  • Free and Premium MLG content on XBLM

Xbox Live Marketplace has a couple of videos and a Gamer picture pack from MLG, or Major League Gaming. The pack costs 80 MS Points and the videos are free. One video is sort of an introduction into the world of competitive gaming, while the other sort follows around one of the top tier players, Walshy, and is a lot meatier than the former. The video follows him around and gives insight into the life of a "professional gamer", and does a good job of representing those who compete. To say the least, he makes a bunch of really cool t-shirt designs. Definitely worth a watch, if you're interested in seeing what MLG is all about.

  • SEGA hopeful for Rally Revo demo

Speaking to Eurogamer, Guy Wilday, the head of SEGA Racing Studio, claimed that he'd like to see a pre-release demo of their upcoming title, SEGA Rally Revo, which is set to debut in September. Wilday noted that the team will "look to do potentially 360 and PS3 downloadable demos before release." Not exactly the most concrete of promises, but we'll take what we can get. Wilday further comments that the challenge of creating demos comes from balancing how much of the game one is allowed to play. As Wilday puts it, "We want people to get the experience of the game without giving the game away." Whatever the team decides to do, finishing touches are still being put on the game proper, so the demo will have to wait. With two major racing titles -- Forza 2 and DiRT -- just released for the 360, are you considering SEGA Rally Revo?

The (United States exclusive) Xbox Live Video Marketplace is flourishing with stacks and stacks of movies being released each week. And, as expected, this week didn't let us down with over twenty new movies and a handful of TV shows added to the list. Big exciting HD movies like Letters From Iwo Jima, Good German, and Undead. Okay, we haven't heard of all the exciting new movies, but they're in HD so we love 'em all the same. Complete list of new Video Marketplace content is posted after the break including TV offerings. Now only if we could find some extra Microsoft points laying around so we could rent Dr. T and the Woman to see what that's all about.

  • The Darkness demo playable in a few weeks

In The Darkness game's latest MySpace blog update, Lord Sonatine talks about the demo being delayed and that it is still coming, albeit a few weeks late. The blog confirms that the demo will be headed to Microsoft certification sometime this week and go through the two plus week process of getting approved. So, we'll have to be a patient bunch. Lord Sonatine also reiterated that The Darkness demo wasn't intentionally held back like some conspiracy theorists have expressed and that the real reason for the delay was because the retail version was at "risk of being late and missing the release date by a week or two. So we pulled people off the demo to work on the game". See, it's as simple as that.[Thanks, Ben Furneaux]

We always knew that teleportations are accompanied by a BAMF! sound effect -- caused by the rushing of air into the newly created vacuum. What we didn't know, however, was that teleportation is also accompanied by the hearty smell of bacon. At least, that's what the newest episode of 1-800-Magic tells us. Episode 2, cleverly subtitled "The Second Episode," is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Of course, it's been available online for a week, but we likes our "high resmolutions."So, what do you think of this new series from the creators of Red Vs. Blue?

  • Surf''s Up demo up on the XBLM, dude

Today's demo fun features surfing, penguins, and an occasional belly laugh. That's right, the Surf's Up demo hit the XBLM this morning and is the official game of the movie by the same name. We have yet to get our mitts on this surfing adventure, but we hear Matthew McConaughey gives it a thumbs up. Even though he'd give a thumbs up to anything that involves surfing, but we digress. Anyway, it's available for download in the US, Canada, and Mexico and (cross your fingers) should be better than that green ogre's pitiful game ... yeh, we called you out Shrek.

Perhaps you find yourself in the unenviable position of wanting the new Command & Conquer 3 maps but not knowing if they're worth the money. Lucky for you, EA has released a free video on Xbox Live Marketplace detailing all of the new maps. The video is narrated by one of C&C3's developers, who gives you the scoop on each map, noting where the tiberium is and where most of the action will take place. Each map gets a fairly thorough overview, so the video should serve as a decent way to gauge whether or not the maps are worth 500 MS points.Have you downloaded the maps yet? What do you think?

It's another beautiful Summer day featuring free TV episodes and a music download off the Xbox Live Video Marketplace. Just what exactly is free this week? Well, let's pull out our shovels and dig through the Marketplace to find out. Free for download is the premiere episode of Comedy Central's new series "Lil' Bush" as well as episodes one and two of CBS's "Clark and Michael". Also, if we would have mentioned this earlier, LOGO's "Curl Girls" premiere episode was free, but just became paid content and is now 160 Microsoft points. Sorry about that. But there is a newish music video available for download from Ankle Injuries as part of the Zune Ignition sponsorship. That's about it for free downloads today, so fire up the Marketplace and find your free download treasure matey. Ahoy!

