So what's it gonna be this week? A strictly multiplayer first-person shooter or a strictly single-player third-person laugher? On the one hand there is Blacklight: Tango Down, an FPS that promises extensive customization player progression. On the other is Monkey Island 2: Special Edition, which comes packed with a new adventure for Guybrush Threepwood and, of course, yuks. We've got a spiritual sequel and an actual sequel this week. The former is Ancients of Ooga, a successor of sorts to the ancient XBLA title, Cloning Clyde. The latter is Puzzle Quest 2, which essentially amounts to an apology about that whole Galactrix thing. Check out XBLA in Brief and see if either game is for you. We've got two Xbox Live Arcade staples this week. First is Metal Slug XX, which has the advantage of Xbox Live online play over its XBLA cousin, Metal Slug 3. Two very different games on Xbox Live Arcade this week, folks. First up, we have RayStorm HD a revamp of the classic arcade, PlayStation and Saturn shooter of yore. If you've played a shmup before, you'll be right at home. The other game, however, is an odd, odd duck. Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition is a first-person brawler with shooting elements and one of the most bizarre, surreal art styles on XBLA. If nothing else, you should download it just to see it. We've got two wildly disparate games on Xbox Live Arcade this week. For the puzzle game / RPG hybrid fans, there's Puzzle Chronicles, essentially a different take on Puzzle Quest (which makes sense, as both were developed by Infinite Interactive). If you're more of an action bent, then After Burner Climax will be right up your alley. So, what's it going to be, saving the kingdom one rotating gem at a time or blasting bogeys from the sky? Chances are you already know whether or not you'll purchase Mega Man 10. For retro gaming junkies -- particularly those who love punishment -- it's pretty much a no-brainer. On the other hand, those that enjoy the simple mechanics but not the bone-crushing difficulty might have a harder time pulling the trigger. Thankfully, that choice is a little easier this time around than it was for Mega Man 9. Unlike its 2008 predecessor, Mega Man 10 possesses an Easy mode. While it may not take all the challenge out of the game, it definitely seems to lighten things up a bit. Watch the latest XBLA in Brief and see if the Blue Bomber's latest adventure is for you.
