It's an XBLA double puzzler this week with both Puzzle Quest Galactrix and Flock! landing on Microsoft's download service. Galactrix is a traditional puzzle game laced with the trappings of an RPG, while Flock! is more of a logic-based affair that has players herding animals into a spaceship. Both seem to be decent games and both will cost you significant scratch, with Galactrix costing $20 and Flock! clocking in at $15.Watch the latest episode of XBLA in Brief and see if either one piques your interest.Download the trial version of Puzzle Quest GalactrixDownload the trial version of Flock![iTunes] Subscribe to X3F TV directly in iTunes.[Zune] Subscribe to the X3F TV directly (Zune Marketplace link coming soon).[RSS] Add the X3F TV feed to your RSS aggregator and have the show delivered automatically.[M4V] Download the M4V directly.

This week on XBLA in Brief, we look at UNO RUSH, a speedy new take on the classic card game. Players have to adjust their hands quickly and play as many cards as possible on every turn. It sounds easy, but each turn is only a few seconds long, meaning you have to plan ahead. Check out the video above and see if UNO RUSH will be pulling 800 from your account. The shortest, easiest way to say it: Hasbro Family Game Night lets you play Hasbro board games on your TV. There's not much more to say, really. Oh, each game will cost you 800. Before the anger starts flowing, you should know that most of these games cost more in the real world. This week, 360 fans get both Crystal Defenders and Peggle. As luck would have it, both games are actually pretty good. Two good games in one week? What have we done to deserve this? Of course, they aren't free -- they're 800 each. Still, they're both worth at least trying. Check out the latest episode of XBLA in Brief and see if either one is for you. If you haven't already read Joystiq's review of Watchmen: The End is Nigh, you really should. If you have read it and you still have the masochistic desire to learn more, allow us to direct you to the latest installment of XBLA in Brief. Unfortunately, the game just isn't all that great. Of course, we expect that from licensed games, and we might even be willing to forgive it, but the $20 price tag makes The End is Nigh difficult to recommend. Don't take our word for it, though. This week, XBLA in Brief takes a look at Exit 2. In short, it's a lot like the original Exit. In short, Exit 2 isn't especially EXciting, if you get our drift. It's not bad, per se. In fact, some people will probably love it, but we imagine a lot of gamers will be put off by its slow pacing. Check out our thoughts on the trial version in the video above. Apart from the fact that it's missing the original theme song -- which was the best ever, FYI -- the XBLA version of Death Tank is the same Death Tank we know and love. Of course, not everyone is familiar with the original Saturn game (which could only be unlocked as a mini-game in Powerslave or Duke Nukem 3D). This week, XBLA in Brief takes a look at 3 on 3 NHL Arcade and the (sort of) surprise release, Minesweeper Flags. This week on XBLA in Brief, we take a look at R-Type Dimensions, a new compilation of R-Type and R-Type 2 in one fancy Arcade package. You want 2D graphics? You got 'em. Remixed 3D graphics? Those are in there too. Crazy 2D and 3D camera options? Oh yeah. About the only thing it doesn't have is an attractive price: It's 1200 points. It's not often that we get to take a trip to FunTown, so we were thrilled at the prospect when FunTown Mahjong released on Xbox Live Arcade this week. To put it bluntly, our excitement was not warranted. Dull presentation and hilariously bad translation make this game entertaining enough, but for all the wrong reasons. Watch the latest episode of XBLA in Brief for our impressions of the trial version.

Let's face it, 2008's XBLA lineup did not go out with a bang. One week later, the first XBLA title brings in the new year with about the same level of excitement. Yes, Interpol brings all the excitement of hidden item searching to Xbox Live Arcade. We're not exactly sure we were really craving it in the first place, but it's here now whether we like it or not. The last XBLA game we will receive in 2008 is Merv Griffin's Crosswords. We're not exactly sure what to make of that, honestly. Hopefully, you can figure out what to make of it by watching our latest installment of XBLA in Brief. This week on XBLA in Brief, we take Dash of Destruction for a spin. As you've no doubt heard by now, Dash of Destruction is available for free on Xbox Live Arcade. The reason: it's a sponsored game that was primarily created to help sell Doritos. No seriously, you can see the word Doritos right there on the title screen. On the other, we have a new multi-directional shooter by the name of PowerUp Forever. Find out if either one is for you by watching the latest episode of XBLA in Brief above. We also have a brand new feature this week. Below you will find the Xbox Live Marketplace links to the trial versions of each game. We know what you're thinking. A bear? Teamed up with a bird? It sounds insane, we know. Somehow, though, somehow it works. Joining a bear with a bird seemingly creates the perfect platforming duo. Honestly though, is any stranger than an Italian plumber taking out his wrath on sadistic, sentient mushrooms? Now a bear riding a plumber, that would be weird. Find out why the bear / bird combo works very well in the latest episode of XBLA in Brief, in which we take a look at Banjo Kazooie.