Capcom just announced a third map pack for Lost Planet today featuring three spiffy new maps. Map Pack #3 will be available for download off the Marketplace next Thursday, June 21st costing a mere 400 Microsoft points and will include the three maps Ice Drop, Ruins, and Lost Technology. Those are the details, now onto the media! Check out the Lost Planet Map Pack #3 gallery below featuring screenshots from the new maps as well as fly through videos embedded after the break. And what's up with the Lost Technology map? It's so 8-bit, it's very LEGO'esque, and is crazy in a fun over the top kind of way. Take a look and judge it yourself.%Gallery-4014%

  • Soltrio Solitaire DLC flies under radar

New game content is available for the Xbox Live Arcade card game, Soltrio Solitaire. It adds 10 new game modes for the low price of 150 MS Points. Considering the game started out with 18 modes of play at 800 Microsoft Points, that's a pretty dang good price. Then again, you have to remember that it is Solitaire, which may not exactly be up your alley. Either way, the content is there and reasonably priced if you're interested.

We knew Microsoft would keep their word as new Video Marketplace content arrives this week. So, let's get to it. Anime fans will be happy to know that a massive amount of anime will be purchasable this week totaling fourteen different shows including Trinity Blood, Guyver and Last Exile. Not only that, but various National Geographic content will be up (SD only) as well as HD movie rentals including The Fountain and Dreamgirls. Take a look at the complete list of this week's new Video Marketplace content posted after the break and see if you can find something that makes you happy.

  • Shadowrun strategy videos will cost you

    06.13.2007

Available for purchase off the Marketplace are four brand spanking new Shadowrun video strategy guides that'll teach you sniping locations, teleporting lines and the quickest way to get to the artifact in each map. Very useful information indeed. But the negative cloud surrounding these downloads is that they cost 100 Microsoft points apiece. We're sure these Shadowrun videos showcase only the most special and uber elite strategies, what we call the metaphorical prime cut of the strategic cow, but can't bring ourselves to plop down the cash to find out. Now that we think of it, this content smells eerily similar to those COG tag location videos. Overpriced and, with a quick Googling, completely unnecessary.

Xbox Live Marketplace has two new multiplayer maps available for Monster Madness, both costing 200 Microsoft points individually. The first is a 4v4 Capture the Flag level called Zack's House, and is a close quarters indoor map. The second map is called High School and is fit for 16 players, and has opportunities for vehicular combat outside, with close quarters action inside. Does this float anyone's boat, and do you think the 200 MS points is a fair price for each map?

You may recall the German Kane & Lynch: Dead Men trailer we posted yesterday. If you happen to speak English, then we have good news for you, the trailer has been released (in English) on Xbox Live Marketplace (it's also embedded at the top of this post, because we love you). Yes, now you can enjoy the trailer in both English and high definition goodness. The trailer focuses on Lynch, the long-haired, heavily medicated psycho. We've been intrigued by Kane & Lynch ever since we first laid eyes on it, so here's hoping there are more details coming our way.Note: This trailer contains loads of blood, guts, and foul language. Definitely NSFW.

With CMT just making its way onto the Marketplace and new seasons of our favorite TV shows kicking off, the television studios are feeling a little generous. Free for download off the XBLM is the season three premiere of "Criss Angel Mindfreak", the season three premiere of MTV's "Yo Momma", and the premiere of "Foxworthy's Big Night Out". Again, all episodes are free to download, so make some room on your 360's HDD and give 'em a watch. We know we will, because we love free Marketplace content more than our pet salamander*. And that's no lie**.*We don't actually have a pet salamander.**So, technically, we just lied.[Thanks, xImmortal007x]

After a bunch of demos hit Marketplace over the last three days (some more important than others), new ones still keep showing up. Today's offering so far is Overlord, which recently had a few videos pop up on the intertubes, and follows through on our plea. You may want to watch those before committing the 891.78 MB of space for the content, although some of you may already be convinced. So, are you enjoying this influx of interactive content, or do you not have the time to play these demos anyway?

    06.08.2007

The first episode of the Shadowrun machinima by Rooster Teeth Productions that we showed you yesterday, 1-800-Magic, is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. As you may have saw, the production values are rather high, but that's to be expected from the RvB crew. The video weighs in at 227.59 MB, which shouldn't take too long, and getting a higher resolution version to appreciate the finer details of their work is never a bad thing. If the series was regularly added to Marketplace, and continue to be free, would you follow it on XBLM?

  • Tenchu Z demo sneaks onto XBLM

From high atop his Xbox Live throne, Major Nelson has sent word that the single player Tenchu Z demo is now available for download off the XBLM. Yes, we've been quite critical of the game and what is has to offer on both the gameplay and graphics side of the coin, but we're thinking you should give the demo a chance. You know, that is if you are an avid supporter of the Ninjas camp. We don't recommend going anywhere near this demo if you've sided with the Pirates. So, download at your own risk and be sure to tell us what you thought.

  • Vampire Rain demo available in Canada & Mexico, not U.S.

    06.07.2007

The Vampire Rain demo was first released in Japan on Tuesday, and we suspected that it would become available in North America shortly thereafter. Well, we were right and today it is, but unfortunately for some (or rather, most), it's only available in two thirds of this continent. While being available in Mexico and Canada, as well as portions of Europe, Asia, and Australia, the demo is not on Marketplace in the US. Quite frankly this is quite odd, and we hope the rest of you get your hands on it sooner rather than later. We guess we can get you "exclusive" hands on impressions later today, if we aren't too busy.
