, and download the tool for testing from the Armory website. If you do not have an iPhone or iPod touch, the web version of the Remote Auction House is also in beta testing -- players with characters on the servers available for testing can access the Auction House for their realm via the Armory website. The full list of servers available for beta testing is after the break. Update: A gallery for the web feature has been added. %Gallery-93251% %Gallery-93255%
