  • Whopping Wii remote comic

We played the "What if?" game with our friends a lot during our younger years. Our school playground was a montessori arena for cartwheels and slow motion kicks as we acted out, "What if we were Power Rangers?" Tired from our recess shenanigans, we would brood over notes we passed in class, wondering, "What if it rained candy? Seriously, wouldn't that be rad?" We eventually put the childish pastime behind us, realizing that it wasn't appropriate to ask our best friends, "What if I was a guy who wanted to date your sister?"Buzz Beamer from Sports Illustrated Kids hasn't given up on the "What if?" game yet. In the magazine's latest comic, Buzz ruminates over the possibilities of an over-sized Wii remote. He comes up with some entertaining ideas like Virtual Log Riding and Tossing the Caber. Our favorite is the one where he has a "realistic" wrestling match with the giant remote. That's way cooler than the Hulk Hogan pillow we used to grapple with when we were kids!

  • WWE star Kane professes love of PSP

WWE wrestling superstar Kane loves the PSP ... and so should you. When traveling on his cross-country flights, the celebrity can be often seen playing a match of WWE Smackdown on Sony's portable. "The PSP is a pretty popular system because it doesn't take up a lot of room," said Kane. "It has the Wi-Fi connections so the guys can play each other. We've had some long trips overseas and the guys will actually get some games going on the PSPs. One of the best time-passes I've ever had on a transatlantic flight was a three-way tables, ladders and chairs match with me playing as myself and then the other two guys were playing as Shelton Benjamin and the 80s Hulk Hogan. We had like an hour-long match. With the portability, you don't lose much in gameplay and graphics because it's such an awesome little machine."The wrestler admits that he has a bias for wrestling games, but that's not all he likes in the PSP library. "I've played the PSP version of the game and it's probably the best game on the PSP, and that's saying a lot because the PSP has a lot of good games on it," he notes. You could choose to disagree with him, but then, he'd probably just kill you.[Via Yahoo!]

  • New Virtual Console games on the horizon [update 1]

Yes, the U.S. Virtual Console launch line-up is a bit ... anemic. We know, it hurts. However, one has to consider why it doesn't really matter: 1) We'll all be too busy playing Twilight Princess to bother with the Virtual Console immediately, and 2) Nintendo has promised ten new Virtual Console releases per month. That's quite a bit, especially looking at how often Xbox Live Arcade is updated, but the question then becomes: what's on the horizon?Well, thanks to the ESRB, we've got a clue. The ESRB requires that games be rated before release, which obviously means that companies need to send in their product quite a bit in advance. Since they publish their ratings, we've managed to score a list of eight potentials, and quite an eight they are (all rated E for Everyone): Duck Hunt Hogan's Alley Kid Icarus Kirby's Adventure PilotWings Pro Wrestling Punch-Out Wild Gunman Kid Icarus, Duck Hunt, and Punch-Out? Holy hell. The Virtual Console is awesome.[via Joystiq][Thanks, Zeke!][Update 1: Legal issues?]

If you just so happen to be in the market for a new PSP, you might be interested to know that you can currently get a free $20 game with the purchase of a Core PSP at Meijer stores.I'm not totally sure how Meijer prices its non-Greatest Hits games, so you may or may not have to choose from the Greatest Hits library. But if you're looking for some wrestling action and have plenty of time on your hands, WWE Smackdown 2006 was just recently dubbed a Greatest Hit.You better hurry, because this deal is only good until Nov. 18.[Via Cheapassgamer - Registration required]

It only feels like yesterday when we were making fun of WWE Smackdown (it was, in fact, two days ago). So, maybe, we'll be a little bit nicer this time. A new year means the developers have a chance to get things right. Get rid of the load times. GamesRadar has been nice enough to grab all the wrestler intro videos from the upcoming Smackdown game, and convert it into iPod PSP format. Simply download their files, and dump it into your 2.80 PSP's VIDEO folder. The new year of Smackdown hits stores November 1st.

  • WWE to get even more realistic thanks to high-def

The World Wresting Entertainment is about to get right in your face thanks to high-def programming. They have been trying to launch a high-def service for sometime now according to WestleMag.com and should launch tests real soon. There isn't a firm launch date yet but we can't wait to see those body drops and flying elbows. They look so real in standard definition that we are sure they will look great when the resolution is doubled. This new high-def programming should be available via their new On-Demand service and on their normal shows.

  • In defense of Rumble Roses XX

Is it just me, or does Alex Navarro's joyless video review of Rumble Roses XX (6.6 out of 10) sound like it was delivered with the knowledge that his Mom would be tuning in:It creates the same unseemly vibe as [the previous PS2 game]. The girls in the game are very much objects of affection. They don't have any personality to speak of. They don't say much...They're there to dance for you, to shake their asses, to jiggle their chests in front of you and they've gone so far in this game to let you dress them up in outfits and have them pose in sexy ways and take photos of them and trade them with people online. It's gone to that next level of softcore porn where, you know, adolescent boys, they're gonna love it, but if the whole idea of dressing up polygonal women and having them jiggle their parts in front of you makes you at all uncomfortable, you're gonna hate this game.Oy, next he'll start complaining about the booth babes at E3.If I want to be told that dressing up digital dolls in schoolgirl outfits and forcing them to do jumping jacks is "unseemly,"  there are plenty of sources I can turn to for that sentiment. Like say, every woman on the planet. This review is sort of like listening to your girlfriend whine about the lack of plot in Buttman Goes to Rio. Gameplay issues aside, I think the developers accomplished exactly what they set out to do with RRXX: create a fetish-friendly female wrestling title with great graphics that oozes sex appeal and bizarre Japanese kink. Give them some credit for staying true to that vision. And if somebody tells you you're a perv for getting your sick thrills from a pixelated girl in a leather thong, remind them that staring at John Cena's perfectly rendered nipples as he crotch locks a sweaty Rey Mysterio isn't an improvement—at least if you're straight.

I'll never forget the look of disgust on my wife's face as I sat on the couch playing DOA Beach Volleyball. I got the exact same look when I showed her the latest screenshots from Konami's soft porn wrestling extravaganza, Rumble Roses XX. The first Rumble Roses game on PS2 got middling reviews, but the the hands-on previews from IGN and TeamXbox report that the sequel is packing beefed up wrestling gameplay and plenty of next-gen T&A. Could be worth a purchase in the Spring, depending on your lack of shame.

After being pulled from Japanese shelves at the last minute, Japanese wrestling game Wrestle Kingdom will make its triumphant return to shelves January 19th. If any gamers were lucky (unlucky?) enough to get a buggy copy off store shelves, they will be able to exchange it for the updated version.

Microsoft were hoping to finally make a splash in Japan with wrestling title Wrestle Kingdom, due for release today. Unfortunately, it had to be withdrawn at the last minute due to a bug involving the hard drive--problems detecting the amount of free space meant that game saves weren't working properly. There's no ETA on the game's launch as of yet. Since some games launched with save game problems, maybe this is a general problem with the 360, or maybe some developers are less diligent than others.
